It was regarding the wooden trim around the frame of our house and garage. After the second letter from the HOA (we were overseas at the time) my husband contacted Mike and told him what we needed. Mike quoted us a more than fair price considering it was high ladder work and at the time it was very hot outside. From contact to finish it was a day and a half turn around time. I can't say enough about them. They are a family business and we really love how the work was finished in a day and a half---completed with stellar perfection. We hired Herbert H Construction for four projects…read more 1. Our garage is a HUGE waste of space. The ceiling is at least 20ft high, so we are having them add a floor to it. The job is almost complete and we are VERY happy with it so far. 2. Install a buffet cabinet in our dining room and install countertop. 3. Remodel our kitchen. The kitchen remodel will entail replacing granite countertops, lowering part of a countertop, replacing backsplashes, fixing drywall, moving electric and plumbing, installing an electric cooktop, and painting existing cabinets. 4. Fix drywall in half bath and repaint. The garage project is almost complete and the buffet cabinet was installed. All that remains is the kitchen remodel, the buffet countertop and trim, and the bathroom repainting. This company is the best contractor company I've experienced in my 62 years of life. They are communicative throughout the process. The company's namesake, Herbert Hernandez, was our first contact. He worked with us throughout the design/idea process, made sound suggestions and recommendations, provided us with a sensible, affordable estimate, and presented an excellent plan and schedule. The project manager, Mario, is on site regularly to check on progress, to answer questions, and make recommendations/suggestions. The job supervisor, David (Herbert's brother), is fantastic, as are Raymond and the other guys, whose names I can't remember right now. Their work ethic is superb, and they are 100% customer oriented. They're on time, they work hard, do excellent work, clean up their messes, talk to us throughout the work, and far exceed my expectations. Netflicks (referral service), but I don't think it is spelled like that, but close.) gave him my name! And he came over that evening to give me an estimate. I wasn't impressed even from the beginning, but I did not follow my instinct which I usually do which tells me what I need to know about somebody at least their character. And I didn't do my three interviews, which I usually do. We made arrangements for him to start the next day, but I believe it was raining and it rained so much during the next three weeks we could not plant because the grass was too wet to cut. Zoyzia. And it was too late to plant. Finally started the last week of May. He was to cut a lot of of my shrubs back so the backyard would get more sun, lay down fresh soil all over the backyard after he churned it up. I forget what it's called. Tilling. OK. So the next day he sends over two very young people, a brother and sister. He had not even told the brother that they would be cutting all those shrubs back so the young man came unprepared, although he did it with the pair of pruning cutters. He worked hard and didn't complain and got the job done. I was later told that they were never told what they would be doing on a job just to go to a certain address. He had a tiller, but he barely turned up the dirt where he was to plant. Then the owner had not even delivered fresh dirt. The young man had to stop what he was doing and go to wherever you get fresh dirt and bring it back to put on the YARD. Well, he didn't get much you're supposed to put 4 inches down and I was lucky if I got 1 inch. I know I got 0 inches in some places. They didn't really know all about laying down sod!!! they didn't have a roller to smooth it out after they got it all laid, which attaches it to the dirt they were supposed to put in so roots can grow down into it. I have that hard clay muddy dirt that San Antonio has been blessed with!! you can imagine what that poor little ROOT has to go through to get through that down to the area where there's water. The owner never came out to check on him. LaTE in the day after these two young people had worked their little hearts out, two guys came over. I don't know, one was his brother I think, don't know who the other one was, and proceeded to help with the last bit of planting. (???). They did take all the shrubs they cut back away, cleaned up the front really well and were here till probably 8 o'clock at night. Then took the shrubbery he had cut back and dumped it. I'm hoping it went in the dump where it's supposed to go in the city. So the moral to my story is this. I would stay away from this group no matter what you want done they seem to advertise that they do a little bit of everything and yet know nothing about anything! The owner never returns phone calls. Never. I told him his Customer Service really sucked! And I meant that with a capital CS. Not sure you can count on him when it's not raining to be there when he says he will be or to be there on time or at least have someone there because he never showed up at my house. Those two kids did. Found out later the young lady hadn't even been paid weeks later. I mean, that is just horrible. It was hot. It was a really rough day for working outside all day. We Furnished ice and bottled water for them and a few snacks. But they were hard little workers and I told him so. Anyway, to make this long story short I don't care if you wanna remodel l, put in a new shower, landscape, whatever, please stay away from this company! Oh, and I forgot to tell you, they covered up my sprinkler heads with the grass they planted. Now I'm having to pay a sprinkler guy to come out and uncover them and put in new ones for those we can't find! COVERED THE SPRINKLER HEADS WITH THE GRASS!!!!! I could go on, but I won't.
