Step into this establishment and you will understand why brunch has become my favorite meal time. This is breakfast "tapas style." This place is very popular for better and worse. Even though it is a large establishment, there is a line throughout the morning. I will probably return but avoid weekends, and sneak to my alley brunch spot across the street if this is too crowded. It was chilly today so I opted to sit inside. The central rooms are warmer but noisier from the crowds echoing. However the rooms by the door can get a little chilly because people forget to close the door on their way out. I believe they have a few other locations I highly recommend the breakfast sampler. It gives you a wide selection from savory to sweet. Some of my favorites were the cheese platter (ranges from funky to mild, goat etc.). Martuga, a lot more interesting than the ingredients sound. The texture and color fools you into thinking it's potatoes. The walnut spread and cherry jam. Honestly, it is all good but with so much to choose from you can't help but discern your favorites before you become too full. Free refills on the tea. The waiter did not understand that I wanted to substitute the fried egg for menemen, so I got "egg in the face" with two orders. However, they do eggs right!

This place is adorable and you get so much food! I went here at a friend's recommendation and we ordered the traditional Turkish breakfast and got a huge variety of food. It was so fresh and delicious! Language was a barrier but luckily Google translate came to the rescue. They took credit card and gave us takeaway containers when we asked.

Best breakfast in Istanbul! For 170 TL, you enjoy a spread of warm bread, dips, salads, cheeses, eggs, etc. Each dish is full of flavor and the unlimited tea is perfect. The moment you order, food is delivered. The staff is very kind!

Was recommended to come here for a traditional Turkish breakfast. The food was fresh and delicious. One of the breads they served was soo good and was perfect to pair with the different items. I felt like the portions on some of items like the eggs were a bit small for 2 people.

Serpme Kahvalti - turkish breakfast for two also comes with eggs and unlimited turkish tea!

The best breakfast in town! They bring out a traditional turkish breakfast as little bit of everything in the middle or you can order whatever you like a la carte! Service is outstanding they have so many locals and a lot of tourist customer. Turkish tea comes unlimited which is a great perk!;)

Very clean restaurant, service is great and with much hospitality!

Girls enjoyed the food very much! Recommend the donut shape fried bread with jams, great for breakfast!

We absolutely loved the breakfast. It was so much food at a very affordable price. The place is charming and the service is great. Hope to be back soon

Amazing breakfast spot! Excellent service and delicious food. I really appreciate the fact that this place does not attempt to surcharge tourists...that's very important in Istsnbul.

On our first day in Istanbul, we dropped off our luggage at the hotel and went to seek out a hearty breakfast. A 15 minute walk (mostly uphill) led us to this well-known gem. The restaurant was packed with a good mix of locals and tourists and we ordered the Van Breakfast for 2. Within a couple of minutes, a dozen plates of spreads, cheeses, olives and veggies appeared in front of our eyes. I didn't even know where to start. I tried all of the items and my favorites were the honey and milk cream. Did I mention that it comes with unlimited tea?

Olives, orange marmalade, tomato paste, cream cheese with dill and chives, sesame seed paste, dark cherry jam

It is a little hole in the wall place, but they serve up a traditional flavorful dish a bit like seitan basically. You can get it in a wrap and if you are staying somewhere can take a box home for fairly cheap. Also be sure to check out nearby Parsifal. This is a simple sit down affordable place that is 100 percent vegetarian and has many vegan options. The menu labels what is vegetarian and what is vegan making ordering easy.

I have been going to Zencefil for years but last time I was there was about 4-5 years ago. The restaurants has been keeping its style, quality for many years. Even the menu looks like the same except for a few new dishes depending on the season. There are several kinds of vegetable quiches such as eggplant, spinach, etc. The nice think is that before the meal they serve butter mixed with herbs accompanied with bread. There were two kinds of bread; with corn flour and whole wheat. However, the bread could be better, I didn't like the whole wheat bread. I can make batter breads and I am wondering why they do not make their own bread adding different kinds of herbs and vegetables. Although it is a vegetarian restaurant, there one or two chicken dishes on the menu. Since there wasn't so much change on the menu for years, I have already tried most dishes which were OK. I mean the tastes are nice, not heavenly but you know that all of them are healthy. This time I had warm served Aegean stew made of artichokes, faba beans and black-eyed beans. It was so light and tasty, I really like it. I had homemade ginger ale for a drink but frankly saying I didn't like it maybe because I am used to Canadian dry or other brands. But I recommend its lemonade with ginger. I hope they add more experimental vegetable recipes on the menu next time. At the end of the meal they always serve coriander and some dry herb to refreshen the breath which I really like. Lastly, the ambiance is nice, bright, colorful and the place is mostly full of young people and tourists during lunch hours. The service is not bad but I wish they smile more...

We had a bit of an issue where where someone from our group left their phone in the taxi. We needed help translating over the phone and also making phone calls and getting camera recording to find the car number and whatnot, and I'll stop at the restaurant were more than happy to help us. As for the food, everything is delicious! My favorite was the Biberli ekmek (flat thread with spicy cheese on top). That flat bread was phenomenal! Good amount of spicy cheese on top and something you could just have on repeat. Classic Turkish breakfast was also yum. Number of items was impressive! I think even a portion for 2 is enough for 3 or 4 people if you get another item outside of the Turkish breakfast. It comes with a mix of sweet and savory items so you have a whole meal there with dessert included. The main highlights here were the pumpkin item, the red pepper hummus, classic hummus, carrot jam. Traditionally suchukn sausage was also delicious. Dad loved the Muhammara. One thing though is that they put a lot of oil on top of every items so if you want to avoid that maybe ask them to avoid putting oil on things like hummus and the yogurt which don't already have oil inside it. I highly recommend combining multiple dips together in one bite along with the flatbread. really takes it to another level. Almost home items were really good except the cheeses. The string type of cheese and the other soft cheese were very very salty. The flatbread that came on the side was also unbelievably soft! The best part about that was the zatar that they gave along with the flatbread. That zatar was so nice I could eat it on its own. We even asked for a little container to take the extras back with us. Spicy sausage and cheese Menemen was a nice surprise. It was basically scrambled eggs with the spicy sausage and cheese inside the tomato sauce. Family tried the potato stuffed flatbread (gozleme) and I think they really enjoyed it because they wiped that entire plate out.

We walked here from Sultanahmet which took around 40 min and our walk ended with a climb that involved steep hills and stairs. That being said, the climb was so worth it!! This restaurant is located in a very quiet and quaint area of tho city, feels very European, full of several cafes with outdoor seating and cobblestone streets. The restaurant itself had seating indoors and outdoors, had minimalistic decor and really drew its charm from the surrounding areas. It gave a very "neighborhoody" spot feel. The hostess and waitress was very nice and got our orders almost immediately. My parents each ordered on of the menemens (mushroom and sujuk) along with an avocado salad and French toast. They both really liked the food. I split with my fiancé the Gourmet Turkish breakfast or Kahvalti. The Kahvaltı blew my mind away- wonderful spread of cheeses, dips, jams, honey, and fresh produce. Some highlights for me included the delicious thyme olive salad, the eggplant dip, and the ezme, these dips were full of vibrant flavors and were just so bold (I find that the dips we had at other places were not as tasty, these were hands down the best and had the most superior quality). For the sweet dips, I loved everything! Notably the kaymak, or clotted cream, with honey was the star! Also the "milk jam" or süt reçeli which was like a milder dulce de leche with subtle vanilla flavor.... I want to buy a whole jar-- luckily for me they actually sell them at this place and I'm very likely going to return to buy one. The breakfast also came with abundant plain bread as well as some pieces of lahmacun which has tomato and spices. The abundance and high quality of all the ingredients really made the gourmet portion of this live up to the hype. Their service was very attentive and friendly. The ambiance was so relaxed and casual. This is definitely one of my favorite spots that I've tried while traveling recently. If you are looking for a cute and quaint spot for excellent kahvaltı, this is the place!! Highly recommend! I definitely will try to make it back whenever I return to Istanbul. Bookmark it now!
