We were trying the usual suspects in Roseville and Rocklin and there was a lot of good teaching but just couldn't get plugged in and connected. Our daughter was 10 at the time and getting her to be excited about going to kids service on Sunday's was challenging for a myriad of reasons. So with all of that said we found a great spot in Rocklin but our daughter wasn't happy. I suggested that we give a local church a try since we live in CH and were well received the first day that we came in and our kid loved the service and made friends on day one. The people are real! No pageantry! Just real people experiencing Jesus! So come as you are and prepare to have an encounter that is real and tangible! This church has shaped our lives in a very profound and meaningful way! We have a small group that we host in our home (which I never thought I would have been one of those people) and we volunteer with the junior high ministry which is great to see you people getting love and support and positivity. So many good things to say about the message and the pastoral staff. Come and see for yourself! Scott & Heather

Well it's been over a year since we've moved to Placer County and we are still on the search for a…read morehome church. We've visited a lot of churches in the Rocklin/Roseville area and liked a lot of aspects of different churches, but never felt completely at home. Four weeks ago, we decided to see if any churches around this area had a Saturday evening service. There were two we were deciding between, but this church started 30 minutes later, which gave us some extra time to get ready. I was a little apprehensive when we got there, because you never quite know what to expect when walking into a new church. While we were going from the parking lot to the church entrance, we were greeted by a tall gentleman who shook our hands and chatted with us. Turns out he's one of the pastors here. I think his name is Mark. He was so friendly and fun to talk to. After a few minutes of chatting, he pointed towards another guy closer to the front door who he introduced as another pastor. So we get to the other pastor who introduces himself and we start chatting. We tell him briefly about our church search and he tells us that he knows how hard that can be, and he asks if he could pray for us. I figured that meant he'd pray for us later when he got home (especially since there are so many people going into the sanctuary before service starts). But nope, he prayed for us right then and there! I thought that was the coolest thing. I know praying isn't that huge of a deal, but for a pastor of a large church to just drop everything and pray for a couple of strangers he just met....well, I thought it was pretty awesome. So we walk into the sanctuary and I look around. It's a lot of younger people---maybe in their teens, twenties, early thirties? It reminded me a lot of my youth group days. I wasn't sure how comfortable I'd feel there. The music was about to start and several people gathered in front of the stage. My husband whispered to me, "They have a mosh pit???" I was still apprehensive but then the music started and I was BLOWN AWAY. The worship team that day was simply amazing. You know a group has such God-given talent when they can bring you to that heart of worship and you can tune them out, close your eyes, and just worship freely. Their musical skills were very impressive too. Everything, musically, just blended so perfectly together. Probably one of the best worship teams I've heard in a local church. I honestly felt like I was in a concert like Chris Tomlin or Hillsong, with professional musicians (maybe they are). I know it's a good sign when I have to pull out Kleenex during the worship time. Then Pastor Bob Hasty (?) came out to speak and his sermon was convicting, challenging but also very interesting. I left that church service that night and was on a spiritual high all week. I couldn't wait to go back the following week. Songs that we sang stayed in my mind all week, and I was so thankful for that church service. We've been back three more times after that, and there have been weeks where it's mind-blowing like that first week, but also times that have been just...ok. [To be honest, if we had come on weeks 2 and 4, I'm not sure I'd have been as excited to come back. Sometimes when some women lead worship, the dancing, moving, yelling, and carrying on gets very distracting and you're no longer able to just focus on the worship.] If you're visiting this church, you need to stop by when that particular worship team (I'll have to get that guy's name) is leading worship. He has such a gift, and I'm thankful for those two weeks where he led worship for us. Not sure how often he and his team leads....maybe every other week? All the pastors we have met are such amazing men of God. Service starts and ends on time, and everyone is so friendly and caring. They even give first-timers a great devotional book! Their child care services are excellent also! I invited our friend to come, and she brought her 5-year-old daughter to their "Jungle" area. Check in was smooth and her daughter LOVED being there. As we were leaving, she said to her mom, "Can we come back again?" You know child care workers (especially that one girl with the cool purple/blue hair) have done a great job when you have kids wanting to come back to church. It's wonderful to find such a Spirit-filled church in the area that also has Saturday evening services! Wow!

At first, I thought this place was about genuine faith and community, but over time, I saw behind the curtain. Pastor Ray Johnston is constantly bragging about his massive home in Granite Bay. It became clear that donations weren't supporting the community or Christ-centered outreach, they were going toward funding this man's lavish lifestyle. It felt less like a church and more like a business funneling money to a celebrity pastor. Beyond that, Bayside has always leaned political, especially when it comes to pushing conservative ideologies, including stances against women's rights and the LGBTQ+ community. They preach culture war talking points more than the Gospel. And let's talk about the services, they're basically rock concerts with lights, smoke machines, and polished performances. It's a production, not a place of worship. It became clear to me that this was a mega-church more focused on image, money, and influence than on Jesus. If you're looking for authentic, Christ-like community and teachings rooted in humility, look elsewhere. I haven't stepped foot in Bayside in years, and I never will again.
