I was referred to Rita after a car accident. I had a whiplash, all of the major muscles in my…read moreback were completely locked, my knee was flared up (torn meniscus), and I was in incredible pain from my head to my tailbone. I didn't see how massage could help me, but in the end I felt that Rita helped me more than even the physical therapists. She has a vast knowledge of the muscles and nerves and their interaction with each other. She saw me twice a week for the first couple of months and once a week for the next couple of months. It was amazing how, after working with me for several weeks, her hands would go right to the trigger spots that were hurting, even without me telling her where it hurt. I credit her for getting those large muscles to unlock and put me on the path to moving again. She is consistent in her ongoing study of alternative measures to help her patients recover. She is very proficient in different techniques of massage therapy, and was even able to give me stretches and other exercises that helped to unlock my muscles. Nadine was super easy to schedule with. Finding the building is easy and her space is very private for being in a shared building! I heard what sounded like someone's phone vibrating at one point, but that's unavoidable and not disruptive, like screaming kids at the daycare would be- which could not be heard. So the massage itself: I mentioned feeling a sinus cold coming on and asked for some neck/facial attention- Nadine attended to it and suggested a stomach start versus back so the pressure wouldn't return to my face if we had done back first and then stomach. Practical. I appreciated the care toward my concern. So the massage begins and I'm thinking "I should ask that she apply more pressure" ... I hold my tension in my back and shoulders, but I relaxed and let her continue AND AM SO GLAD I DID! She focused a lot of pressure points and how energy flows through the body. I could physically feel the tension on my body relocating- it was the strangest, most foreign feeling but I have NEVER felt better after a massage! She left my back with peppermint oil to continue its magic on the muscles and moved on, doing the same thing- paying attention to pressure points and I'm assuming paying attention to the flow of energy in the body. Formerly she owned a yoga studio and occasionally would teach, I think this makes her talent all that much more impressive- she truly knows the body and how to get them centered. I'll be looking no further for a place to get regular massages!
