This place is awesome ! I'm not sure what ppl expect for 35$ for an hour massage and free 30 min foot massage! Lol I've been going for years. Always clean, respectful and never inappropriate. My boyfriend goes too and he loves the moderate price and massage one gets for it. They completely deserve the tip they ask for and they have it as mandatory because people really try to give them 3-5$ for all the time and work they put into your massage. If you don't speak Vietnamese or chinese or whatever language it is that these folks speak, you may want to reconsider finding a different place. They keep the temperature at 80 degrees and they have no idea how to communicate. The woman massaged my legs for 60 mins. I asked her to flip me around and she couldn't understand. Not sure why there are so many bad reviews of this place- I got a great massage and it helped my fibromyalgia symptoms ! This is the only place I have been to where they don't hurt me and cause pain while massaging my legs and lower back- I'm very sensitive in that area thanks to the fibromyalgia and in general most masseuses like to press on the pressure points there too hard- this place was relaxing and yes it's not fancy but the massage was definitely above average even competing with those fancy spas ! read more

I went in for the $35 60 minutes body work + "free" 30 minutes foot massage ($25 value) that they advertised at the front door. I was immediately escorted to a back room and while I was undressing, the same lady peeked in and told me to get dressed again as now we're doing the foot massage first. A polite knock on the door frame (no doors, just curtains) would've been professional. The foot massage by this lady was more relaxing than the typical foot massages I'm used to at Asian massage places but pleasant. The (only) guy did my body work. While he was working on my lower back, he hopped on the head end of the table and his crotch was on top of my head... yeah. EW. I didn't sign up for anyone's balls rubbing back and forth in my hair - covered or not. The massage was good so far and I was aching all over so I didn't say anything. I believe he extended the session as the timer went off once but I really couldn't tell. WORST. How come they don't let you post with no star? They don't deserve any star at all. There are so many other massage places you can go in Bayside. I regret why I chose to go this one, such a waste of both time and money. I happened to be around the street and decided to try since they had a big signage saying you can 30min free foot massage when you get 1 hour body massage for $35. This was a trap. It was dirty, bed and carpet smelled so bad, they use such a cheap oil that smelled bad and they used so little of that oil so it felt like my skin was stretching. AC was on so strong made me freezing during the body massage and no one spoke English when I try to communicate. I decided not to get free foot massage because it was not worth my time. When I tried to pay for my worst experience, they forced me to pay more tip. Seriously? No way. Then I realized they put another customer to where I was, right after I came out. I was pretty sure they did not have enough time to clean my room. Then I overheard a customer asking if this room is cleaned because she was complaining she is touching a wet towel and her bed sheet is oily. OH MY GOODNESS, REALLY? They don't even clean and change the bed???? It sounded like they denied that they didn't clean the room. I was not sure if I was supposed to go back into that room to be a witness. Vanilla Spa it's a lovely place. I have gone there off and on for many years. And I will continue to go there. I have a had different people do the massage each time. And I have always been satisfied with the standard. Sometimes it is exceptional. It is never less than great. And you will never find a deal like they offer...$35 for an hour body massage plus a half hour foot massage. It is really amazing. BUT YOU MUST PAY THE EXPECTED TIP. For every half hour they expect$5 so the 90 minute package warrants a$15 tip. And they well deserve it!!! Even with the tip...a total of$50 it is still the best deal you are bound to ever find. Give them the tip cheerfully and you become like a family member. If you don't give the tip they will let you know quite clearly that you have not done the right thing and neither you nor they will be happy about it. The service here is very mediocre. The owner seemed hesitant when I asked for a female therapist. She led me to one of the rooms and asked that I undressed. 20 minutes passed and she asked if her husband can continue in her place cause she had to serve another client. At the end the male owner didn't seem too happy about giving the extra 30 minutes foot massage as advertised and Demanded for $15 tips. Avoid coming to this place. This place is horrible my friend and I just had a massage there and they don't speak English well so if it's too hard and hurts they don't know to ease up instead they hurt us. Then at the end when you are supposed to have the free foot massage because they were busy they told us we couldn't have it. They gave us two cards and said next time. Then I told them just charge us for the massage and a lady said it would be $19 and change then suddenly they charged me $76 I was so angry and they didn't freaking understand why I was and explained that it should only be $40 then they said no it's $35 each and that because I was paying for my friend it was $76 with tax. I went for Foot Massage and my friend had back body massage. As soon as we walked in, they did not ask us what kind of services we want but just brought us to the room. I told the woman who seems to be the owner that I want foot massage and my friend wants the body and she did not even understand so my friend and I had to tell her few times. Pretty much paid 35 to be assaulted. Woman didn't know the 1st thing about giving a massage. I walked out with more pain than when I entered. Everything I said she would reply with an "ok" and continue to do the exact opposite of what I said. I actually made her stop with 10 minutes left on the timer because it was unbearable. The massage was good until the end. The owner insisted for the $15 tip and kept arguing that we have to pay the $15. When it came time for the free foot massage, they robbed us 15 minutes as they cut the time short. I timed it on my phone and was definitely not a half hour foot massage. Also, she charged us three dollars extra to use our credit card and didn't even notify us. When I asked, "how come it's not $35, she said that's the tax for credit card." You can't be the price of $35 for an hour and $50 for 90 minutes. However, the therapists know very little about massages. I would say 2 of them are good out of the 6 or 8 they employ. Most don't know the body, and don't hit those muscles / tight areas. A lot are very rough, and sometimes even hurts when rubbing. The rooms are small, cramped, and on top of each other. There's only curtains separating the rooms, so you can hear everyone else. I want more privacy. Something seems a bit fishy. Many of the "similar" places in the area provide back rubs for both women and men. I am female, went in and got a back massage. The "gentleman" who provided it went uncomfortably near certain areas. During the whole time that I was there and for a while as I watched later, only men entered. Treated my mom and aunt for the $35 promotion of "60 minute body massage and 30 min foot massage". The way this place operates is that each masseuse massages the body and then switches to massage the feet. So, as I was paying my bill and providing 20% tip for the entire service, the cashier said "minimum tip is $15". Instead of 20% tip, they had insisted I give 40% of the $35, thus 20% per masseuse although they each provided the same service. Service is great until it comes time to pay the bill. They are very aggressive when it comes to tipping. They will even take all your money if you don't insist for change back (as it already happened to me). It is one of my favorite places to go. No where will you find such a wonderful massage for the price they charge. It is very quiet with gentle music playing in the background. When there is speaking it is always soft. I find that very soothing. I have never had the same person work on me but everyone who works there does a very good job. First you have a full body massage for an hour and then a half hour foot massage. Its absolutely fantastic. They charge $35 but a tip is expected - and well deserved. $15 is the standard tip for an hour and half of massage. Many people give more. Even with the expected tip is an incredible bargain. Went to the 45th ave and Bell location around 11am and made an appt. for 2 facials for my daughter and her friend at 2pm (teenagers). My daughter and I were pleased that the rate was reasonable, but having no idea of how this place operates I was cautiously optimistic. My initial impression was that the place was very dark inside. I rationalized that it is a "spa", so maybe it was an attempt on their part to create "atmosphere". I came home and looked the place up online. I read the previous review from 2011 and was concerned, but figured no other posting was made since then so maybe things have improved. So at 1:50pm, my daughter, her friend, my other daughter and I show up. Once again I am struck by the darkness of the place. I asked one of the workers if I could pay now so I could just drive up later and pick up the girls. She called out to someone who came and told me the price for the 2 facials. I told her to add 20% now because I did not want the girls to have to do anything when they were done. I put the money on the counter and told her how much change to give me. Well..........,she became VISIBLY annoyed and started talking to the worker I first spoke to when I walked in. She was agitated and talking very fast and curtly (not in English btw). I was dumbfounded. I looked at her and asked what was the problem. She said you need to give $10 per facial. WHAT?????? I responded with, "You cannot tell a customer how much to give.". I proceeded to tell her (while she resumed speaking in her language to her coworker) that "20% is an acceptable gesture from a customer ESPECIALLY since I have no idea of the quality of their services". She waved at me and went on to count out the change from the register. I told her to give me my money back. She and the other worker started saying "it's ok, no problem". I said "absolutely not, give me my money back". She returned the money. I then told her that it's not smart business to lose customers and future business by imposing over 30% tips on your customers.
