Mama Doreen's Emporium came highly recommended so we just had to try it. Initial impressions were…read moregood with a setting which reflected the price. We mainly opted for Yorkshire tea which came in decent size pots allowing for a couple of tea cups full each although the second round of tea came in one medium and one small pot for 4 which left us feeling slightly short changed. We ordered afternoon tea for 5 and received a great selection of sweet and savoury delights. We were somewhat puzzled by the fact that, if you required a gluten free tea you had to have lactose free too which seemed strangely rigid and punative (and totally unnecessary) as all the items are prepared on site by skilled people. Our two people who required the gluten free option had to request cream for their scones and in their merangues (strange when the merangues served to the rest of us were gluten free anyway). We also felt that the surcharge for gluten free of £2.50 was a kick in the teeth for people who already have less dietary options and are, after all, limited by a medical condition. Service was variable with some delays and unanswered requests although I have to make it clear that one of our servers, Alberto, made up for the failings of some colleagues by demonstrating consistantly excellent customer service and a very pleasant demeanor, he made our visit so much better! I didn't use the rest room but those our party that did reported that they were dirty and unpleasant.

DO NOT RECOMMEND. I've come to this gourmet deli since last…read moresummer, and enjoyed many things I've tried. Its been a little while since I've come back but unfortunately I'm disappointed in what I found. I brought my girl friend to experience this neat little deli with a great story, but was so infuriated with the service that we left before ordering. When we stood before the ordering counter (with no one behind us) my girl friend was shushed mid sentence and told to sit down. We were visibly put off, but complied, and ultimately decided that the there are plenty of good sandwich shoppes that would love our business. When we got up to leave, the grumpy old behind the counter gave a smug grin and murmured, "alright then." REALLY?? HOW RUDE! We are trying to figure out why we were treated so poorly and the only conclusion we can ascertain is that we weren't wearing our sunday best, (people dress fairly well in Harrogate) only hoodies and jeans. Even so, this is not the sort of place I want to support, or recommend to anyone else. Try Weeton's Cafe instead!

Good points are that there is a very good choice of food at really affordable prices and delicious looking creamy desserts. Bad point is that food quality is sometimes poor. My loin of pork in mushroom sauce was small bits of fairly tough pork that appeared to be left over from a carvery and my friend's cheese cake was all cream and little taste.

I Love Cheesecake!…read more I have indulged in the pleasure of eating many cheesecakes from a variety of vendors, and I can say, hand on heart that, the Manchester Cheesecake Company produces the best cheesecakes! I had the pleasure of trying a (mini) cheesecake from here when he had a stall at the University of Manchester market, which occurred every Tuesday during the Semester. Although, the Manchester Cheesecake Company, was only there fortnightly, Pietro, the man behind the company, quickly became a favourite vendor for the whole of my office. The first cheesecake I tried was the hazelnut chocolate one, mainly because I love any hazelnut and chocolate combo! It was a nice creamy rich chocolate with a Ferrero Rocher on top. How amazing does that sound! Although, it was a little sweet for me, it was still delicious! The next time the cheesecake man came to visit, I thought I would go for a plain cheesecake with a fruity topping, and these cheesecakes were even better! Amazing! I bought the blueberry cheesecake, which contained blueberry within the cheesecake itself! I think this is my favourite! The cheesecake is relatively standard, but the taste is unbelievable! The other cheesecake I sampled (because I bought it for my girlfriend, of course!), was the strawberry cheesecake. This had a nice strawberry mousse in the middle with half a strawberry resting on top. Here is a tip: Let the cheesecake sit in the fridge for a day (if you can!) to let the mousse settle, and then it would be absolutely delicious! The market is no longer on, but my office now has cheesecake delivered every two weeks. Yes the company delivers! The Manchester Cheesecake Company also frequents Levenshulme Market and Moss Side Market. Check out their Facebook and Twitter for more details! If you don't believe how good the cheesecake is, then try it for yourselves. Next time, I will sample the lemon cheesecake and rumour has it, Pietro even does a cookie dough cheesecake! Whatever I try next, I know, it will be immense! Find this blog on mcrphil.blogspot.co.uk

I called on Wednesday and asked if they could prepare a cake for that Friday and they were very nice about it. All I had to do was email the details of what I wanted to their main email and they sent me a confirmation. One of the best parts is that they actually delivered the cake to my house! I'm a student and I don't have a car so this was a huge help! When the cheesecake arrived it looked gorgeous with raspberry swirls and fresh raspberries on top. Everyone loved the cake and it tasted delightful! I would definitely order another cake from them in the future. It also was great that their prices are extremely affordable. So many cake shops in Manchester charge 30+ pounds for a cake and this cake was only 18 pounds. A very reasonable price for the quality. Order from here, you will not regret it!
