Khmer wedding outfits!! I wanted to wear the traditional Khmer clothing for my husband on our wedding day since I am marrying a Cambodian, I want to honor his traditions. We finally found a store that was open on our off days. I called Vannary Bridal to ask if they are available and they are and told us to come by at 3:30pm - 4:00pm. This store is location across from a supermarket. We got lucky and park in front of the store. We get to look around and see what we like. At first I wanted all gold but bong Kim the owner said to check out her instagram page, which I did and decided to change the outfit to a lighter top set. We did have bong Kim come to our wedding venue to help dress us because I wouldn't know how to pin everything down to make us look good on our wedding day. Bong Kim was very friendly and nice. Behind my back she messaged my husband making up several Things like I was cussing at her and saying almonds of crazy things. I asked for a refund for the dress. I was given a refund but this woman caused a lot Of problems. Measurements were wrong, cutting and sewing of dress were not professionally made. Zipper tags were left on it with bar code. I was hesitant to write a negative review on a small business, but I hope others don't get the same experience as me. Kim's dresses were beautiful, but she was unprofessional. She was nice when we first met but after we made the deposit, things changed. It was difficult trying to get a hold of her. I started feeling nervous about booking Kim since another reviewer said she arrived late. I also booked her to dress me at the venue, which was about an hour away from her shop. When me and one of my bridesmaids went back to try on more dresses, she was so lazy and seemed irritated to even let us try on anything in the shop. She would put the dresses on over our clothes! How were we supposed to know how the whole outfit would come together on the day of the wedding. Mind you, we live 1 1/2 hours away. She said she didn't like for the bridesmaid to try on the dresses. She would pick them out herself. She never asked for my bridesmaids measurements as if everyone was the same size but, I gave her the measurements anyway. On the day of my wedding, my bridesmaid called her to make sure she would show up on time. When she picked up the phone, she sounded like she just woke up from a nap. When Kim arrived, SHE DID NOT BRING THE EXACT BRIDESMAIDS TOPS AND DRESSES THAT I PICKED OUT! They were in the same color scheme, but not the ones that I chose! My bridesmaids had to squeeze into the dresses because she didn't use the measurements I provided. She probably just grabbed the dresses off the shelf on the day of. Luckily my bridesmaids were slim enough to pull it off. She didn't even bring enough jewelry for my 4 bridesmaids. She just brought whatever she wanted. First of all, I had a destination wedding so of course I did not expect Kim to be there to help us into the dresses. I believe she did take advantage of the fact that we were out of town. Kim, she's nice but she's very unprofessional. My first meeting with her, she was 15 minutes late. The second meeting with her she was late again. My dress we were able to pick out the fabric I wanted and she delivered. I did gain weight and she was able to adjust it. (She asked me to lose weight and had doubt that I would a week before my wedding) She also gave me the option to try another dress because it would look better with my top. I couldn't decide so she let me take both. My bridesmaids, the top was white which was fine that's what we wanted. But the skirt was a weird shade of pink/orange when I wanted a light pink. One of my bridesmaid became pregnant and she was able to adjust it. Which was great. Another one became pregnant and was not able to attend anymore so I had to ask her not to charge me for that when she wanted to. A few days before the wedding I asked her to send me a video of how to put on the dresses just in case. No reply. Day of the wedding. It took us over an hour to figure out how to put on the dresses. We missed a great portion of the ceremony because of this. The bridesmaids dresses were either to tight or to big. Kim provided us with safety pins to adjust the dresses but they weren't enough. They looked ugly with the pins and they were uncomfortable for my girls so they didn't get to wear it and I didn't get to do my wedding ceremony like I wanted. When I complained to Kim, she blamed us for not knowing how to put on the dresses and that she wasn't there to help us. How is she supposed to help us when we're out of town? The measurements were the same as the regular bridesmaid dresses so the dresses should have been fine. She said the safety pins should helped but they did not. She didn't want to give me any compensation for my loss and tried to make me feel guilty because of the changes I made to my pregnant dresses and the fact that she gave me two dresses when I didn't want them. It also took me a whole month to return the dresses to her because she kept cancelling on me. She's never available late and I have to work. Something would always come up and it was really frustrating because I needed my deposit back. I was warned by my coworker to not come here because they got her dresses wrong TWICE. I wanted to trust Kim and because she was not as expensive. I totally regret it. If you want cheap dresses sure go here, but you might not get what you ask for. I suggest paying a little extra and going to another location where they will do it they way you want it. read more

Overall we had a positive experience with Kim and Vannary Bridal: Products - hair, make-up, traditional/formal wear, flowers, decorations Personality - understanding, flexible, culturally modern Price - Fair, transparent Other attributes: bilingual (English/Khmer), values feedback, speaks quickly My family has had a couple weddings already and unlike the other artists, Kim didn't limit our preferences to traditional views; she was very flexible and tried her best to understand our taste. She has a modern perspective for decorations and make-up which showed right away during the make-up trial. She made us feel comfortable enough to tell her what we liked and didn't like, and that willingness to accept feedback made it easy for us to work with her. Kim also shared with us her sources at LA Fashion District and fought for us in the negotiations. When we were looking at table covers at one of the fabric stores, the shopkeeper was being inconsistent with his cost per unit for the same type of fabric. One piece was $12, but when we asked about a similar one, he called for $13. Kim blatantly called him out on it and pushed back against the shopkeeper's haggling. At the end of it, the shopkeeper exasperatedly gave in to an even lower price. After that instant, my wife and I agreed that "We should have her on our side for every negotiation!" From then it was clear to us that Kim is willing to stand up for her customers. Kim went above and beyond to fulfill our vision, going as far as driving 230 miles 4 months in advance to check out our venue at no charge. She was on time during the wedding day as well, arriving 30mins ahead of schedule to prep for logistics. Plus they were properly masked and respected our priority for health. After all of it was said and done, my wife felt amazing with her look and we receive much praise for our ceremony décor. After visiting every single rental shop in Long Beach, I'd have to say that Kim offered the friendliest and most flexible service. Her selection is beautiful and modern. The Vannary Bridal Team did hair and makeup for my wedding this past January 2017. They arrived at the house on time 5:30am right on the dot. Within about 2-3 hours, the team of two makeup artists and two hair stylists efficiently did hair and makeup for myself, 4 bridesmaids, and my mom. We felt amazing! Her makeup artists do very good, natural-looking makeup. My makeup did not look cakey the entire day. Another important thing to note is that, while the team showed up to work at 5:30 in the morning, they did not leave for home until almost 10pm towards the end of our reception. Although we met up with the team intermittently throughout the day, the length of time and effort they dedicated to our wedding is such a bang for the buck. It just shows how hardworking they are. Weeks before the wedding, we brought to her attention our concerns with our bridal party fitting into the Khmer outfits because some are really tall. Kim assured us she would alter the outfits to fit and she did. She sews and alters the outfits to fit us perfectly. I also rented a Khmer outfit from her in June of 2016, which was beautiful and modern. The only thing that was unfortunate was that for the reason that the makeup artist might not have used primer, one of my bridesmaids suffered from dry skin, probably a reaction to the makeup. Kim updates her closet regularly by bringing in new styles and fashions from Cambodia. Kim and her team are friendly and down-to-earth.
