It took me a while to report someone bullying another kid. I tried to talk to my counselor about it, but it took me a while to get an appointment, and they weren't very helpful. Some of the teachers are nice, but some of them weren't the best. Their principal Mr. Hendee was nice the first time I saw him. I can't tell you if he was acting or just actually nice, but he seemed legit. Academically speaking they don't have a lot of extracurriculars. In 8th grade there is a split leadership class, so you can only have it for half the year. In the last semester you go to the high school to see their leadership class. If you have the first semester you can't go. Which can mislead you to knowing information about it. Sports wise they have good teams. One thing is that if you want to try out a new sport here that you have little experience in, don't. The golf coach Mr. Christensen takes a limited amount of kids. The golf coach at Creekside, which is also the golf coach at the high school takes almost all kids who tryout. This is too also them to have practice. He does only take the good people to play, but all to practice. In all I wouldn't recommend this school...

The teachers and staff are kind, and the new principal, Mr. Redemer, has been very approachable and easy to talk to. Anytime we've had a concern, it's been taken seriously and addressed. For Redwood Christian Middle/High School (San Lorenzo)…read more It is selfish of the school to cause so much traffic by only having one entrance in a highly residential area where it causes Buses to be significantly delayed. It is selfish of Redwood Christian to cause major traffic along a major Bus Route that is used by other students at nearby schools. In comparison to other schools, this car system is the worst of the worst. Although a response may be that allowing students to be dropped off at the back entrance near Via Vista/Neilsen will cause disturbance to the residents in that area, at least that door is not part of a major Bus route (93, which is used by many students: Arroyo High School, KIPP Schools, Bay Elementary, Bohannon Middle School, and even more schools further down). Because cars won't move at all on the one-lane street unless they get into your school, it causes the Bus to be stuck there for 5-10 minutes for such a short distance. The negative impact of such delay is a late bus of regularly 10+ minutes, up to 20 minute delay. It is not simply "take an earlier bus" if the school can decrease traffic.

Not only do they emphasize academic progress, they also balance the curriculum out with fun, play, music, foreign language (Spanish) and teach to make sure the students become well rounded citizens of the Earth. The student body is already very well diversified! The school is very well organized under the school principal Ms. Kaya. Staff of whom we have interacted with are extremely nice and responsive to any concerns. Tuition is one of the most reasonable you can find in the whole Bay Area, the value each student get is tremendous! The tuition even includes extended care which in already pays for itself! Especially for busy family with both full time working parents. Public schools usually ends around 2:30, but your tuition includes extended care until 6:00! I think my husband and I are both in awe, every month, on how little we are paying for a "private school" education. In fact the tuition is very similar to our local public schools after school program, and that program was suppose to already run by a registered non profit organization! Our family is extremely grateful that we have found this school. And grateful for all the teachers and staff our children have had so far. Big shout out to Ms. Mary (which my children talk about everyday, even if they have already moved on from her class), Ms Divine, and Ms. Contreras. Special thanks to all the administrative staff: Ms. Maria, Ms. Hernandez, Mr. Hawkins, Ms. Mary-Ann and countless others! I am surprised that not more people know about this hidden gem! Maybe the parents of students going to the school wants it to stay that way! The way we found out about this school was a referral by our friend. I heard that the Union City campus is already at full capacity every grade and is baffled why the CV campus is not yet. But don't take my word for it! Contact the school and take a tour yourself. You don't know what your kids are missing!

I can honestly say I have nothing but the best things to say about this amazing school I unfortunately had my mother passed away at a very young age in 2008 when I was five years old and this school recognized date and helped me grow as a student and a person the amazing staff I can't even talk enough about at independent. They were nothing but exceptional and making sure I was always OK both my brother and I and making sure we were at our best mental headspace. I learned to just become a very independent well-rounded person and I can't think independent enough for that if I could name names I'm not sure if they still work there, but Miss Pietro in many others, such as Miss Guito and more changed my whole well-being, an aspect on life, even though I was very young, they helped me mature and understand life when I was in the dark I felt as if they really understood my learning methods and my learning skills and made sure that I took special reading classes and much more to get me to where I needed to be considering my struggles. I can't think independent enough for everything they ever did for me and my family so when you're thinking of a school in cash Valley to send your kids, this would be the first place that I check forget all the other ratings. They were parents not students. That's all I have to say.

Within our first few weeks after transferring, my older high school brother was called the N-word by a fellow student. As middle schoolers, my other brother and I had to witness that, while constantly feeling a heavy, quiet hostility from parents who didn't want us to be friends with their kids just because we were among the few Black faces in the room. The students were mostly passive, but the constant microaggressions about my hair and the casual, stereotype-driven biases made it exhausting to just exist there. After George Floyd's murder, the school put on a performance of having conversations about American racism, but it felt empty--they did absolutely nothing to actually protect or support the few Black students they already had. I wouldn't wish the loneliness and anxiety of my time there on anyone. I am profoundly grateful to the few staff members who genuinely cared and tried to protect us after my brother was called a slur. But I fear nothing has truly changed, and I refuse to stay silent while another Black or minority student risks going through the same pain we did. I expect a response to this review, and I am entirely open to a direct dialogue with the superintendent to discuss how the school actually plans to fix this culture.

Then the main science course teachers especially AP Physics and Chemistry honor don't know how to teach. Those teachers don't know how to help students to apply their knowledge and concepts to solve problems, and assign homework on regular basis to help students to reinforce what they learn. My kid and the entire class struggle and stress on these subjects. The administration staff don't care. Students have to watch YouTube to learn it themselves. What is the point of paying high tuition for the teachers can't teach and kids have to look for resources from YouTube themselves!! My kid also mentioned that most of the students in the class cheat but the teachers don't know because too busy in texting or they just don't care. I am thinking to pull my kid out of this school next school year. I don't recommend this school at all . Don't waste your hard earned money !

At CVHS the teachers (more than one and on numerouse occasions) had said "do your homework or not I get paid all the same" the teachers at Redwood are STILL paying their student loans and are further commited to excellence than any school in this state. My best friend started her first year teaching at this school during my first year attendance and I feel we 'learned the ropes' together. Although most students were 'challenging' having their social/personal lives conflicting with academics, I honestly do NOT think half my graduating class would have even made it to that day if it were not for the debunking of the rumors that coexisted with this school by the teachers I had the oppertunity of knowing. Yeah this all sounds wierd even now being 2013, five years after graduation, but if I could go back to when I was at the 'main high school' I would STILL choose Redwood. Also if Hoffman and Schooley are still teaching...they are bitchin. (positive sense) Also, I havn't been around campus in a few years so if they are no longer a bunch of portables on a parking lot good for them!
