This was the first cafeteria style Italian place I've been to, it's a cool concept. They were stations for pasta, salad and main entrées with proteins. You would order at the counter of each of the selected food items and they bring out the food item to your table. There's plenty of seating for small and large groups. I remember always hoping that they would open one up in the states. I really like the concept. The pasta dishes and salads were always good here. It's a typical Vapiano that does what a typical Vapiano does. It's a bit small but it is a expected in such a crowded downtown tourist spot. You can tell that the workers are frustrated with tourist. They show it in every move. I'm pretty sure they were even talking about me in German just because I asked for one dish to go. If you need a familiar place come here but avoid it and try all the other local restaurants. read more

They opened late the day we arrived for lunch because of what appears to be a staff meeting. When they did open for service everyone was very unorganized and took quite a while to receive our food. Not what you expect from a place who's business model is about fast service. My gluten free pizza did not have a crispy crust it was under cooked. I ate about a 1/4 of it with the crust and then just settled for scraping off the toppings. A rather disappointing dining experience. read more
