    Prosciutto and mushroom pizza
    Louise B.

I've hit up the CBD Vapiano a few times and only had pasta each time (and loved the pants off it obvs!) This Sunday saw me and my sister taking a trip to the new and improved Garden City ( I think it was refurbished ages ago but it's a bit of a hike for me). The restaurant area is looking so nice and the weather was beautiful so pizza and a rest from shopping was in order. We ordered a prosciutto and mushroom pizza to share and it was lip-smackingly great! I love the inside of Vapiano restaurants, very laid back and relaxing and always amazing Italian food. Definitely worth skipping the food court for this!

There was an awesome antipasti spread on this board once... but I ate it. Nice board though...?

Consequently (especially when the show is in technical rehearsals and the performers have a lot of time on their hands) I got to know all the different bars and restaurants in and around QPAC. The Cafe came to my rescue a few times when coffee was a necessity and when a bacon and egg wrap can keep you going through a whole day of intense rehearsals. But it's not just for performers, there's a fantastic undercover grassed area where people can lounge before a day in South Bank, or get some fuel before going to a show. I will warn you that The Cafe can often take its sweet time, so if you're in a rush be aware that you could lose your patience. Once I waited half an hour for 2 pieces of fruit toast and 2 coffees and to be honest, they weren't even overrun with people. In saying this, the food I have had is always good and there's some fantastic salads and pastries in the glass cabinet at the front of the counter. Overall I quite like The Cafe, but I must admit that's more out of convenience than out of admiration, but if you're in the performing arts precinct and in need of something to eat, The Cafe can help you out.

If you wanted something in between a sit-down dinner and a packet of chips, you were in trouble and I can recall sitting through many a musical with my stomach rumbling. It's really handy to finally have a mid-level venue at QPAC where you can get a sandwich, cake, or salad with a coffee or drink before seeing a show. I saw Mary Poppins last week (so good. I wanna go again!!!), and true to form had forgotten that I wouldn't be home till after eleven and hadn't yet eaten. 'DOOOOM' thought I, until I noticed the (relatively) new QPAC cafe where I enjoyed a mega-sized Anzac biscuit and a passable coffee before chim chimminy chim chim cheroo-ing the night away in the Lyric Theatre. It's nothing amazing, but it's a good option and has been sorely needed for some time.

The restaurant is located on the second floor of the QT Hotel. There is street parking as well as valet parking available. Upon entry to the restaurant I was escorted to my table while passing by the different counters of food options. The host explained how everything worked and pointed out the different areas of the buffet. It is all neatly presented and vary high quality ingredients. After showing me the table I went to get started. The very left side of the buffet has certain meat and seafood options. They have beef stew, paella, and a few more options. You can also ask the chef in this section to make you a steak any temperature you like and they will deliver it to your table. Next to the meats you have the pizza counter. At the time they had a cheese option and a potato option. I tried the cheese pizza and it was incredible! The next section has salads and sides. You can choose from mac n cheese to potato salad and lots of other choices. The last section has asian dishes such as dim sum, chicken masala and lots more. The dessert counter is behind the dinner food and has tons of selections. You can get all sorts of mini cakes, pastries, ice cream, chocolates and more. Definitely save some room for dessert! Everything is so fresh and cooked perfectly with the right sauces! The beautiful presentation, delicious food and fantastic service are why I gave this place 5 stars.

Stones corner is convenient to park and walk around with a few options of restaurant in the area so you can appeal to everyone a group. Price is decent for the vibe of the place. Would've been more worth it if the chicken wing and other burgers were better.

The name 5 Boroughs is inspired by New York's five boroughs, which are Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx and Staten Island. The name is an interesting choice, since most Australians wouldn't know what a borough is. Moving on to the food, I have eaten here twice so far, and enjoyed both the 5B Chicken burger and the 5B Hot burger, which contains grass-fed Mandalong beef. The food is in a similar price range to Grill'd, though I would say that the burgers are a bit smaller. Both indoor and undercover outdoor seating is available, and as the premises are licensed, this would be a good place to go with mates on a weeknight or on the weekend. Plenty of parking is available at the Stones Corner Village parking lot.

It is this reason that places like In Bar Go in the Brisbane Domestic Terminal work so well. Who doesn't want to sit in a bar and relax with a drink to calm to flying jitters. In Bar Go is perhaps one of the more recognisable bars in the airport. There are other places to drink but most of them are attached to cafes or the like and tucked away. In Bar Go is right where you can see it, close to all the other food at the Virgin terminal. As a far as bars go In Bar Go isn't the best. It has rather stark and bleak decour that attempts to be modern but just makes it feel clinical. The service was not the cheeriest I have experienced but they did have a nice selection of beers to choose from. I guess if you are looking for a place to partake in some alcoholic beverages before a flight, In Bar Go is OK but it does not offer much more than that.

After a spot of late night Christmas shopping at Carindale last Thursday, it seemed the perfect opportunity to try this popular Italian restaurant. We were happy to wait for a table seeing we hadn't made a booking but I would recommend anyone wanting to try this restaurant to make a reservation. The waitress made it clear that they drew a large crowd even on weeknights. Unfortunately on that night, the food did not live up to its reputation. Our scallop and calamari pasta was bland and had to be spiced up with lots of Tabasco and chilli flakes. The lasagne was average but I suppose I just had higher expectations given the recommendations of the place. Since we've been inundated with different cooking shows on television, the home cook is a lot more adventurous making and tasting food. On the odd occasion, I even make my own pasta and store it in airtight containers. While the Roman Empire Bar probably doesn't beat fresh home-made pasta, it is a decent night out at a fair price.
