My spine injury was not as the result of any injury or accident. It is as a result of a cyst growing out of my spine I now have chronic pain in my lower and in my upper back. It's scary. I feel like a piece of meat being processed. The technicians (I would not call them Physical therapist) appears to be overwhelmed by the shear number of patients that they sometimes forgot you. The staff at VARGO under director Jess Young saved my leg from amputation! I fell from a 6 foot ladder, broke my leg in 3 places shattering my ankle. One year into my rehabilitation, my Therapist Amanda noticed an issue with my leg developing an infection. Told me to seek immediate medical attention. I did and discovered my tibia and fibula did not fuse due to an infection. 3 years, 3 surgeons, 4 surgeries and over 3 weeks total hospital stays I have a total ankle replacement and with the Vargo teams knowledge, care and encouragement I am working on a full recovery. I had two hip replacements this year. I have been fortunate to have Amanda during my recovery. Her care, knowledge, and listening skills are truly outstanding. I have had great success working with Amanda. She explains all treatment modalities in a manner that is easily understood. I referred my mother after she broke her pelvis. She also received excellent care from Amanda and the fine staff at Vargo Physical Therapy. Recently, my husband was experiencing numbness in his hands due to ruptured discs in his neck. I shattered my tibia and fibula in my left foot in August. It was a gruesome injury with a recovery time of one year. My objective with physical therapy (PT) was to return to the lifestyle of regular hikes and walks. I initially started using Kaiser's PT department for a couple of months after my cast was removed (October) but ultimately chose Vargo simply because it was closer to home. This facility is amazing. The staff is knowledgeable and capable of giving reasonable directives for recovery. I do not feel rushed through my recovery here but rather I feel a sense of true compassion for my needs. I strongly recommend using this location for your PT needs. I only wish I would have initially come to this location for my needs. read more

My wife was being seen by them for a few months and everything was going well until they challenged her to deeper squats which caused her to have more pain. I initially thought this place was good but over visits I began to realize they aren't. As for the clinic director, Jesse, don't be fooled by the other reviews who I suspect got the friends and family discount. In reality Jesse pretends to listen to your concerns only to respond rather dismissively. I get it, you're already in the door and he really only needs to care about getting the next batch of patients in to meet the patient quota the company has. My suspicion that they don't really care was confirmed when I heard them mocking a patient while I was in the bathroom which is next to their coffee break area. I don't recommend going to any Vargo. the only plus to this location is the teriyaki joint next door. read more

I had a weird experience here. One of the guys who worked on me is kinda creepy. When he talked to me the first time, he was staring at me for a long time. Like a staring contest. I'm a makeup artist and I'm in front of people's faces everyday. But I've never been stared like. I took my puppy to a training class years ago. The dog trainer told me if my dog started a staring contest, do not look away. I have been going here for treatment of my frozen shoulder and have been twice so far, (I have 3 more sessions) My therapists are Jesse & Bobby and no joke they are miracle workers. I have the added problem of not being able to stand to do exercises and I prefer a fan with the heating pad & they are happy to accommodate me ;) . These guys are great! Yes some of it is painful, but I knew that was how it was gonna be, it's the only way to get better and I'm 100% better then I was. I was in so much pain prior to coming here, I would end up in tears several times a day and it means so much to me to be able to function again without crying, there are no words for it! Thank you is not enough really , I'm still not back to normal but I'm not needing pain pills everyday now, so I'm thankful to this place and these guys!! You both gave me my life back! This place runs like an orchestra! Everyone is super organized and all the equipment and supplies move perfectly in sync with the patients. Nothing was out of place for even a second. On one hand I'm surprised by the reviews but then again I'm not since so many mention it was their first time in PT. That should have been a red flag as they have nothing to compare vargo too. Disappointingly, vargo is just anothed PT mill basically they only care about patient volume and profits with no care for actual quality of treatment IMO. After your initial eval, you are quickly handed off to an unlicensed/ no formal schooling aide after barely seeing the primary therapist, Jesse...who seems burnt out. Even then you don't get a lot of attention from aides as they just leave the bands and boards at your table and mention the exercise as they are half walking away to the next patient. Two stars because I guess it's better than nothing. read more

Jesse, the managing physical therapist, consults, listens, communicates and prepares a treatment routine to get you better than when you walked in. If something doesn't work, he implements another plan of attack. He is willingto change things up and not give up. He has a great bedside manner and is very skilled at his profession and works well with each patient. He is also fluent in Spanish which is a plus. He has everything running professionally, and working in sync. Jesse runs a tight ship. A+. Then there's the second physical therapist which is a female (ugh, forgot your name, sorry!) who also speaks fluent Spanish and is very dedicated in her job. More on the reserved side, but knows her stuff! Bobby, the physical therapist assistant is full of life, organized and on top of things. He, too, watches over things making sure all things are running smoothly and each area is clean and in its place while assisting the patients and helping direct the Aides. Then there was Raul, a former employee/student, with a great demeanor. He was a great asset, but he returned to finish his schooling. Alyssa, an Aide, learning the ropes when I arrived, and by the time I was leaving, she could direct each patient, accordingly. She's right on top of things, knowing the patients routine and helping them along. Amaro (sorry, if I got it wrong) newly positioned after serving as a volunteer fits in great. Busy, helping patients with their routine, folding towels or just getting ice, he's doing a great job. Each one doing their job and treating each patient with kindness and respect and fully encouraging each one in positivity. It's a place I'd return to and or refer someone to. It's a facility you look forward to going; to improve your physical condition or symptoms. A presence of warmth and welcome. And I do say, welcome. You are greeted and shown you are valued by being acknowledged and heard. The whole teams works together and it's nice to see how they genuinely all get along. I'm on my last visit for a broken foot and I have to say I have really enjoyed my 6 visits. Jesse, the manager, is knowledgeable, skilled, and always remembered my name. Bobby is genial, motivating and fun to talk to. Everyone is friendly, and what could have been annoying visits turned out to be anticipated. read more

Subpar experience, disappointed as I discovered Vargo is just another PT mill that gives the profession a bad name. Let me tell what your experience will be like. First off the clinic is set up like a locker room, no privacy, you will know everyone's business and they will know yours. This not only goes for other patients which is a hipaa violation but you will also overhear conversations amongst the staff which will only make you wonder what they say about you after you leave. Beyond that, they have up to only 2 Pts for almost ten patients an hour (at least at the times I went in, I heard 7am it's less) ...again it's a mill and all about cramming as many patients in to maximize profit at all cost including patient outcomes. This means you are lucky to spend about five minutes with a PT the rest of the time it's all aides with no formal schooling or training. These aides, who work for minimum wage, are expected to basically run the clinic everything from scrubbing toilets, laundry to scheduling and trying to help several patients an hour with exercises. They can't do it all which is why when you come in, they just dump the bands and balance boards at your table and walk away. They don't really guide you through exercises and make sure you are doing them right. The PTs are burnt out big time! Not surprising by the patient load of having to see 40-45 patients a day. They won't remember things you've told them about your progress, I was mixed up with another patient who I guess had a similar injury. Amanda has severe RBF going on. Jesse could care less, it's paint by the numbers PT with him, and don't make the mistake of talking about how you feel PT isn't working. He will get very defensive and nasty, talk down to you and cut his time spent with you even shorter. Then at the next session act like nothing happened and wanting to put in for even more visits with your insurance. Again, it's a PT mill and all about getting the most out of everyone's insurance or workers comp ... not making sure patients leave satisfied and recovered. Then again, as one of the aides told me as he was running around frantically trying to keep up with the patient volume "that someone has to help the owner keep his private plane fueled". After some time, I realized I was not going to get the best outcome there so I went somewhere else and was happily blown away by the difference. The PT watched me walk in and didn't even need to look at my referral...they knew what was going on. Explained things in both scientific and layman's terms, talked with you not down at you, recorded my legs walking on his phone so he could show me while he was explaining and best part is they actual spend time with you during your visits, helping with exercises to make sure you are doing them right and getting the most out of your visit.The difference between a PT chain mill like Vargo and a smaller local independent clinic is night and day. To Vargo FU for wasting my time and money and treating your patients like crap and underpaying your employees. To Jesse, I want to believe that you chose physical therapy as a career to help people and it's just the Vargo atmosphere and mill mentality that has gotten to you. For your own sanity and happiness, I strongly suggest you to seek employment with another company where you can be the attentive physical therapist your patients need and deserve. read more

I have ongoing issues with my legs so every now and then I check myself into physical therapy for help and I've seen how several different locations run. Vargo was the best by far. The facility is neat and clean with well maintained equipment. COVID is properly taken seriously here: face coverings required, hand washing etc. Staff is great and friendly and remembered my name. Jesse really took time to understand my issues, asked the right questions of me, and I got my questions answered. They gave me a printout of my exercise program and an app that guides you through how to do each part at home. Really impressed and thankful, I had a great experience here so thank you! read more

I have a referral for physical therapy for Vargo in San Fernando. I called and they asked me to renew my referral and told me it was too vague. I spoke to my doctor's office about that and they assured me that it wasn't vague, there would be no problem. After more than a week of waiting, I finally got the referral and called to make an appointment. The woman I spoke with said it wasn't clear. It couldn't just say pain in multiple joints. That would not be good enough for them. She began arguing with me that they needed more and it would be up to me to get it. I told her that I had waited quite a while and wished to be seen. Why was she arguing with me about the wording of the referral. I told her she was rude and unprofessional. She falsely said that I had called her names and hung up on me. I called back and wanted to speak to a supervisor, but she said none was available. She offered to take my number and have someone call me but refused to give me the name of the supervisor or a number for their main offices. You know, I am not calling for a haircut. I am in pain and in need of therapy. Now, I have to wait for another referral. This is very bad service and bad medical care. read more
