The first odd part was that the office manager greets you and then takes you to another room to give you a tour and go over a "health history" (including medical conditions, medications, etc). Not sure why an office manager is doing that and not a dental professional like a hygienist or dentist himself; she also acted surprised about the medication I was taking at the time (really should not be judging someone about that). Then she hands me some literature about living your best life, that turns out to be literature written by the scientologist E Ron Hubbard and is a pro-scientology brochure - which, in my opinion, is completely unprofessional (I did some research later and discovered the dentist and his wife/office manager are scientologists which, is fine if they are, but should not be trying to recruit people in a dental setting). The hygienist was nice enough, although my jaw felt sore the next couple of days so she might have been too rough - and, for the record, I go to the dentist twice a year and have no cavities. The dentist came in and barely said two words, just started looking at my mouth and shouting out numbers, etc. Also he was wearing those plastic gloves that you see on food service workers, not medical grade gloves. I was so put off at the end of this appointment that I did not reschedule and decided to never go back. I am not sure where the good reviews are coming from.

When it comes to medical care, I value skill over all other factors. Dr. Aminlari is the best technical Endodontist I have ever encountered. He ensures that the area on which he needs to work is completely numb before doing any work. And when he works, he does so quickly and efficiently. In addition to surgical skill, it's nice to have a good beside manner and Dr. Aminlari has that as well. He and his support team are relaxed and friendly, creating a positive environment for what most people consider a traumatic experience. During a procedure, they regularly check to make sure you're OK and make adjustments as necessary. Obviously, no-one wants to have extensive dental work done but when it's necessary, you want to have it done by the best doctor you can find and Dr. Aminlari is definitely at the top of his field.

Dr. Aminlari/A2 endodontics was able to get me in within one week for a "questionable" tooth that was only intermittently hurting. They were able to provide me a price range over the phone when I scheduled, and on the day of the appointment the office staff and technician were very personable, open and friendly. I waited less than 5 minutes in the waiting room, and this was only because I had arrived a bit early. I have an unfortunate anatomy/physiology such that it is difficult to get adequately numbed- it takes a lot of shots and extra time to block pain signals. Dr. Aminlari was committed to making sure I was as comfortable, and was not at all judgmental or rushed like most other dentists that I have seen. He was not concerned about the time it took; while it required some trial an error to see if the local was adequate, he was very responsive to my indications of pain and immediately stopped to administer more when needed. The actual root canal procedure was very quick (especially compared to others I have had). He was also very patient with all of my nosey curious questions about tooth anatomy, and which intrument does what, haha. It was a chunk of money for me to be sure- but an imminently fair and reasonable price, in my opinion, given the years of education, training, costs associated with running a business, employing staff, etc. Also, I have paid a lot more at other dental specialists for inexcusably poor service/outcome, so I am more than happy to pay someone who does a great job and is also kind. Who wants a root canal? Literally no one. Did it hurt a little at times? Yes, but they did everything in their power to minimize this; they were super nice and responsive and I felt safe there. They got me out the door in just over an hour. They even called the next day to check on how I was doing, which is rare these days. If you find yourself in the unfortunate situation of needing a root canal, no worries this is the place.

After the root canal, pain remained, so was sent back so they could double-check. He said it was fine, despite (again) my explaining the sensitivity and pain while chewing. Trusting his analysis, went forward with the treatment (crown without root canal). Less than a year later, *surprise* I need a root canal... I would go elsewhere or get a second opinion before complying with their recommendations. Also, beware of their billing practices. Charged me twice, even though they told me I wouldn't be billed because it was the same tooth. Had to argue and fight to get refunded...

On June 24th, 2004 I had my appointment for a root canal and Dr. Racek reminded me about possible outcomes and also reassured me that the procedure wouldn't hurt and ya know what?!? He was right. He applied the gel that numbed the area for the needle and told me I'd feel a little poke but I felt nothing at all. The last 2 injections I felt a teeny bit but that's not even worth mentioning here. (Although as you can see, I did mention it here.) They let the anesthesia set in and soon Dr. Racek began his work. His calm and confidence rested easily on my mind, and he'd reassure me telling me things were going well. The 2 gals that assisted him showed perfection at their own jobs and they worked together supremely well. All 3 of them, really. I was told the procedure could last an hour to an hour and a half, but with the expertise and the perfectly scripted requirements of each of their positions, they were done in just over half an hour. I was in awe, dumbfounded and amazed at the end of it. Done so soon? Wow! Not to mention I was very happy, too. Back at home the anesthesia wore off after a bit and I had no pain at all. I needed a root canal and dreaded it, particularly since my regular dentist thought I needed a specialist for this particular tooth. Dr. Armstrong is very calm and good humored. He worked as quickly as possible while still doing a stellar job. He also worked a miracle, somehow managing to complete the task without me ending up in tears due to jaw pain, or nearly choking on water and spit running down my throat. If I ever need another root canal, I'll be returning to Dr. Armstrong!
