If I save just one person the headache this review will be worth it. I paid this firm over $20K for sheer incompetence. The attorney was young and inexperienced. They couldn't keep track of documents from opposing counsel or those submitted through their pipe file. The $20K was just them trying to track documents and my case was simple. Communication is poor....most of the time you are wondering where you are in your divorce. They do not provide you with copies of court filed documents unless you ask and if this is your first rodeo you won't know to ask. It was a grueling experience. Avoid at all costs. They came reffered to me from a very large Miami moms Facebook group. Biggest mistake of my life . They do not care about their clients . My case could not have been more simple, asking for 50:50 on everything. They prolong the case to take 5+ months after telling me it would take two. They never updated me about my case, until I had to reach out to them almost weekly in order for anyone to get back to me. They continue to charge a retainer monthly purposefully, so they will prolong cases and make more money. I am a single working mother and they made me feel like garbage the entire time. I expressed to them multiple times my concerns and they just made up excuses and lied directly to me about the reasons for the delay. They are not for the man/ex-husband, just pitched that way. I paid over $6,000, for a 10 min conversation between my "attorney" and judge (waited 6months). The worst attorney and paralegal (Heather Brown) that I had ever deal with in my entire life! They took advantage of my mother when I was not with her at her office. That includes telling my mom an amount only for this "attorney's services and when my mother went without me to sign the contract, thre paralegal of Vanessa charged my mother 500 hundred dollars more! Of course! I wasn't there so that was the perfect plan My mother is old and shy and a piece of bread! Still, she asked if it wasn't the first price given by Vanessa and Heather, the paralegal said that not so my mom, in good faith and believing in her, paid the wrong amount and signed the contract! When my mom told me, I asked for a metting right away and Vanessa said that it was ok and that she will give my mom the money back but we are still waiting... After I gave Vanessa some tips on what to do with my mom's divorce because she is very laid back and she lives in another world where she only say ("yes, no and that's it") and after I found out the date of the first hearing of the divorce by another person that wasn't her, I called her and she asked me if we didn't know? Didn't know? She never called neither me or my mother to tell us about it! How Come in the world my mom will know? She was the only one that received the court"s Messages as The Lawyer she was of my mom! But always, we knew frrom her paralegal, Heather Brown, she was in vacation in a "boat" like She once screamed at me over the phone meaning a cruise ( that's a very big boat). Talking of this paralegal, Heather Brown, does not speak Spanish and Vanessa promotes that she (Vanessa) speak Spanish. There are two important points in this. First, in Miami as in all Florida as in other states as well, there are a lot of Spanish speaking people. Most of the professionals in any area are learning to speak in Spanish or are looking for personnel or staff that are bilingual. I'm the case of Heather, how she can deal with a Spanish speaking person that wants to talk to Vanessa is she is the one that answers the phone and the only paralegal job that we know that she does is saying that she has to talk to Vanessa to explain to her what do you need? Then, the fact that Heather answers the calls, doesn't that makes that what Vanessa said regarding that they speak in Spanish, is a lie? Heather also likes to make faces when talking to Vanessa by phone. My mom saw this when she went alone the last time to the office and that is very disrespectful and even more to a senior woman who is more than respectful to others. By the way, all this is not a kind of discrimination against a senior citizen that doesn't understand very well English? Even more, are not two different kind of discrimination against my mother? One for her age and the other for been Latina? My mother always told this attorny, that most of the time, I will be in contact with her in case my mother, who is very sick, couldn't talk because of the worsening of her multiples conditions. When I began to see what they were doing to my mother, of course I try to talk to Vanessa but there was not time to talk to me. Most of the time, when a person is doing something wrong,they try to avoid, turn around things and blame the client or whomever is the family of the client that is helping the client with his/her consent. This is what she tried to do with me and my mom. Also, they made my mom signed a document so my mother has to paid for it additionally without telling my mother that this was another thing that was not included in the contract and at the other day, and the next day, they sent an email with more additional charges of phone calls! Who was taking the time of the phones conversation that she had with my mom if she wasn't available most of the times? Do you have any idea of how odd and difficult is to protect yor mother from her own attorney? Unbelievable, right? Or one of you have a worse story based on actual facts like this one? It it is so, please, post it in here so I can feel better! I trust in her because I saw all the recommendations of her in a very well know site and I tought it was for real. It is but in her case, I think that all the Dominican Republic's friends of her parents, posted the recommendations! Even, a friend of mine from Puerto Rico, received an invitation from her so she can accept her! I was in shocked!Why this attorney contacted a friend of mine and sent a request to her when my friend have no idea of who she is? Weird, ah? And one of my friends told me to be careful with her because she only wants money and take it easy. Finally, we didn't disagree with her decision of withdrawal! What kind of person wants someone like this attorney to fight for her? At least, we can expressed most of this in front of the judge! But this woman, Vanessa, is really desperate for money !
