I go there for my cat crybaby I had her nurtured the doctor was fantastic I never forget how they all made me feel for I was so nervous.I also go there for my cats shots well I decided to take another cat I have there and I was soooo worry she was sick, however they took excellent care of girlie as they did for crybaby. I went back again about 2 months ago for crybaby was under the weather I got a different veterinarian he was horrible and no help diagnosis what was wrong on thing for sure I never let this guy treat my cats again he was rude , obnoxious, sarcastic, insulting, and it still bothers me!!!!! read more

This animal hospital in Dunmore is probably the MOST expensive hospital in the Scranton-Dunmore area. Every time I took my small dog to them to get her anal glands expressed, I had to pay a minimum of $78.00 for the technician to do it, or over $120.00 for the vet to do it. I've since changed hospitals and go to one near Clarks Summit, and their cost for the same procedure---even if the doctor does it---is only $20. BIG DIFFERENCE!! I can also be in the same room with my dog while the procedure is being done. I'll never go back to the VCA in Dunmore because they are a rip-off!! read more

we had a late night emergency with or Chihuahua Cosmo which was 13yrs of age we contact or local Vet. VCA they got us immediatel. was very compassionate, tried everything possible to help him. very thankful for there professionalism and compassion. read more

Veterinarians and staff are professional and courteous but this place will bankrupt you. They will bleed you dry over several months (literally thousands of $). Even just their office visit prices ($70+) are insane. Highly recommend going elsewhere if you're looking for anything other than a yearly/routine visit. read more

originally posted 10/15/14: just got back from vca dunmore. i think my dog is dying. he choked all night and we made sure we were at the vca animal hospital as soon as it opened! arnie, front desk operator, waited on me and told me with hated pleasure, that they would NOT see my dog unless i paid the $217 i owe them from 2 months ago plus today's visit!! i could see she enjoyed saying that. wrong person for that job! compassion at it's finest. it's ok to spend all of your money all of your animals lives there, but fall behind and your animal doesn''t count for a thing when you really need the help! HORRIBLE! i have to take him to the emergency vet in clarkes summit now. they sound compassionate at least! but don't hold your breath!! 'Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center' chinchilla, pa. (not on YELP) is there strictly for the MONEY!! it doesn't matter if you paid mortgages, cars, if your in business etc... MONEY FIRST! should be their motto! if you can't pay - you suffer. they don't care!! you and your dying dog can leave now!! i guess my dog will just have to die suffering! sick to my stomach!! my dog had to be put down. was it that hard to just tell me and help me?! the 'dr' at the emergency referral in chinchilla, pa. actually told me my dog was 'as healthy as a horse.' i'm crying knowing my puppy was dying and she's telling me this with a estimate of $675 for more tests! instead of telling me, 'any dog at thirteen is old. and he may really be sick' - took my $95 and sent me and my dying puppy out the door! Cannot say enough good things about the care and compassion that our dogs receive at VCA. The staff is incredibly friendly and seem to sincerely care for the animals that come through their door. We have two young dogs and we are so happy with the care they receive, the ease of contacting the office and how easy it is to get an appointment when needed. They are thorough and extremely competent whether it is a routine check up or more complex procedure. They have very fair pricing and offer great wellness plans like the CareClub which in my opinion is worth every penny. We absolutely look forward to our appointments especially with Dr. Esopi and Maria! They also have a great app that is very user friendly! read more

They were wonderful when helping us deal with our Kitten who had cancer. They referred us to a place that did radiation and helped keep her healthy with pain medications and steroids for as long as possible. Unfortunately when the time came that we had to put her to sleep they were very kind and understanding. I hope we do not have to go through that again but if it should happen we will go back in a heartbeat. We also take our remaining cats there when they need vaccines or are sick. read more

You know a lot of people think that because they're animals, their care shouldn't be expensive. But fact of the matter is they need testing and medication just like humans!!! And I do have to say the only Vet I trust with my animals is Dr. Ramsi. I have been going to him from when he was an "Intern" with Dr. Kroll in the old Drinker Street Building. The man really knows his stuff. Very caring and compassionate. Knows what he's talking about. Very Good at what he does. Very caring and compassionate. Two years ago I had five very sick feral cats. He took me in as an Emergency Case. I didn't know what was wrong with them. Well they all had a very high fever and he ran blood work on them. He gave them each a very strong antibiotic and wrapped them in ice. Was there for two hours waiting to get the temperature down. Took them home with the medicine. Brought them back the next day for a recheck. All were doing better. Took them back a week later for a recheck and they were doing Great!!! Eating & Drinking; gained their weight back!!! And they're still going strong!!! You know when Dr. Ramsi was at the old building no matter when or what time I called he would get back to me. And it seemed like it never failed, one of my animals would get sick on a Sunday or Holiday. Took my cat there on New Years Eve, he kept him. Through the night he had to do surgery on him. He came through fine. His assistant was in taking care of him, and stayed with him!!! And then there are the times when I had to get my animals put to sleep. Stays right with them, very caring and thoughtful!!! And believe it or not Dr. Ramsi used to make house Calls!!! My mother's dog who was 22 years old and sickly, Dr. Ramsi came to the house with his Assistant Sara and put him to sleep. Sat right there with him!!! My point is Dr. Ramsi is an Excellent Dr. Really knows his stuff. Very Kind and Compassionate, and always tells you what he's going to do and how much it will cost!!! I have never lost an animal with him. Yeah, I had to get a few put to sleep, but they did have Cancer. The man knows what he is doing and He's Really Great At What He Does!!! read more

Always a pleasure to bring my pet to this animal hospital. It is always clean and professional looking. The staff is friendly and I can tell they are good with animals because my 15-year-old Poodle is totally calm when I bring him. It is easy to schedule an appointment, and the appointments take place in a timely manner. One time my beloved dog needed a costly surgery and instead of having to put him to sleep this vet was willing to take payments; my dog has lived an additional 6 years since surgery. read more

I really like the female vet. The male constantly feeds my dog when we're in which in do not like because we're training him to not take food from strangers (for his own safety). The front desk help is Terrible. Called to see if they sold a particular flea medication before coming in. Then when I got there I was told they didn't carry it. And she was not apologetic that I had been misinformed be another staff member. They also don't ever say hello when you walk in just make you stand there awkwardly until they get to you. Pretty rude and un helpful. I will be finding another vet for our animals read more

Very odd visit at VCA-Dunmore on 3/11/15. First as I'm walking in with my rabbit for appt. scheduled for teeth and nail trimming and examination of suspicious lumps on the skin - the vet is walking out the door! So I wait. I noticed no other clients in the waiting room. Then I am given a $500 plus estimate for various blood tests, X-rays, etc. - and noticed they tacked on an anesthesia fee for the teeth trimming which was never performed before (teeth trimmed every 6 mos.) and unnecessary which I refused. The exam with teeth and nail trimming was $134.86. I informed the staff that I need a few days to think about the charges regarding the skin problem and best route to take and would get back to them. When I checked out (again noticed no one in waiting area w/pets) I was charged an additional $30 for the exam fee, in which I was quoted over the phone it would be around $50. Being upset at the time, thinking my rabbit had cancer (and losing an older cat from the same within the past year) - I paid the bill. I am called the following day and pressured to set up an appt. for my rabbit for tests. I asked if I would be refunded the over-quote of $30 and informed by office manager "oh, well the staff shouldn't have quoted that for an exotic" - when I informed her that the staff was well aware that I had a rabbit. She then stated she would refund me $10...what greed - $79.95 just to look at my rabbit? I was quoted around $50. Bad business practices, if I must say so. Going to Memorial Hsp. in Throop - they charge $62.50 for an exam - and hope they are fair regarding other necessary testing. read more

They were so rude. Telling me it was life or death to do a procedure for $900 gave me anoth option for antibiotics after I said no and my cat was fine. Had no idea about any of the flea and tick meds for dogs or cats. You would think they should know their own products. Terrible service. Our parakeet passed on yesterday, and, unfortunately, our regular vet (Dr. Shaffer at Hamlin Veterinarian Hospital) doesn't work with exotics. While our Sunny bird was near death the vet found it necessary to give us pointers on what to feed him, since he was so underweight!!!!! He was so close to death, as the vet Chaudhari admitted, but his jargon went on. Sunny was almost nine years old (their life span is 8-10), we always fed him well and what HE liked, but according to this vet, while Sunny was in my hands suffering, the vet said we should have given him dried worms, etc. (I suppose this is how Chaudhari justified charging us $85.00 for the office exam - by giving us food tips.) Our Sunny didn't need an exam - the only thing he needed was to have his pain ended. The euthanasia charge was $110.25 but lowered to $65.00 after we complained. Sunny was given back to us to take home and be buried in a small, junky box that had labels ripped off it; it was clearly a box that had been mailed to them with supplies in it. Sunny deserved much better than that; the office manager called me this morning apologizing profusely for Chaudhari's actions and for the disgusting box they put our friend in. She said it was all a horrible mistake and inexcusable. Perhaps, since we are not clients, our bird was not given respect? Whatever the reason, we declined offers from the office manager to mail us cat food (we have cats) or compensate us in some other way; what's done is done and NOTHING given to us at this point will change the outcome of yesterday nor will it change our opinion of the VCADunmore Animal Hospital. read more
