Not being a fan of mall restaurants (or malls) I was apprehensive when my host suggested we walk to the mall and have Italian for lunch. This would not be my first option for my first meal in Santiago.
We sat upstairs by the bar which I thought was a good option at first until the rest of lunch crowd appeared along with at least 2-4 kids in tow. I have to say the kids were all well behaved and were kept occupied with their phones and the restaurant supplied crayons.
We started out with a Pisco Sour. For some reason whenever I visit here my hosts order this cocktail like it's my first visit and I must try. Trust me I'm not complaining.
So we started out with a salmon carpaccio plate and some fresh bread. I ordered a pesto pasta dish for my main course. To be honest it was OK not great, but it's all about setting your expectations. The pasta was cooked el dente, perfect, but the pesto was a tad bland. You also get a large, sharing, salad green plate to accompany your meal. We also split a bottle of Chilean wine that was a great wine at the price point.
In summary this was a good option for lunch. read more
