What a wonderful avant-garde, kitschy performance of Reefer Madness last evening! We were " blown away" by the acting, singing and general enthusiasm of the participants. I literally cannot find enough PRAISE WORDS for the production of "AN ACT OF GOD" currently playing at this venue. The incredible acting of BRAD WAGES, who plays God, and his memorization of his lines is above and beyond anything I have witnessed in a very long time. The man is just AMAZING!!! The supporting cast of Debbi White, who plays the angel Gabriel, as well as Patrick Mounce, who acts as archanger Michael were also well done. It was funny, a bit crude at times, but always soooo entertaining!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! read more

Very pleasant staff and facility. Very comfortable seating, good sound and screen size.

This is a really cute theatre. Venice is a small town so don't expect anything large and overly ornate. That being said they have some very entertaining shows here. Inside the theatre is very pretty nothing overly showy but worth going to. read more

The Theatre is too small, the audio is poor. Seats on planes have just about as much leg room. It was difficult to hear what the performers were singing. And, while I know this is supposed to be a review of the theatre, I also question the director's choice in plays, or how they're depicted. Rocky Horror Picture Show came again to the tiny theatre of Venice, just in time for the Halloween festivities of 2017. For a small theatre ensemble, the costumes and set design were pretty good, but to say they did the movie of the same name any favor would be offending THE MOVIE. Some scenes were simply in poor taste, and not appropriate for the older audience of Venice. I'm not a prude, and I know the story-line, but disgusting antics to showcase the sexuality choices of 2017(as opposed to 1975's version) went well over the line. Pulling a pubic hair out of your mouth once, disgustingly funny; twice...thrice, just purely disgusting. Throwing a used condom out of bed once is gross, twice lacks creativity, but to have it eaten by one of the characters is beyond comprehension. It's really too bad the the overtly obvious sex scenes and over the line horror of disgust over-shadowed some pretty good acting. Seamen flung prophylactics are simply not funny. Clean it up and it would be worth another try. Hmm, wonder what "Debbie Does Dallas" will be like. I, for one, will never know. read more

I saw Grapes of Wrath this weekend and it was a very moving and unique experience. I was deeply impressed with the professional talent of the actors and the creative, outstanding set design. We were thrust into the bleak lives of those who traveled West to find work in a horribly desperate time in American history with real rain and even the Colorado river recreated on stage!! Steinbeck is my favorite author and the troup certainly did justice to the classic. Thank you. read more

Unbelievably rude manager named Barbara Mullen. We bought tickets for South Pacific on a night when there was a boat show and all the bridges were closed so you couldn't get over on the island unless we went over before 6 PM. But instead of having this information readily available on their website for people purchasing tickets for that particular night, they chose to send an email to people to purchase tickets for that night and day before the performance telling you that you have to come over to the island at 6 PM and wait at a restaurant until it was time to go to theater. Which we could not have done anyway because my mother is in a wheelchair and she can only be out for certain amount of time. That we did not have this information when we purchased tickets, so I requested a day off work, purchased tickets, and let my mother know I'd take her to see the performance. After driving 45 minutes to try to get to the performance and found out we couldn't get onto the island at seven but I had no idea because I don't check my email on the weekend- like most normal human beings. I called the theater to let them know that we weren't able to get to the island because my mom is in a wheelchair and we can't walk over for a mile. I received a rude email back from the manager, Barbara Mullen, telling me I needed to "check my email" because they "sent this information out" out (one day before). We had to turn around and come home after all of that and instead of having an offer of a refund due to the theater is lack of planning and letting people know in an appropriate way and amount of time about this prohibitive issue, we received Barbara's attitude in response telling us it was basically our fault because we didn't check email. Even if I had checked my email a day before this information would've precluded us from coming to the performance. Not everyone is a local and you do need to provide this information ahead of time. If the bridges are closed to the island that is crucial information the customers need. This seems obvious and for anyone who does their job in a professional way, they would've had the foresight to put this information on the website for people purchasing tickets to this evening's performance. If you have any kind of issues with this theater that is unprofessional and doesn't plan out the information that they need to get to their patrons, don't even bother contacting the manager because she is rude and unprofessional. It's unfortunate that sometimes people who don't have any people skills get into management but it does happen. My mother, who has brain cancer, was robbed of the opportunity to see a performance we paid $80 for and we were given an attitude because of something we had no way of predicting and weren't given any information about in a way that we could've received in order to get my mom to this performance. And then we were treated badly and with an attitude when I tried to say something about the loss of the opportunity to see the performance and weren't given any kind of refund. This is absolutely the worst customer service experience I have ever had in my entire life. And it was all served up with a nasty and unprofessional attitude, blaming the customer for the theater's complete lack of planning. At the very least we should have received a refund but all we received was Barbara Mullen's nasty and condescending attitude. Horrible experience. read more

Took my husband to see his favorite play, Hair. Perfection, for a small local theater! We have been to Venice theater before and that experience was wonderful also. We have Broadway in NYC and now the Venice Theater. read more

We recently went to Shen Yun. It was so warm inside the theater, with the exception of a few times when the dry ice flowed into the audience. Many folks were fanning themselves with the programs. Turn up the AC please!! read more

Possibly the most interesting thing to do in Venice, Florida. It's theater, and I appreciate that. It's also not the best theater, and that makes it interesting on a whole other level. I came here with my snowbird mother to watch their production of the Miser. I was entertained. It's certainly not Broadway, and the $27 ticket price was a bit steep, but I enjoyed myself. There were about 3 rows of seats, in the round, and a cheap plastic set. The costumes were ill-fitting. Some of the performers were high school students, others were seasoned veterans of the D-list theater circuit, and a few seemed to be pulled off the street. I couldn't really tell where Moliere's cutting satire in the Mister ended, and the cheapness of this production began. But that's ok, by act 2 I was fully emotionally invested in the play. The entire audience was elderly, except for a few performers who came by to support their colleagues. Apparently, my mother had also seen Avenue Q here. That would have been a sight, surely. read more

Great theater. For such a small city, they have a great theater with a wide variety of productions. We saw The Scopes Monkey Trial and it was a great drama. My dad has winter season tickets and says the musicals are very good too. This is a hidden gem in Venice Florida. read more
