So obviously, I read reviews on different agents. I'd come across more than a handful of realtors with very high reviews, but wanted the best God had for us. So we prayed and asked God to lead us to the right agent. Long story short, I called a female agent about a house and left a message. By the next day we still hadn't heard from her. She called and texted back over the weekend but for some reason we kept missing each other. So I contacted another realtor who also had very high reviews who was selling a different house to ask about another house. At this time, we still had plans to go with the female realtor. However, Scott (the 2nd agent/realtor) contacted us right away. I was up-front with him and told him that we were looking at another agent waiting for her call. Scott kindly said that there was no need for that and he can help us...lol. Now, let me just stop and say that Scott did NOT poach from another agent. The other agent hadn't yet spoken to us. With that being said, I believe it was God answering our prayers. We agreed to keep Scott as our agent because of his high reviews. However, I personally believe it was more to it. Feel free to think of it like this, God chose our realtor for us. With that being said, this market was and is "stupidly other worldly". We barely saw nor liked most of the houses on the market. We started out almost $180k lower in the beginning. We were just starting out not really understanding the market. Scott, was never pushy. He gave us the space to figure it out. There was a lull period until April 2025. We went up almost $100k from where we first began. We put an offer on a house. Again, Scott gave his gentle input but let us figure it out. The seller went with another offer. I'm personally happy they did. The market was horrible at that time and I agreed to buying out of desperation. Our desire was to buy in North Peoria or Dunlap. Unfortunately, the houses in those area's are ridiculously priced. Let's move up to 2026. We increased to $180k above our original amount. We finally saw a house in July of 2026 that we were interested in again. Scott showed us the house and we put an offer on it right away. If you've gotten to this point in the review ask Scott what happened next. It's as if God held this house just for us. No one put an offer on the house!!!! Guys, it made absolutely no sense. We were able to negotiate with the sellers. Scott gave us a starting point and we went from there. Scott was adamant about not letting the sellers keep us waiting for an answer past 24 hours. He was on top of everything. Needless to say we purchased this house in a desirable neighborhood for significantly under asking price with Scott's help. We know it was ultimately God that did it. But I do believe that Scott was God's choice for us. He stuck with us through this crazy market for almost 2 years. We were picky because we didn't want to accept the dictations of the market. I'm sure it was frustrating to Scott to go without a sell for that long. Scott, we appreciate your attitude and gentle grace (which I think is your superpower) throughout this 2 year journey. The lead agent Janet Rosecrans in 3 months never called or viewed my property once. How is she supposed to sell something she never even took the time to walk through! In addition, no professiinal photgrapher was ever sent out the listing photos was what the associate took with his cell phone. Also it took 6 weeks to correct the ad that was placed on the house. They failed to screen potential buyers or their agents and wasted my time. In 3 months I never reecieved a call from either agent to discuss my listing or to advise me of any progress or developments or if we needed to change anything. In this market you need an agent that will work for you not list it and do nothing. I canceled the contract and will look elsewhere.
