Met my sister for late brunch on Thursday morning. We where greeted at the door and promptly served with chilled water and menus. Waitress was lovely and very friendly. The main highlight of cafe is its gorgeous interior and decor with lovely street view and opened aired Windows. It isn't too busy but really churns out a lot of takeaway coffees for office workers.
I ordered large flat white which was well done but little bitter. I also had BLAT - bacon, lettuce avocado, tomato on Turkish bread for $11. My sister had smashed avocado on toast for $7.
Regrettably, both avocado on my sandwich and sisters toast was far too ripe and hard and inedible. Really, it shouldn't have been served to paying customers. It is unfortunate Australia is going through serve avocado shortage right now but it certainly dampened our experience. I was also unhappy that avocado smash on toast was served simply as half cut avocado on toast. At other cafes it is smashed and added with herbs, salt and pepper. The customer shouldn't have to do all the work themselves.
On another note, the cooking staff were very accomodating of my request to have mushrooms instead of bacon on sandwich at no extra cost.
I think I would try Vento again but only as second choice to Sotto down the road. Te prices are very reasonable for the area and would be great for families. read more
