We live in San Antonio, have a dear friend in Austin who is living with significant health issues. Knowing she LOVES flowers, I looked for a florist that could deliver something special to bring some joy. My quest was complicated by me being involuntarily detained for an extended time frame by our resident monster (of the feline persuasion), without my credit card nearby. I was delighted, then, to find Verbena Floral Design online, who could not only customize an arrangement, but could do so totally online, including payment. Their high rating online together with pictures of their gorgeous arrangements left me hopeful. It was very easy to specify colors and flowers, and to include info one normally would give by phone (specifics about the situation, desired mood of the arrangement, etc). Verbena was quick to respond to after hours delivery inquiry I emailed, confirming time and specifics of the completed delivery. Quite late that evening I was informed by recipient that they "LOVED the flowers!!", which was as I'd hoped. Next time I'll ask Verbena to send me a picture of the arrangement as I'd love to see it myself. Overall, Verbena was extremely easy to work with, and met my goal of sending some love. Professional until it wasn't -- 3 weeks ahead of the wedding date. I really enjoyed connecting with this company initially but was really disappointed 3 weeks ahead of the wedding. Additionally I provided a PowerPoint deck for all of my vendors and while most everything had been done according to what I wanted with the flowers about 2 months ahead of the wedding , the welcome sign wasn't what I had asked for. I was windy and it didn't seem like the flowers were attached well. None of my guests captured the flowers on the welcome sign. This was the thank you that I received today from my friend recovering from hip replacement....... thank you for designing and delivering to her such joy!! Thank you so much for this beautiful bouquet. Somebody knew what they were doing because there is such a cacophony of colors and shades-sizes and shapes. It's a work of art with the big American Beauty roses AND tea roses (yellow and pink ) of different sizes AND SHADES TOO. It's a dream bouquet and while I love my grocery store bouquets from thoughtful friends and neighbors, this one stands to show that you get what you pay for when somebody takes into account proportion/size/ distribution of color and shape AND Different greens -shades and shapes. It's a lesson in quality and expertise. Somebody knew what they were doing as it's just perfect. It looks as fresh today as it did yesterday so it will be here for a while. Verbena made all the flower arrangements to fit this color scheme using yellow and orange Calla Lilies, one of my favorite flowers. For the bride's bouquet, they had wrapped flowers with some sturdy green leaves, it looked like a unique, fresh, natural vase to hold the flowers. They did an awesome job. I was looking for a single arrangement for an uber-special client and needed something along the lines of WOW. I dropped by and explained how uncreative I was. I wanted simple, stylish, contemporary and a big blue bow (our company color). I also wanted a small gnome to pop out and scream who it was from anytime someone walked by. She said she could make it all happen except the last part. However, the finished product screamed all without the help of the gnome. To say the client was pleased would be an understatement. I had such a great experience working with LuAnn for my wedding flowers. We did all the planning over the phone and via email as I was planning my Austin wedding from afar. Even still, she was able to perfectly understand what I was going for. I could not have been more pleased with my bouquet! I always knew that selecting flowers were going to be one of my favorite parts of the wedding planning process, and as a result, I knew that finding the right florist was going to be one of my more important decisions. But I have to admit, as soon as I walked into Verbena's lovely shop I knew that they were the florist for me. LuAnn and Cindy were not only welcoming but incredibly collaborative and supportive. As soon as my mom and I had our first meeting with them, we felt as though we had been friends with them for years. They intently listened to what I envisioned for my wedding day and took detailed notes. They also provided photos from previous events they had designed and offered many useful suggestions based on their own experiences. They gave me an outline of what details to send them via email and I received an outline of the pricing within a few days. I opted to add the delivery fee because I didn't want to have family running around on the morning of our wedding to pick up a few flowers. LuAnn was so sweet and actually hand delivered it up to the hotel suite we were all getting ready in! The flowers were simply GORGEOUS. I worked with Devon for my wedding last June. She was very knowledgable on all of the options, and she was very understanding and patient as I changed my mind many times throughout the process. Verbena was always quick to return calls and email, and always fit me into their schedule (even one Friday when they were prepping for a LARGE wedding). Devon listened as I explained the "Feeling" that I wanted to have at my wedding, and she and the other ladies at Verbena did a wonderful job of executing exactly what I had in mind. My mixed mason jars, vintage vases they pulled, and arrangements were beautiful and they did a wonderful job on the large moss letters. You can call in an order to have them deliver, or show up in person. You don't get to pick out the actual flowers they use, which is a bit odd - but you can give them guidelines or suggestions, and let their artistic staff handle the rest. Their store has a number of home decor type things - I bought an awesome sandblasted oak branch here. Verbena does weddings, events and corporate arrangements as well. Over the past few years, I have used Verbena to send flowers, received flowers as a gift, and recommended them to friends without hesitation. Please know in advance that this is not a cookie-cutter FTD-style florist. The designers at Verbena work to create arrangements that are as special as the person receiving them. Expect to pay more as well. I'm also very impressed with the staff's customer service and pride in their work. The only time I ever had an issue (flowers wilted too quickly in my opinion), I emailed Verbena to let them know I was disappointed and sent along a photo. I anticipated receiving a standard apology email - and maybe a discount on a future purchase to appease me. Within 10 minutes, someone had contacted me to discuss the problem and offer a sincere apology. I soon received a lovely complimentary arrangement. The card attached was not a note from Verbena, but rather the text my husband had written for the original bouquet.
