They got a lot of work done in a fairly short period of time is mostly work that I can't do myself even though I'm somewhat of a Handyman. We had Verde Valley do a couple projects at our house, both were poor quality, but the exterior paint was especially disastrous. The painters did little to no prep work (scraping, covering, pressure washing, etc.) prior to painting. They painted the ground, the rocks, our flower beds, hose bibs, etc.. midway through the project they randomly told us they were no longer going to paint our back deck. When we asked them to be more conscientious and considerate of our property, we got a bunch of attitude and aggression from both the painters and their manager Dave. When we brought up our issues to the owner, Matthew, we got the same angry/aggressive response as if we were in the wrong for speaking up. I don't know too many companies that stay in business by bullying and gaslighting their customers, but these guys are certainly trying! read more

I needed a new hot water heater and repair done to the flooring. Neighbors advised me to find someone online and have that person pick one up from HD. I wanted a real, reputable contractor who stood behind the product they selected and installed. Verde Valley Handyman was the only local to fit that description. They came out, provided an estimate and stated that the owner thought that the hot water heaters from Hughes Plumbing Supply in Cottonwood were better than anything from HD. November 1, Bobby installed the new hot water heater and did a great job with the flooring repair. Couldn't wait for the first shower! Only to have not hot water. Okay, wait until the next day giving it plenty of time to heat. Still minimal hot water. VVH sent several technicians, finally determining the fault to be the heater itself. This was where my concern for having one responsible party paid off! VVH replaced the defective heater with a different brand, at no additional cost to me. Brent Denicola came out to my home in the Village of Oak Creek in order to install a new electric cooktop. Because the cutout for the new cooktop was slightly smaller than the size I needed for my new cooktop, Brent had to modify the size of the opening. Prior to doing any cutting, Brent fully masked the area with plastic sheeting in order to minimize the possibility of any dust spreading throughout the kitchen. After he modified the cutout opening, the electric cooktop fit perfectly into place. He then hardwired the cooktop and tested it prior to leaving. Called Matt to help me with an issue I had. He came out right away and looked everything over. He was very clear and upfront about his prices and timeline. I Hired two guys for 3 days as I did not know how long it would take. At first when they arrived everyone seemed a little hesitant about it, so I had them start on another project since they were here. They did a great job with that, so much so that I even hired Lee for an additional 2 days because he was so helpful. In the end, I had what I wanted fixed, along with a whole new subfloor that was destroyed by termites and rot that I was expecting to replace myself. They saved me weeks of my time and energy. I want to leave TEN STARS! These people sent me a genius. Chad looked at the list of things I'd worried about and said "No problem". He got everything done in one afternoon--re-caulked the shower, fixed all the lights, removed the doggie door (and took it away) replaced the shower head and a few other things. Chad knows what he's doing. AND he's a perfectionist. But the best part was that he was polite, friendly, easy to work with AND cleaned up after himself. We called Handyman out to replace a threshold at our back door.The gentleman that came asked us if we would want to replace the whole door,frame and all.We said no,just the threshold... and never heard back from them. Recently Pets Return Home used the services of Verde Valley Handyman, Matthew Shenberger. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!! 1. He had quoted us 6000 to complete 7 jobs. He started 3 and did not finish one. But did get paid. 2. He does not arrive when he says he will. Arriving mostly after 130 PM most days. Some reasons included, he had to "smoke a fatty" to get motivated, no reason given, and he had to stop at Home Depot. 3. Some days he did not show up because it was raining by his house and he did not want to get his truck dirty. 4. His late arrivals caused him to take 4 weeks to finish a 50 sq. ft bathroom and not complete any other work he was contracted to do. 5. He did not listen to our instructions about installing custom wood casing on the doors. This led to 5 boards, only available form Flagstaff and about $30 each to be cut (after we told him no boards needed to be cut. The wood that was cut was installed wrong and had to be removed from the wall. This caused marring on the wall, damaged wood AND HE LEFT THE WOOD WITH NAILS IN IT JUST STANDING UP AGAINST SOME BOXES AND LEFT. 6. He installed a fireplace door with a one-inch gap all the way around. AND the screen doors cannot be opened because of the half ass and incomplete installation. The fireplace is unusable at this point. 7. The 50 sq. ft. 4-week bathroom job was not finished. The bathroom is for our volunteers and public visitors. He did not install the lock on the door - hence no security for the door. 8. He became belligerent, bullying and accusatory when he was asked him if he was going to return to finish the jobs. He said he would return as he said he would once he got his second installment. Feeling we had no choice we paid him another 2500 for a total of $4000. Within minutes of paying him he sent us an email stating he would not be able to come back for some time and here is the number of another guy that can do your work for you cheaper. 9. We will need to purchase new wood, pay to have the fireplace door uninstalled and repaired, pay to have the walls repaired and - our deadline of having all of this completed November 01, 2018 is missed by at least a month or two now. 10. Right now he is laughing and 'smoking a fatty' having fucked us over for the $4000 without completing one project. And yes he was stoned on the job saying it helps him wok better. This is one of the most unethical, overpriced hacks I have ever seen- STAY AWAY FROM THIS RIP OFF HACK Yes we still need the work done, including a tile floor and medical room sinks installed. It is imperative we get it done. If we don't we will lose the Pets Return Home facility - This ass-hat Matt knows this but still took the money and ran. We contracted Verde Valley Handyman to install some new tile floor and paint our entire house. Mathew, the main boss was very attentive and responsive--even when different circumstances came up during any of the tasks. They also went out of their way to fit us in the schedule earlier as opposed to later, because of our living constraints from moving across country. Their painter, Dave, was excellent. He was prompt, organized, and does a wonderful job with the painting. He also was quick to troubleshoot and address any problems that came up in the process. In one case, we had a leak with water in one of our walls. He pointed it out, so that we could take care of it. The men doing the floor overall did a decent job, but the two who came in didn't seem as coordinated as the the two who came in to do the painting. Also, they broke one of the floor moldings, did not finish it, and did not say anything to us about it. We noticed it anyway. They are coming back to do another task in a month, so hopefully, they will take care of it then. Also, one of them left early on the last day, got caught in a storm, so he couldn't return, but even when we emailed him, he did not contact us or come back to pick up his things for three days. Meanwhile, we were worried about that, because he ended up coming to get them in the middle of the moving company delivery which is what we had wanted to avoid. The overall work with the floor was good and the floor looks great, other than the broken molding. Matthew is making sure they complete that work when they return. We would have given 5 star to this company except for those two issues with the one team. Overall they do a good quality job and the painter and owner are quick to respond and solve any issues that come up. read more

Verde Handyman advertises widely in our area. We contacted him regarding putting up two ceiling fans and replacing a closet light. The first time I spoke with him, he seemed nice enough. He then called back to talk to me about an appointment. My spouse answered and when Matthew (the Verde Handyman) asked for me without identifying himself, my spouse asked him politely "May I ask whom is calling?" He responded, "you can ask" Eventually, he said "Matthew" but still did not say who he was or why he was calling. I came on the phone and we sorted that one out. On the day of the appointment, Matthew called to say he was coming earlier. My spouse told him that this would not work as she was working in our office and I was not there to meet him. She then said "Please come at the appointment time, 11:00. Precisely. We have built our day around that time." Matthew then started into a schoolboy like rant such as "What is I am early? What if I am late? One minute late? Five minutes late?" When he arrived, I told Matthew that we did not have time nor inclination to play these games on the telephone. With offices in the home, we are busy during the day and "do not need to waste time on word games or egos." Matthew then began a rambling monologue about karma, energy and cats and dogs. We advised him that we would not be using his services. As this was electrical work and Matthew is not licensed, this was probably a good thing in the end. He wasted out time. We now have a very professional, polite and licensed contractor. read more

My regular handyman was out of town so I needed someone in a pinch. I wasn't expecting to find anyone on such short notice, however, not only did Matthew respond in less than an hour, but was able to fit me into his busy schedule the next day (when other handymen i'd called were backed up about 2 weeks). He's experienced, professional, did what he said he would do, on time, no dragging out the cost, and did it well. I needed him to reinstall some baseboards that had been removed due to some flooding, but he also ended up installing window shades (beautifully!) and helped me trouble shoot another item related to my solar tubes while he was there to maximum the time.
