I've taken the course twice thanks to Veritas and their no hassle attitude for taking the course again for any reason within 1 calendar year. I took the course both times with Mark Alan Robinson. Initially I was steadfast with my engineering "must-solve" mentality and didn't get out of the course as much as I potentially could have 1st time around. The second time was completely different, I took to Marks "unorthodox" approach to viewing problems and solutions to not only make the GMAT more fun, but also taught me the values that CEO's carry with them at all times, but most interestingly, these values were simple enough for a 6 year old to understand. He is very knowledgeable and is very easily accessible outside of class, especially for such a busy individual. His examples usually revolve around people or instances and these tend to stick a lot better than conventional teaching methods (for me personally at least). I highly recommend anybody looking for help with the GMAT to look out for his class. The only thing I'd say is you need to patient and buy into his methods, they may frustrate you initially, but in the longer run, are very valuable information and practices. read more

A little background of where I was coming from before I met Mark: A year prior, I had gone through numerous classes (in-class, online), drained hours of studying, and learned other people's methods, giving me a good grasp of concepts however, I was plateauing, specifically in verbal. ( V35, V36, V34, V30, V35....) My math has always been strong (47-49) but something subtle behind the way I was approaching verbal was setting me back. Mark taught me how to look at verbal like math by "decoding the matrix" and after taking 10 hours with him, I suddenly clicked. I feel that Mark's approach to teaching not only helped me look at the GMAT in a different light, but also helped by relating it to my everyday life, making it not as dull and monotonous to study. Mark is very energetic and very personable. He really dug in deep with my weaknesses and accessed how I approached the problems. Some things that he taught me are even applicable outside the GMAT. I took the Tuesday/Thursday Full Course with Mark Alan Robinson in July/August 2016. I took a lot away from this class, not just about conquering the GMAT but about life. Mark understands that everyone learns slightly different, therefore he presents information in several different ways. He has found ways to show quantitative students how to succeed on the verbal section and vise versa. Mark was also very engaging and made me look forward to going to class. He stayed after class whenever necessary to assist with any additional questions, was very approachable, and sent multiple emails to the class asking how we were doing with studying and test taking. It really made me feel that he genuinely cared and wanted me to succeed. Also, his easy personality and openness created a very healthy and interactive classroom environment. While going through each lesson book within the Veritas course, Mark also provides a great amount of supplemental information and tips that he has attained over the years of teaching and tutoring. I took the GMAT three times, and this last piece is what I attribute my 100 point score increase to. Simply put, I couldn't have asked for a better teacher. This format is delivered online but the instructor is casted to the students with a web cam and and interact with the students in real time. _______ I registered for the Monday/Wednesday live online class with Chris Kane over the phone with Farrah. She was very helpful and went over several details of the course and what I was getting when I signed up. Additionally, she provided me with a great example of how the live online course format worked in order to prepare me for the experience of using it for my course. After I registered and paid for the first of three payments, I got a box from Veritas in the mail that included 12 course books, an essential guide to some of the top MBA programs, and a dry erase packet and pen that mimics what you'll get on test day. You also get instant access to your online student portal after you register. To be honest, Veritas gives you so many resources that it's initially overwhelming. They do a great job of giving you first steps that helps you work through the student portal and the books systematically. This is mostly given to you in the first of the course books. With these learnings, it becomes very easy to use the online portal effectively. Chris was truly a wonderful instructor. I don't know how he does it but it really feels like he gets to know his students throughout the course. He gets really good at letting each of us know what we were probably thinking when we selected an incorrect answer. It's creepy but in a good way... although still creepy enough that we talked about it class. How does he know?! He was great at entertaining us through our lessons with stories about his past students and experiences as a GMAT instructors. Our incentive to do well during class was a $10 Amazon gift card. You'd think it was small enough not to matter but everyone in class is trying to get a 700+ GMAT score and get into B-school which means they're all incredibly competitive. Overall, Veritas Prep gave me the instruction and structure I was missing in my GMAT prep. The curriculum doesn't offer any shortcuts. It's meant to give you the tools you need to understand concepts and strategies at a deeper level. After two weeks of practicing post-class, I can see the difference in my thought process with practice problems. I highly recommend not only Veritas Prep but any course with Chris Kane! read more

Piling on to what others have stated, the Veritas material is great, and instructor Mark Alan Robinson makes this course 5-star worthy! I took the March-April 2016 Houston Full Course and had strong results. Mark keeps the course interesting and teaches strategies that enable success on the GMAT. In addition to the classroom sessions, there are a wealth of online materials available, including pre-recorded classroom lectures, problems, practice tests, etc. You can do the entire course in the online format, but Mark helps to lighten things up and keeps his students engaged. I had to miss a few classes while out of town on business, but I was able to stay on track by going through the online lectures. The online practice tests are very good and will greatly assist in preparation for the GMAT. Early in the course, Mark made the recommendation that we sign up to take the exam within a week or two of finishing the course. I did so hesitantly, thinking that I could reschedule up until only a few days before the exam. Of course, I was mistake, so by the time I got around to trying to reschedule, would have been out the whole GMAT fee. I reluctantly went to take the test, figuring that I would need to retake. But upon finishing the test, I was very relieved to have beaten my original target score of 700 (with plenty of room to spare!) Thanks Mark and Veritas! read more

I took the Monday/Wednesday course with Mark Alan Robinson in June/July 2016. I really enjoyed his class and moreover his teaching style. He found ways to dumb down the material, so it can be easily understood, processed and later applied to similar problems. I think the one item in particular that goes unnoticed and falls between the cracks, is his ability to teach in multiple ways. For instance, he draws pictures for visual learners. Additionally, he was very accessible above and beyond class time and typically responds to emails within a few hours. Besides his teaching style and being available, Mark genuinely wants to see you succeed. He's very honest and direct, not in an aggressive way, but in a manner that encourages you to accept the fact that you have some areas of weakness that simply needs improvement. Let's face it, you wouldn't be taking the course if you hadn't already accepted the fact that you do! All in all, I highly recommend him as an instructor. His teaching style, enthusiasm and passion for the material and your success definitely helps to bring out the best in you. read more

I took the in class prep with Mark for the GMAT. Mark is very influential in driving his students to succeed both on the GMAT and in life. Mark is quick to identify hurdles in students lives that will limit their success and helps them plan ways to overcome them to get to the next level. I really like Mark because he is 'to the point' and doesn't waste time, but also respects the growth process and the spiritual and family side of life. As a teacher Mark holds the classes attention very well and helps expand our understanding of how the GMAT tests our knowledge by linking the teachings to work-life examples. Marks use of language and buzz words really helps drive home the lessons to make sure you remember what you learn. I can still remember his catch-phrases and advice for the GMAT even after taking the test because of his presentation skills and connection with the students. My verbal jumped 7 points to break the 40 point barrier. I solely attribute this to Mark's teachings and explanation that pattern recognition and quantitative skills are extremely useful in the verbal section if you learn how to use them. When I began my study of the GMAT I assumed that self study would be sufficient and that there was no way I would need a prep course. After flat lining on my performance right off the bat I received the recommendation to take the in-person Veritas prep course from a very intelligent individual I know who, as it turned out, had taken the course previously. I signed up for the in person Sept-Oct 2017 course with Mark Robinson in Houston and without a doubt this was an unbelievably good decision. Mark imparted an incredible insight into how to approach the GMAT and it is a testament to his teaching skills that I feel that I have become a better thinker overall, not just a better GMAT test taker. I took the July-August 2016 Houston Full Course Veritas Prep Class taught by Mark Alan Robinson. I've got a few notes about Veritas Prep resources and then a review about Mark: Veritas Prep 1. Lots of Material that at first feels overwhelming if, like me, all you know about the GMAT is how to spell it. That being said, the structure of the course material is excellent, and the way it's broken down into pre-class skillbuilder work, lessons, and homework is great. 2. It is worth (if you have time) watching the videos for each lesson BEFORE class. You can watch them at 1.5x or 2x speed (I felt 2x was too fast, but YMMV). This helps get a feel for the lesson, as well as pay more attention to what the instructor says. It's not crucial, but it's worth doing. 3. The feedback from the Veritas Prep team via email is quick and effective. They try to answer within 24 hours. 4. The homework solutions are also well done, with additional videos submitted of ways to tackle various problems really helpful (there's more than one way to skin a cat, some are just more efficient than others). The homework not only shows you how to get to the actual answer, but gives some background on why the other answers are trap answers and why they are there. 5. The plethora of practice exams is way more than you need! There's no shortage and it even gives you feedback on pacing and timing. 6. The online homework format helps a lot in that it gets you familiar with going through questions on a computer. It's in your best interests to do this from the start; you wont have anything more than a marker and some laminated paper on the exam, so highlighting parts of a question are only going to set you up for a poor performance. 7. The "Think like the Testmaker" is useful for the higher-end problems and gets people into the mindset of "what are they really asking" and "why are you here". My one complaint with the Veritas Prep course is that they scheduled class Tuesdays and Thursdays. Ideally it would be Mondays and Thursdays as one day between lessons isn't sufficient. That being said, it's likely so they can squeeze another class Monday/Wednesdays and run 2 classes concurrently. This might allow more students to take the class BUT it has an adverse effect on effective class preparation. It also means Mark doesn't see his kids 4 nights a week... Mark Alan Robinson I feel like if Mark were a Yelp review on his own, he'd score 4 stars, with 80% giving 5 stars and 20% giving 1 star. He's in a difficult position in that he has the goal of getting people from all backgrounds singing from the same hymn-sheet in the space of 6 weeks. He has to reteach math to engineers like me who just want to write equations all day (it's math without doing math) and at the same time deal with folks who struggle to read and analyze long passages of text without falling asleep (I guess that also applies to me!). However (transition word!), if all I got in an instructor was a carbon copy of the online video I would have been disappointed. Mark throws his own teaching methods at each problem and tries to use different tools to tackle each area, be it comparing data sufficiency questions to 2 consultants or recipe making, or leveraging as much as we can from the answers to gauge what to look for in the question stem (Mark: What do you smell? Is it Oregano? Me: F**k Mark, I don't know, it's 9 PM and I'm tired). Classes ran from 7-10 PM, and most of us are all working professionals so to keep us engaged for that long was a tough job, at which I feel he succeeded. He would even stick around after class (on at least one occasion for several hours) talking through questions and general business school thoughts with students. He cares, he wants you to succeed, and he goes well beyond what's required. I've already written the GMAT once since finishing the course and scored a 660. 8 Weeks ago this would have felt amazing, but after this course I actually feel disappointed (having written 5 practice tests that ranged from 660-720). I would never have been close to achieving this without Mark and the Veritas Prep Course, and to be clear I, the engineer, bombed the Quant, NOT the verbal, so that's on me, not him. One that thing, it's worth signing up for test after 8 classes. Yes, it's $250, but by class 8 you should have all the info you need. I regret not doing it, as there's little pressure to succeed by this point (you still have 4 lessons to go) and it will help get the jitters out by the time you try it again a few weeks later. TL; DR: If you're serious and are willing to put the work in, do it. Don't waste this much $ for a half-assed job. Sign up with Mark Alan Robinson and leverage as much online resources through Veritas Prep as you can. Oh, and RTFQ. read more

I took Veritas Prep course in January - February 2013 in Houston, Texas and I have to admit that I was lucky to have Mark Alan Robinson as an instructor of this excellent program. Mark is a great and talented professor, approachable and helpful. The Veritas Prep course has comprehensive materials that teach how to think like a test-maker and also Mark shows how to think like a CEO. His method of deconstructing sophisticated GMAT questions into uncomplicated and simple exercises is highly valuable. To be fair each instructor approaches the class differently, but I can without hesitation say that the Veritas Prep Class I took (taught by Mark Alan Robinson) was worth every single penny that I invested. Not only did the instructor present the information in easy to digest pieces, but he brought tremendous enthusiasm and energy to the evening class. I got a tremendous amount out of the class and know that it has improved my scores by 150 points through the practice tests that are available. If the class that I took, Houston Full Course, is in any way indicative of the way other Veritas Prep classes go I would highly recommend it over any other test prep program out there. So let me first start by saying something very important and I think most people can agree with. Trying to take continuing education classes while working full time is extremely challenging. Let alone the GMAT, which requires intense focus and commitment. The Veritas class was unbelievable in terms of who they choose as instructors and their level of commitment they have for their students to succeed on the test. You can tell they have passion for educating and helping students get to the next level. Mark Robinson was my instructor and he was a blessing to come across. His energy and knowledge is one of a kind. Just when you think you've got a busy life, well think again. Just his presence gives you the jolt of energy you need to study for this exam. The Veritas method works. Mark Robinson was an exceptional teacher. After six years in retail sales, my math and verbal skills had languished. Conquering the GMAT seemed like an impossibility. Honestly, I was very intimidated by the material and the prospect of failure. Through the methodical Veritas approach, I gained more confidence with every class. Classes were fun and accessible even with my rough fundamentals. Not only do you get total access to a GMAT pro inside and outside of class (he's very good with responding to emails and random questions), but you also benefit from the inexhaustible online resources that walk you through every tough question. If you're reading this review right now, you might be in a similar spot to where I was in April 2015. After 6 years of working professionally, I finally decided to take the plunge and try to get into B-school. I was overwhelmed, anxious, and quite frankly, a little terrified. I researched many GMAT prep courses and felt like Veritas Prep was the best fit for me - and it definitely did not disappoint! The material was tough and it did require you hold yourself accountable by doing homework outside of class. But while we were in class, our instructor (Mark Robinson) was awesome! Mark has a way of keeping you engaged after a long day at work and the 6 weeks seemed to fly by. I saw continuous improvement in my score week over week and by the end of the class it was up ~150 points. I also did 6 hours of private tutoring with Mark, which were extremely effective. I'm proud to say that I was accepted into the Rice MBA Professional program (Class of 2017) and it starts next week. The overwhelmed, anxious, and terrified feeling is rearing its head again - but it seemed to pay off last time! read more

Veritas Prep is absolutely the way to go if you're looking for a study course that will provide you the most bang for your buck! If you're in the Houston area I would highly recommend taking the course with instructor Mark Robinson. This guy knows the GMAT inside and out and did an excellent job teaching the material. I was amazed at how well he taught the course and how he made difficult material become clearer and easier to understand. Although I have yet to take the live exam, I feel a lot more confident knowing that within the first 4 weeks of attending the course the score on my practice exams increased by 160 points from exam 1 to exam 3. In addition to providing all sorts of tips and tricks for problems on the GMAT, Mark also provided really good advice and several strategies to become an effective studier and test taker. Veritas Prep is definitely the way to go and if at all possible, taking a live study course with Mark Robinson will be well worth your investment. The guy knows his stuff.
