In March I ordered a Samsung smart watch over the phone, I paid whatever bogus charge I had to pay, received my watch 2 days later, set it up and I was getting the email and text notifications on my watch. I get an email from Verizon in April telling me I have to activate my watch within the 45 days from purchase or I will be billed the full amount of the watch, I thought that was what I did while on the phone ordering the watch because we were on the phone about 45 minutes. The watch was doing everything I wanted it to do so I figured it was activated. Then I got another email and decided to call, over 3 weeks and countless hours on the phone and texting and nobody could get the watch activated, they said to go to the Verizon store in Springfield PA, they could not help because she told me there was a pending order on my account and told me to call customer service again, I do, and they are not able to help me. I go back to the Verizon store, the employee and manager both agreed that once the watch was finally activated and I was not getting notifications when I get messages that there is now an issue with the watch, and I have to have it replaced. The customer service people on the phone and the texting customer service sucks. I was charged an activation fee which I am pretty sure I already paid when I ordered the watch. I have been a Verizon customer since the early 1990's with the same cell phone number, but now I am looking into other wireless and cable providers because of the bullshit I had to put up with for 3 weeks just to get stupid smart watch working. read more

I ordered a tablet online because it was not available at this store. I set it up with no problem, but there was one function I couldn't figure out. So I stopped in the store. First I was greeted by a young man who asked for my cell number and then told me to have a seat. There were not many customers there. So far, so good. But, I sat and I sat and I sat. There seemed to be plenty of salespeople walking around. But, nobody ever said someone would be with me shortly, or even looked at me. I felt like a fool. Finally, a young man who was sniffling loudly the entire time approached. I told him the issue and he insisted what I wanted couldn't be done. I said it could be and showed him how far I had gotten before I hit a wall. From what I showed him, he was able to set up what I wanted, but he never acknowledged that I was right. All in all, a totally unpleasant experience. I see there a lot of poor reviews here and I am sure the manager doesn't give a rats ass about any of them. But, I still needed to write it. Huge modern looking store from the outside. Inside you will find an awkward layout with no clear floor plan and a sterile design. The woman who worked with us was for mobile was okay and they even went to another store to get the phone we wanted because they were out of stock. I tried to get FIOS on this visit as well. The girl who spoke with us was nice but she couldn't come close to the deal I saw online. What is the point of having these people work there if they can't even give you a decent deal This makes me question what exactly Verizon is trying to do here. Do not let the gorgeous building and big, bright open space fool you. Take note of the number of relatively negative reviews that you see here. This establishment is a joke. I was looking to upgrade my phone, but wanted to make sure that I had explored all of my options fully before making any decision to ensure that I got the best deal on what I wanted. On Friday after work, I popped into the Verizon location near Reading Terminal because it was in my path. Spoke to an incredibly helpful gentleman named Jacob who ran through my options with me and provided a print out of what we'd discussed. I told him that I was settling up my options, but I was looking to make a decision by the end of the weekend and thanked him for the info. Ultimately, I found that it was cheapest for me to handle my upgrade directly through Verizon (as opposed to Apple or Best Buy-), and headed to the Verizon location on Walnut (Because I was out and about in the Rittenhouse part of the city-) armed with my information from Jacob. My friend and I figured that this location would have a larger selection of accessories. That is about all this location has going for it. We walked in and strolled up to the female employee who should've been checking people in. We walked up, greeted her, told her what we were looking to do, and asked if there was somewhere to sign in. She huffed, turned from her personal conversation with a male who was not in a work uniform, and flatted asked for my phone number. She didn't say "Someone'll be with you shortly", "Thanks, please browse while you wait-"... nothing along those lines to indicate that I was set- I had to verbally ask her if there was anything else she needed from me. She didn't even look up, but shook her head. Cool... So we browsed cases a bit and after not seeing anything to my liking, I searched Apple's site and found something that would fit my needs. I made plans to grab it after we left Verizon as the Apple store was down the block and just across the street. I wish I'd taken the time to look at the name tag of the employee who assisted me. He strolled over and greeted us with his Verizon handheld, ready to process my upgrade request. Unfortunately, when I broke down what Jacob and I had discussed less than 24 hours prior (and handed him the printed out info that Jacob had prepared for me-), he squinted at it and told me that Jacob was mistaken and that I could not in fact process the upgrade the way I was told. He said that what I wanted to do was only available via special promotion. I'd wanted to trade in my existing device. This guy even quoted me a different (and lesser) amount for my device trade in. When I asked why so much had changed in less than 24 hours, he quickly said that Jacob was clearly just misinformed and quickly rushed me toward the accessories to pick something out. (It's worth noting that I'd also actually called Verizon's 800 number earlier that day- I was told the same thing that Jacob told me... It's clear who was misinformed in this situation-) I thanked this guy for his time but told him that I wouldn't be going forward with anything today because what he was saying was so different than what I'd previously been told. He said okay, but then still tried to get me to buy a case for the phone assuming that whenever I upgraded, I'd still get the phone that I'd told him I wanted. His pushiness was a turn-off, so I again said no thanks- I'd just go to Apple. Smugly, he asks what kind of case it was and made a jab like "Oh well if it's only sold at Apple, there's a reason why we don't carry it here...". Huh? Get outta the way, guy. I'm not giving you money. As my friend and I turned to leave, he began quoting me what I'd have to pay that day for my phone and asked how I'd be paying for it. Again, I repeated that I would not be spending money in that store that day. He finally said okay, no problem and told us to have a nice day. Bizarre. Awkward. And a complete waste of time. I ended up back at the Verizon location that Jacob works at yesterday, but unfortunately he wasn't on the schedule for the day. Instead, I had the pleasure of working with Daniel who set me up the way I'd initially been told I could be. Moral of the story- save your time at the 1430 Walnut location. None of the things I needed were addressed, and now I've wasted my whole day on hold with customer service because, wouldn't you know it, something about the automated phone activation didn't go quite right, which was why I went to the store in the first place. Verizon gave me the chance to have them call me when they were ready to speak to me, and I accepted that call back option. When they called me, they put me straight back on hold. Avoid this store. And Verizon Wireless. I visited yesterday, to switch to Verizon Wireless from another carrier and to buy two new phones (Apple 11Pro and Samsung Galaxy 10). A week ago I'd been in, and gotten a quote from one of the employees, and I wanted to accept that quote and set things up. Turns out they wouldn't honor my quote... apparently the day before I got the quote things had changed, the quote had been wrong all along, and they really didn't care when I asked them to honor it. The employee did apologize, but apparently she wasn't able to convince store management to bend. I work in customer service, and we all know that it's much harder to obtain a new customer than to keep an existing one. They had a new customer ready to sign up, and they blew it. So if this is how they treat potential new customers, when they are trying to win business, imagine how you'll be treated as an existing customer when they already "have" you. No thanks. The service at this Verizon location is horrible I walk to the door the security guard is leaning on the door he finally decides to move he doesn't even open the door. Then I was greeted by an associate he took my number and said there's one person in front of me. After the other two associate finished with their customers they started having a conversation amongst themselves laughing and joking for about 10 minutes never calling other customers. Both associates looked at me multiple times not once saying how can I help you. A woman walks in and asked where are the iPhones and immediately get service after I was sitting there for 10 minutes. So I decided to get up and leave, not only because of the poor service but I'm also paying for a parking meter. read more

My mother, sister and I came in today and had a very pleasant experience. Malik helped us and tended to all our needs plus more. He reassured that we got the right devices and plans that best suited our family. He even set up the cases and transferred the data from the old phones to the new ones to ensure everything for correctly. We have 8 Verizon cell phones on our account. Went to the store at 15th and Walnut. A sales lady was assigned to us who was wearing a parka and explaining that it was too uncomfortable being in this Verizon store without it. I wanted to purchase a new cell phone. She asked for my photo id which I provided. She said that she could not sell me a phone because my name was not on the account. Faced with this asininity, we had to leave and order it online. The customer service here is horrible. Even if you make an appointment you could end up waiting 30 mins or more. If they are that busy on a Wed morning at 10 am on a regular basis they should hire more help. Why have a guy at the front to check people in if he doesn't even give a realistic wait time. I have to say this is one of the worst retail experiences out there. The store is loud and there are two separate sound systems so you can't enjoy the music from either until one of the songs end. But worse is the 'system' that they use for dealing with customers. You have to sign in and then one of the drones with the keypad will find you when your turn is up. That means that if you're not on their list, the drones won't even make eye contact with you. So to simply purchase a too expensive charger, it became a fairly complicated experience and was enough to make me never want a Verizon phone. read more

I was here earlier this month to replace my IPhone after I dropped it in water. Initially, I thought I got excellent service. I had a sales guy (Jon) who seemed really fabulous and helpful. I decided to upgrade to an iPhone 7 and we talked at length about what my new bill would look like with the cost of the phone added in - an extra fee I was concerned about (dropping my phone in water obviously wasn't something I budgeted for). I thought I was all squared away and understood all the charges. But, I was in a hurry and stressed out, as I had left my young niece at home (who I was babysitting) with my younger sister, so I wanted to get my new phone activated and set up so I could be reachable and get home as quickly as possible. I ran into a number of issues with getting my iCloud back up to work on my new phone and the sales guy helped me troubleshoot for a long time. I only ever talked about my need for a phone -- no other devices. Jon recommended a new plan for me to switch to that would actually give me a bit more data for a similar price as I was paying previously on my old plan. It was presented as your data will cost X and your line access fee is $30 for a total of Y which is what you were paying before... but now you get more data. So of course I was like sure, let's do that. Towards the end of my visit, it was presented to me that I had 2 options to add to my plan at no extra cost - a bluetooth system for a car or a Jetpack (basically like a hotspot). I was not firing on all cylinders at this point, so I should have asked more clarifying questions about whether there was truly no extra costs, but at this point, I really felt like this guy was genuine and had my back -- and it was presented so last-minute--- as an afterthought almost-- that I really thought it was just this cool "add in" that I was eligible for for free. I didn't realize he was just trying to up-sell for an extra device I didn't need. Fast forward a couple weeks and I get my bill and all of a sudden there's all these extra charges for this 2nd device that I thought was just being "thrown in for free." Turns out, there was a $40 data activation fee, and a $30 one-time fee for the device. I'm not sure if these were supposed to be waived as part of this deal that was presented to me, but they both showed up on my bill - a total and complete surprise to to me. In addition, I found out the line access fee for a smartphone is $20 a month.... not $30 a month. So the initial price quoted to me "Your new plan will cost this" - was assuming he could hook me for this 2nd device he hadn't even presented to me yet! I figured this out during the course of a very long, frustrating conversation with the "solutions manager" named Lucas at the store. I recapped the entire experience and said it seemed like I was intentionally misled to get something added to my monthly bill that I did not want or need as a "promotion" and that it was a very shady way to present pricing-- and that I felt especially preyed upon being there late, distracted/stressed out and in a rush to get it taken care of as quickly as I could so I could get home to my niece (all of which I remember saying to the sales guy in the moment --- and also of course that I hadn't budgeted to be paying for a new phone and I was trying to keep my expenses down). "Solutions Manager" basically admitted that if I entered the store paying $70 a month on my bill for my plan, they would try to get me leaving the store paying the same/higher amount by upselling me, but perhaps it hadn't been presented in the clearest way, but how could I have been lied to when it says right here on the Price Sheet that the access fee for a Smart Phone was $20 a month? Shame on me for listening to the Sales Associate's shpeal (he seemed like he knew his stuff!) instead of reading this sheet in detail. Long story short-- I returned the device, and he was able to get everything credited to my bill-- except of course I was charged a mandatory $35 "re-stock fee" (that he "can't do anything about"). I also had to listen to him insist that everyone at his store acts with integrity, and that he stood by all of his associates, and that I was totally out of line to call this whole process shady. It would just be nice to deal with a vendor that isn't always out to screw you behind your back. My initial thought when I received a bill higher than expected was "Oh okay, this is higher because I'm paying for a new phone now." But no - that charge doesn't kick in til next bill - instead it was higher for a new feature/device I never requested and tried to get snuck in without my noticing. Not cool, Jon. Came to the store and they told me they've never sold preowned phones. Just went in to get w case for my s7 edge. Guy says that since the s8 came out they no longer have cases for the s7. Had glass damage to my IPhone and was told I could either spend $200 through my insurance or "upgrade" my current phone. They told me I would end up spending $300 if I went to the Apple Store down the street. I spent $120 at Apple, got my damaged phone replaced with a brand new one, and received excellent customer service. I wish Apple could be a provider, as Verizon only wants to squeeze every dollar out of you. read more

However, while attending a class on my tablet, I discovered Nathan, a new-to-Philadelphia staff member who spent one hours answering all of my questions and walking me through our account. Customer service at this store is atrocious!!! What a contrast from the last time we had visited this store. The store was not busy at all, no customers in site, and yet it took almost an hour to be helped. When we were finally helped, no attempt was made to resolve the problem at all. Instead, we were given information on how we could pay more money for another 2 years for a new phone (after already paying thousands upon thousands of dollars between both our wireless and home Verizon plans). Associates were standing around, typing away on their cell phones. While waiting to eventually talk to a manager, after the issue that brought us to the store was not resolved, a Verizon employee named Diamond proceeded to approach us. My husband voiced his concerns. Diamond started talking and talking, did not use basic customer service and listen. She eventually insulted my husband by making accusations, talking over my husband, which resulted in my husband eventually leaving the store, due to Diamond's unrelenting rudeness, and her repeating herself over and over and over again. What horrible customer service.! We are business owners, and pride ourselves in providing great customer service to our clients. Our phone is a necessary tool for us in our business. We were not treated with any kind of respect or understanding of our issue in our dealings with this associate. I eventually did speak to a manager, who did try to help resolve the issue for a few minutes, but with no success. It was suggested that we go to the Apple store to get some assistance. This was an overall horrible experience, and we still did not get our problem resolved. read more

The welcome to the store was a bit over the top...with two people simultaneously opening both of the doors. I mean, whoa. Don't come here if you want to replace a broken phone. I told the guy my phone was broken and he immediately tried to sell me the upgrade, which would cost me $400.00! He didn't look at my account to know that I have insurance. He also didn't do a good job explaining my options. I'm a little phone illiterate. (I could care less which company comes out with a new model and heck if I know what the different symbols and numbers mean.) THEN turns out that if you have insurance you can't even use it in the store, you have to go through a claims process. So he just handed me a card with the contact information for the insurance and I walked out. Needless to say that the phone service took forever and kept saying "to do this faster go online" so I said 'f***k it I'll just use the website on the card." Well the website wasn't working! So then I had to call back that recorded phone line to listen to the website they kept repeating. That worked. But I hate dealing with impersonal services like websites and recorded messages. Although the staff who helped me at the Verizon store wasn't much better. Granted the company keeps trying to outsource jobs and these people don't make much, so I don't blame them. read more

My experience at the downtown Philly Verizon store was the best experience I have ever had. It was solely due to an individual employee named Luis. Luis was courteous, diligent, and respectful. I am traveling in Philadelphia from Minneapolis and my phone had a hardware issue rendering it useless. Luis was able to quickly assist me in making an insurance claim and having a replacement phone overnighted to my home. He humbly assisted with deactivating my find my iphone and did so with a smile on his face. Additionally, my flight home was 2 hours from that time and I was unable to hail an uber without a phone but Luis had a solution. He hailed an uber from his own phone to get me to the airport. I have never seen such dedication to customer service and satisfaction. Luis's energy is contagious and my experience working with him was unparalleled. He is the type of individual that would make a tremendous leader. The way he conducted himself is a model of what outstanding, personable, and caring service can be. Kudos to Luis and I want to thank you for greatly exceeding all expectations. Give this man a raise and put him in a leadership role. He will do great things for this company. i went here a few days ago to finally upgrade from my iphone 4s from 2011. this was a BFD for me. as i walked in no one was there to greet or ask what it was that i needed. i found an employee who was just staring at her tablet and not doing ANYTHING work related. i told her i wanted to buy a new phone and she asked me if i had signed in. ummm...no!!! do i read minds? she signs me in. i asked her if i would be called over a loudspeaker or texted when it was my turn. nope. she told me she wrote "girl in white hat" on the sign-in page and that someone would come to me. 45 minutes later...nothing. the place wasn't crowded. BY CHANCE an employee came up to me and asked if i was the woman who needed a charger. NO! i need a phone, fool! had that employee not approached me for something totally unrelated i would have had to ask someone again. while i was sitting there i swore i heard one of the male employees mumble "white hat?"...but who knows. PASSED RIGHT BY! the guy who finally helped me was really fast and efficient, although he was wearing a JETS jersey and i'm kind of surprised that is allowed in the city of brotherly fug(ly). my advice to this new store that prides itself on technology and state of the art shit...get a better system in place for customer service. you have everything at your disposal. get a robot who comes around with a reach-around for customers who are up to bat! ps: the iphone 6s plus is amazing...not too big like my sister claims. recommend! read more

Went in to get a new phone for the first time in 4 years. I have been a Verizon customer for 14 years. Every time I got a new phone (within two different states mind you) they would update my phone for me in store and let me know all promotions and any add-on phone accessories available. The guy I dealt with at this store was just not happy to be at work. Apparently at this store, not only do they not update your phone for you, they wouldn't even take the phone out of the box so I can see a case for the phone. In addition, I have no idea if I have any coverage on this phone. After 4.5 hours and just dealing with an Apple customer service through chat rather than Verizon again, I was able to finally update my phone. If there are any other store options around you, I recommend going there. read more

Friendly enough until I had an issue and then i find out the sales people misled me on the Galaxy Note 7 switch. When i spoke with manager he basically called me a liar and told me that his staff would never have told me what they did. Extremely condescending, unhelpful, misinforming and uncaring. Be careful what the sales people tell you. They don't care if it is true or not. They just want the sale. I would go to another Verizon store and avoid this one. read more

Terrible customer service. The manager at this location (self identified as of 2/27/2017) has no common sense or customer service skills. Long story short - phone and wallet got stolen. Tried to pick up a phone I paid for online - had numerous sources of ID including current temporary drivers license, expired license with same license number, passport expired last month, original birth certificate, photo employee ID. Would not budge and was extremely rude. Apparently Verizon on Walnut Street is now Homeland Security. Also would not cancel the order so made ordering a phone that could be sent directly to my home nearly impossible. Interestingly, I left this store and went to my bank - Wells Fargo - with the same sources of ID and was able to get my temporary debit card (and access to my accounts) because that manager was kind and had more than 2 brain cells. Do not do business with Verizon. Terrible customer services - lower than 1 on a scale of 1 to 10. My Verizon landline with Verizon has been inoperable for many months as a result of an error by Version. Verizon refuses to admit their error and to credit my account for their error. I came here asking for a favor: I needed a quick charge of my phone. The little shit had the temerity to tell me they had no available chargers in the store. This is a phone store and he wanted me to believe they had no phone chargers. Instead, he goes on to try and sell me a charger. I was shocked because I've never had such a discourteous experience in a Verizon store. Now of course the store is under no obligation to let me use their charger. I was very very disappointed with the level of service I received this weekend at this location. I was greeted by the general manager at the front door to sign in and was added to the list. He said he had two people to take care of me. As I am waiting, I decide to look around the stir as I'm deciding to create a plan and by a new phone from my parents existing plan. During this time I am intently watched by the security personnel. There is a certain level of innate uneasiness when your a customer for over 5 years with a company but feel uncomfortable going into their business because you will be profiled. I continue to wait and then decide to leave as no one has come to assist me and I had a meeting to attend. While I am heading out the door, a rep runs over to assist me. From here, it continues to go downhill as the rep is unable to sufficiently help me as it turns out I know more about their plans and competitors plans than the rep did. This event solidified a move away from Verizon and to another carrier. read more
