In that time period the cost of monthly service has almost doubled although I actually reduced the actual list of products installed. I was forced into the new generation of equipment which is not as sophisticated or reliable as the former gear and has a dumbed down interface. They have My Verizon and although the old version was not reliable the new one doesn't work either. SCAMMED by Fios Auto Pay. I was recently lured into signing up for auto pay to save $10 per month and $120 per year. The same bank account I used for 11 years to pay FIOS bills 2 weeks early was rejected by THEIR Auto Pay and I was penalized THIRTY DOLLARS for their returned payment screwup. The gift card offer is a scam. I got service June 21st. Saw in my vz fios account that my giftcard offers would be available on August 25th. Bill is due 15th of every month. My auto pay happened on August 11th. Today I was told that I have to pay my upcoming bill due on Sept 15th just to get access to my gift cards. Folks verizon is scamming people. When setting up i was told my new place had the ONT to do a self-install. This was not the case, and once i found this outis was extremely difficult to contact customer support to schedule an installation. An hour into a hold estimated at 14 minutes, where the hold music cuts out like Im about to get a person every 30 seconds, and I am losing my mind. Verizon Fios uses horrible deceptive sales practices then locks you into a 2 year contract. I called them after my agreement ended and my bill went up. The sales guy names Sean talked me into faster internet and a new TV package. He promised all the same channels but one all for $25 less per month. I didn't get the email with the details until 48 hours after I agreed. Then I found that we lost over 100 channels and the bill was only $8 less than before. When I called to complain and cancel the changes I was informed that the 24 hour grace period expired and I was under a new 2 year contract! To get back to what I had before all this it would cost another $20 per month. So, by calling Verizon I got a much lesser TV package for about the same as I was paying before and a 2 year contract. I am completely frustrated with FIOS Cable TV service. I do not have any FIOS routers, set-top boxes or DVRs in my house. I rent their cable card for my TiVO. Until a month or so ago, my bill for cable, phone, and Internet was $165, recently it has gone to $182 with no change in service and NO notice of the increase. I reviewed the channels that I am getting. We do not watch well over 80% of them. I thought I could choose the ones I watch and save some money. No way! My only choice to lower my bill back into the $166 range was to get their lowest tier. In this I was asked to pick 5 channels (none premium) and that, based on that choice, I would get 125 channels of cable service. I could NOT learn what those channels would be until I started the service! I could change those five channels every billing cycle but again I could not learn which 125 channels would be provided until I activated and watched the service. Furthermore, I could not start the service until I went to NJ and picked up a set-top box from them and activated it. I have two weeks to do this task. I told them I did not want a box. They said it was free. I said I did not care, I did not want it. They said you have to install it to get the new service. I could unplug it afterward and keep it and they would not charge me $10 a month for it. Alternatively, I could drive back to Jersey to give it back to them. They said I was going to get 300mbps Internet where I currently have 150; however, to get this speed I need to use their free router. I told them I have a highly capable commercial router and that their router would not work for my needs. They did not care. So I will have a "free" router and set-top box that I will not use. I have been stewing about this all afternoon and decided to vent here. Depending on what service we get, we may become a chord cutter relative to cable TV. I have the full house gig plan. My issues: 1) The external cable was put in years ago. It is outdated and Verizon will not upgrade it. No matter what new equipment they offer, an outdated cable equals limited speed. 2) They only guarantee wired speed, but really thats not exactly true. They focus on router speed, but they test the router with a NY server while using a VA server for the actual internet, which provides a lower speed ... The WIFI connection is significantly lower (400 on iPad/iPhone, @ 90 on wired & smart tv) 3) To add insult to injury, the speed drops every month. Tried multiple times to login my online account in those 90 minutes and can't get in they are saying to contact them via phone!!! I know when my bill is due they will hit me with a late fee!!! My internet, home phone, and cable have been out for over a week. The same can be said for my neighbors. It 6 hours of my time and three calls to Verizon to get them to send a tech out. After rescheduling several of the appointments I had, it took a week for them to send a tech to my house - who didn't cover his nose with his mask. The technician told us that it was a simple fix, but they would have to send over a different team in the morning. They now have blown us off for two days following the first technician and absorbed more of my time waiting and talking to customer service. My debit card expired and I got a new one but didn't update Verizon. I called to have my services turned back on and was connected with Rozenna, who was a bit rude but was moving along. Midway through the call I expressed interest in having her supervisor call me back and shortly after she said "hold on one moment" and disconnected the call, forcing me to start from the beginning and ensuring I missed a very important meeting that I did notify her about. I called back immediately and went through the phone prompts and was (un)luckily connected to Rozenna again, who lied and said that the current call was her first of the day even though she had information about me she would have only received during the first call. I was able to speak to a supervisor after who said that she was not Rozenna's supervisor (I don't understand why she was calling me then if she had no information about Rozenna) and that there was nothing she could do about the first call because there was no log of anyone accessing my account previously, which is either incorrect or means Rozenna wasn't doing what she said she was. Horrible in honoring their promotions. My husband and I live in Philly and had changed to Verizon fios for internet service. At the time there was a promotion for $200 gift card if we signed up with them as a first time customer. Skipping ahead to the present, we're moving back to Jersey and unfortunately they don't have service in the area where we are moving to. The customer service representative stated that we had to return the $200 giftcard because we were with them for less than 6 months. What kind of joke is that? It's not like we're intentionally going with a different internet company, Verizon doesn't service in the area we will be going to. I wish I could give them 0 stars. I have been a customer with them for about a decade. When I consolidated households with a friend we used their Verizon account and closed my account. I didn't get a bill for approximately two months and when it was paid the placed that account on my credit as a paid collection. Zero notice that this was going on my credit. When I called them to have them remove it. They told me that they sent an email and a letter about it. They never reported anything to my credit, not even the monthly bills. So why report this. Good news and bad news. I called customer service to find a way to lower our bill. Sure enough, the rep had a way. The good news was that we got faster speeds and new equipment (not that we needed them). The bad news was that they cut our channels drastically. We had been on what they called a "classic" package which offered a vast array of channels. Now we have basic channels plus 5 electives with our reduced price plan. My main issue was that the rep never said a thing about all the channels we would be losing. Had I known, I'd never have done it. It has been a major disappointment. Cancelling two days into my new billing cycle because Fios is not offered at a home I just purchased, they flat out refuse to make any exception to the Terms & Conditions, and advised me that they will be billing me for an entire month of services (that I'm not getting). We rported it and they sent a boxe that we had to replace ourselves and then after that didn't work they finally sent a guy who came out and replaced the boxes in the house 3 times and they still didn't work. Their internet keeps dropping out and I have to enter password multiple times before it works. A while ago they had to send a tech out and he replaced all equipment it took 4 hours. When you sign up and are offered deals beaware of the sales techniques used. I signed up as my building just got service with them and was told about the great first time insensitives. As I told them I didn't care about hulu+, espn, or Disney but I accept it because it comes with signing up. What was more of an insentive was the "Verizon gift card". Which I now found out was not given. There is a stipulation the sales associate will not tell you. It all depends on the service you get and the discounts recieved. I wasn't told this and I was pushed to agree so we could move on and catch the install date. My service was to be installed at a rate of $99 and the fee was cut to 50% which I was great full for, but the guy came late and never installed a thing. Had to set up another appointment and this was the fault of the people who installed the service in the building originally. My installation was then free, which is ok but a day was lost at someone sitting home waiting. Worth more than $99 on a weekday. I was told I can apply for help with my service from the federal government because I receive ssi, so I went and signed up. The federal government will pay a certain amount towards the bill, but to be clear Verizon is still being paid the full amount agreed on. Its just I pay some and the government pays some. Because of this I was left out of the gift card promotion supposedly. Sales reps are supposed to be trained to tell you everything and be clear of the options and choices you have for signing up, but they will sell you a dream you get the sale and just hope you don't care enough to do anything. I currently have a report out against my sales rep for false advertising and I can't get any information on how that is going because it's dealt with "in house". Bull!. Verizon is the oldest company out and has to be expected to carry themselves at a higher standard than others. The internet itself is great, the issue is the customer service and billing issues. I signed up for the $79.99 package five months ago and the first bill was $124.99. I've spent countless hours online and on phone calls over the last five months and the billing issues have not been fixed. First Quarter 2024. I was only receiving limited download bandwidth and so I called Verizon to see if it was ISP related. Obviously they couldn't connect to the router because I replaced my Verizon paid for router with a TP-Link. She asked me if I could hook it up so they could troubleshoot, which I did. She went on to say that it's an old router. Why I like a new one at no cost. I wanted to clarify once again if it was free. She replied it was. I received a new router in the mail but it was the same Quantum router as the old one. So, I threw the old router out. 3-4 months later I get an extra $100 charge on my bill for the new router. So I called cust service and explained to them that I was told not once bu t twice that the router would be free and that I should't have been charged. They already debited my acct for the fees but after they were in the process of refunding my acct. I'm abt to chk on the refund. Communication breakdown again. read more

When Verizon Fios works, it works fine. Not great, just fine. The speeds are nowhere near what they promise and are usually between 25-50% of what's advertised. Yes, that's bad. What's worse is their customer service! Heaven forbid you ever need to speak to a representative, you'll be waiting well over an hour to get a human if you don't give up first. The last time I called in, I was informed that the queue was between 22 and 38 minutes. I ended up waiting for over 90 minutes and still nothing. Once my promotional year's up, I'm switching. This has been the worst company that I have had to use. When I first opened my account it was $60 a month . But after a couple of months they started adding things onto my account . Apparently there was some sort of glitch in the system on my account to where they had to manually enter any credits for my home phone/ internet account. This lasted for six months, and each month I had to call in . When I moved I was told my bill would be the same, it was not . My bill was raised by $38 . So I started paying $98 a month. My internet was constantly cutting out , I've had two routers replaced because they believed that was the issue . So I decided to close out my account in August of 2021. I was told by the representative that I had to wait one to two billing cycles before I could pay the final bill. Mind you, she had to go through my account and found I was over charged by $150. I finally get the final bill late October and try to pay. The system would not allow me to pay online or over the phone . And it seemed as though everytime I got hold of a rep ,the call dropped or they would transfer me and I had to keep re-explaining everything . Finally , I'm able to login( it's January at this point) and I make a payment. And I'm still being bombarded with phonecalls emails and text stating that I need to pay my balance off. In short don't use verizon. I have spent hours on the phone just to get to this point. Out of the three years I've had this service , I only had 3-5 good reps out of all I've spoken too. read more

Worst company ever! I have been having issues with Wi-Fi for a month. I call in once a week to get it fixed. First you have to wait to get through the automated crap. Then you finally get someone who knows nothing. They are literally reading off a script in the computer and doing what it says. They don't listen to the customer at all. I was given a free year of disney plus as part of a covid promotion, which at the time, I thought was very generous. However, after the year ended and I promptly cancelled the subscription, there was some glitch in the system that made it appear as if I have no subscription yet was continually charged for one. Every month since, I have spoken to a customer service agent, each of whom assured it was now fully cancelled, and the next month I always get charged for it again. Today has been my third time cancelling this subscription, and was told that I will only get confirmation of cancellation in two weeks. It is truly a shame that I have to spend hours each month trying to get a simple cancellation done. And it is also a shame that disney plus has no authority to cancel a third party subscription like this - you would think they could simply cancel the account with them. In addition, the chat feature is the most inefficient way to get anything done. The representative will respond after many minutes per question, have very limited access to your account, and most likely, will not be able to solve your issues. I recommend speaking to an agent over the phone, but even this can get tedious with all the automated questions they have you answer. read more
