Pancakes are 10 out of 10. French toast was good. Potato and egg taco great! Hashbrowns were good, but wished they were a bit more crispy. Only cause I can't select 0 stars, I usually don't do the whole upset complain review but here we go. However, my wife and I came all the way from San Antonio to visit her family. We showed up at about 10:05 am with everyone. We asked about getting two tables together as we were a total of 6. Several tables were available and parties if 2 were being sat and we kept getting passed. They never followed up with us until my wife asked again. By this time owner was sitting around b***sh*tting with his friend and realized we had been waiting. We then realized there were two tables available that could have easily be put together for us. However, seems as if the waitresses are terrified of taking initiative. Without maybe the owners permission. Anyway so after the owner stood up and walked into the pay area he loudly said to the people that had just walked into that there were 3 tables available. My step daughter said would have been nice for us to get a table. All In all will never come here especially after the owner never apologized. Not sure who this Mark P guy is but apparently as an owner very terrible. read more

A local staple and a family favorite. No long wait. My sister brings my niece here a lot because she ordered like a boss. The servers are friendly and professional. The place is small and quaint with a diner vibe. Your table already has condiments and right away a bowl of salsa is brought out to enjoy with your meal. The salsa was so good. They have several TVs with local advertisements but also displaying menu items. There is a waffle burger that looked pretty delicious. Apparently, fideo is for breakfast. It came out hot and it was flavorful with carrots and lima beans. I'm an avocado toast snob so I was pleasantly surprised that a Tex-Mex place had some good avocado toast. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the added sprinkle of bagel seasoning elevated the flavor. Muy sabroso! The fruit was fresh and delicious as was the bacon. The migas were great. The omelet was simple yet hardy. The only bummer was the utensils were dirty and the plastic replacements were cheap. Took me a minute to cut the avo bread. Despite the cheap utensils the prices here are extremely reasonable and the food is good. A cup of coffee is $2.99. Hats off to the cooks! I never leave a review but felt the need to do so. Had family from out of town and decided to take them to this restaurant after commenting how good the food was at the restaurant. Called in advance for reservations and they said no reservations allowed first come first serve. We said okay and proceeded to head over anyway. As we get there my husband sees that there are two rows of two tables reserved and comments to the hostess, "I thought u couldn't reserve she says, we have it reserved for the owners family. We said okay and said we would like a table for 10 Well we waited mind u the hostess never said how long the wait was going to be and everytime people stood up from the tables for some reason or another they could not put the tables together. We waited for an hour and since it is such a small place had to wait outside in the heat with my elderly parents. We waited and waited nothing happened even while these two rows of tables where not being occupied because the owners family was not even there. We could have probably been seated, ate and left at the table that where not occupied and the family still would not have been there. read more

Toddle Inn, Waddle Out. I love, love, love Toddle Inn. When I visit my parents, this place is on the list of where we must go for breakfast. Brownsville restaurants are notorious for serving tacos in tortillas the size of your face! My normal go-to is the chorizo plate but on my most recent visit I got a bowl of menudo and three small barbacoa tacos. Oh sweet baby Jesus. That menudo was extraordinary. No one makes a bowl like a Brownsville restaurant. The barbacoa tacos were also delightfully greasy. When you're ready to pay, an assortment of Mexican candies are also available for sale, my favorite being the Glorias (because they're essentially wads of goat milk caramel). Perhaps the most amazing thing about Toddle Inn are the prices. $3.99-$4.99 is the usual range for a combo with a tortilla, egg and something, hash browns, and beans. The service? Great. They're happy to see you, and it's fun to practice my Spanish there. (I had asked my Mom how to say "A side of rice" and she promptly told the waitress "Un side de rice." Yay Tex-Mex.) read more

Toddle in and waddle out. I guess this one must be an acquired taste or something because I didn't find the food to be any better than any other restaurant in the area. In fact, I thought some of it was worse. I vaguely remember trying this restaurant a few years ago and was not terribly impressed, but my bf likes to eat breakfast out so I decided to try it again because of the excellent Yelp reviews. What a disappointment. Seriously, the food was nothing special. My bf said the beans tasted like they were from a can. (Don't ALL refried beans come from a can? LOL, they did back in Kansas). The flour tortillas were big, but again, nothing special. And the hash browns? Sure, they're just like mom makes . . . if you're mom's hash browns are completely saturated through and through with grease and aren't crispy at all. Quite frankly, my mom would be EMBARRASSED to try to pass something like that off as acceptable food. The best thing about the restaurant was the excellent service. The chatty, hard-working waitresses happily buzzed from table to table like a bunch of hummingbirds. They were truly awesome.
