They made promise after promise about how they would assist her and nothing. I finally brought her scooter down after their sob story of not having help. They promised repair by 2 and a call at 5 pm to pick up. They knew I lived 1 hour from Burlington and was staying in town. Five o clock came and went, I had called multiple times without anyone picking up and they never called. So.. still no scooter, no communication, and quite frankly a total disregard for the safety and wellbeing of their clients. Go to Keene Medical. Never look back.

They were extremely rude and called me untruthful when I have no reason to lie, I was going based off what I was told. They told me I was "changing my story" and that "Andy would never do that" when my story had not changed at all, I was communicating that it was unfair to have all my appointments cancelled when I was simply following orders. I have been waiting months for this care and to be treated like this is absolutely unacceptable. I have never been treated this badly by healthcare professionals before.

Because l was 15 minutes late due to another previous UVM appointment who had "double-booked" an earlier session that impacted me having to wait for that professional , this Dr. Stephen Merena deliberately delayed ( NOT answering his phone, computer or door) for another 15 minutes , so l was told politely by a receptionist that l had to make another appointment. So what you can expect ? You will be thwarted in your attempts to see Dr. Stephen Merena, who has little to no compassion either (1) for fellow professionals (who "double- book" emergency patients making their other patents wait) or (2) for his potential patients. I have excruciating foot pain and had filled out his on-line questionnaire . Now l have to start the process all over again. Is this a commentary on Dr. Stephen Merena or is it a criticism of UVM overworking their staff ? What a shame.

Honestly, I feel that Appletree Physical Therapy Practice in Burlington is top notch! The…read moretherapists are awesome! All of them are knowledgeable and have been practicing for a long time and work well as a group. I had a complicated shoulder repair ( second surgery, bicep, rotator cuff, 5 anchors etc). 7 weeks after surgery my shoulder froze up. I am a tennis player and I knew this was going to be a long recovery. I researched many therapy groups in the Burlington area and needed to find a good PT and I chose Appletree even though it was a half hour drive to get there. It was 100% worth it! I worked with Dan Curry for my rehab. and he was terrific. At our first meeting, he conducted an intensive intake and really listened to the history of my shoulder issues. He is a medical professional who listens and actually remembers what the problems are and took the surgeons' plan, and followed it yet he also added his own expertise which I found to be very helpful. He and the other therapists know their science and how to balance the passive and active techniqes and gradually introduce the strengthening. Up until my final vist, Dan's care and approach was excellent. All of the therapists there were so good and they have worked with each other for many years. It felt like I was part of their "family" every time I came in. There is a lot of humor. It is a very happy place! Dan's approach was caring and balanced nicely - He massaged the shoulder and used the ultrasound thingy for the first 10 minutes of each session. Then we did the exersizes, and he recorded my progress/ measurements for how high I could reach etc. Next, we did table exercizes and he did the manual stretching which can be painful. He would stretch me further each time, but he was able to "read" my face and knew how far to stretch. Lastly, each session, I had the Tens machine and ice /heat for 15 minutes. Appletree is very busy and from what I observed, they treat athletes and all age groups. I was so impressed with their treatment of the elderly patients and also the playfulness of their style with the younger generation. All of them were interactive with all of the patients and it is clear that they care about the patients and their recovery. They make doing PT fun and that is a pretty high compliment! I wanted to say goodbye for now, since I don't hope to be injured again anytime soon, but then again, having a reason to go back to see them all again wouldn't be bad. Honestly! I enjoyed every session. Each therapist that I interacted with with friendly, outgoing and caring. They are truly like a large family there and they welcome you in with open arms. She ran full force into the side of my knee. I immediately went numb from my knee to my ankle and my knee to my hip. After gentle movement to make sure nothing was broken, I could feel something wasn't right. I called Essex PT. I had never been seen as a patient there before so expected to be put on a wait list. They got me in very quickly. Emily assessed my knee, hips, mobility, strength, etc. She gave me some targeted stretches to do each day.
