Recently moved to Dunnellon and was in search for a good hair stylist. Thankfully, I found a GREAT one at Vernon Martin Salon - Jessica. Jessica is also fairly new to the area so I am so grateful to have found her. The Vernon Martin Salon takes walk-ins which was super convenient. I liked my hair cut so much that I went back the following week to have Jessica give my hair high lights. I LOVE MY HAIR AGAIN! I went in got a hair cut from Marissa, I told her I wanted shoulder length with longer in the front she said you want a elongated bob. I said OK well if you look that up that is exactly what I was explaining to her. well she kept snipping here and there and before long it was up to my chin. I called the next day a woman answered, and she told me they were closed, she was sorry and to be patient it will grow out. I asked that the owner call me. nothing!! I called on wed when they reopened. Veron started off defensive saying that clients always say it's the stylist fault, but he will call me back I sent him pictures to go along with my complaint. He texted me back stating that he would give me my next trim free, I said no thank you I want a full refund and beside it will be 6months before I can get a trim since it was now up to my chin. He tells me it was a miscommunication I said um no it was not she knew exactly what I wanted. so, he finally agreed that he would give me back my money $55.00 he asked, me when I will be in a told him sat morning at 10 (when he said they opened) they open at 9. So, I get there and walk up to the desk and say I am here for my refund, and he catches an attidute right off saying he waiting for me Thursday and Friday. I simply said I told you sat at 10? he said Well im not giving you back your tip, I said OK. he gets up walks to the back grabs the money and while walking from the back of the salon is in a loud voice say listen I am doing this but you dont tell me when you are coming in I tell you. I said I have a text. he said I dont wanna see your phone. He ands me the money and still is being rude I finally have enough and tell him to FUCK OFF I will not be spoke to like that. They cut my hair so short I cannot even put it in a pony tail. and he wants to get all sassy with me? In addition the place is full, so I guess he wanted to let his clients know he was bigman. But on a side note while the stylist was cutting my hair Veron was talking to the client in his chair all kinds of snarky comments about another one of his clients who was not there so keep that in mind if he is talking crap about people he will do it to you and if he is going to be rude to someone who one of his people just screwup their hair and doesnt give a shit is ths the type of person you want doing your hair. And yes I was swearing when I left. I work in CS and I was pissed that he didnt take my horrible hair cut seriously and then wanted to blame me for it. Been here twice. Went back to have my terrible nail polish repaired; certainly not because I liked the place. I should have known first visit when I overheard somebody complaining about a problem they had. I trusted what ever the problem it was unique to one particular staff member and wouldn't be repeated with me. Second time I was there, while I was the one complaining, somebody else called on the phone and had a meltdown about how unhappy they too were. I had a Groupon Coupon. Don't know if the other 2 ladies did. Mine was for a "spa manicure using Shellac polish, and regular pedicure". According to Groupon the value was $90, I paid $45. Later I saw on their website the same thing advertised for $55. Okay, I was still saving $10. But I got neither a "spa manicure", nor Shellac. The technician who worked on my nails, Jackie, didn't seem to know what made a manicure "SPA" (Spa = A rejuvenating and nurturing hand treatment that uses the healing touch and ingredients of nature to improve condition of nails, cuticles and hands. A special exfoliating paste and warm paraffin masque combine with massage techniques to smooth and soften, relax and renew. ) Got none of that. The owner has their own nail room with colors that are old, and poorly maintained. Real Ecky place. But those are the owners polishes. The technicians have to supply their own. And my technician didn't have any Shellac polish. So she used some kind of gel or lacquer. That polish started to peel off within 24 hours; and when it did my nails started breaking. Now things are worse than before I went here the first time. I called the owner and complained. He booked me for a return appointment and promised he would be there to ensure I got what I paid for. Still didn't happen. No Spa Treatment, No Shellac, No Owner. When I arrived for my correction...the owner was conveniently missing. Couldn't help me, couldn't help the unhappy customer on the phone. Went in for just an eyebrow wax and was helped pretty quickly. The first wax was burned and wouldn't work so I was moved to the back room Where there was a massage table that was all wet. They laid and new towel down on top of the wet spot and said to lay down. I should have left then and didn't. The girl was very sweet but I am not happy at all with the job she did. One of my eyebrows looks fine but the other one is missing about a centimeter of hair at the root and it shaped in a half circle now instead of its original shape. I know "eyebrows are not twins they're sisters" but one should not look fine and the other look like an upside down smiley face. I don't think I would ever go back and pay money to have something I have to correct every day with makeup pencils. read more

I'm just visiting friends here in Dunnellon (first time here) and they recommended Vernon's for my pedicure. Well, I am very pleased to say that this was the best pedicure I've ever gotten, and I consider quite a connoisseur. Kristyauna did a very thorough job including foot massage. To start it was great and affordable. Then in 6 months my price went up to ove 100 with no prior warning amd the stlist began began being rude to me amd missing spots of layers in my hair id have to go home and fix. Id keep directing her and at first she was ok then became rude. Then i heard the main stylest say if he here's someone say that about their hair he just fakrs a cut and says does it look better, asks the client this. I was dumb founded. Then he went off on how he didnt need such amd such clients. I was thete over a year and a half and he i guess just lost me. They arent the best they arent the worst they jist are and i guess after all that they dont need me either. read more

I went to this salon to get eyelash extensions with two of my friends. We heard about the company through Groupon and decided to call and make appointments. When we called to make our appointments the salon asked us not to purchase the coupon on Groupon, saying they would honor the deal themselves (essentially cheating Groupon out of money). When we arrived at the salon not only did they not have any eyelash extension glue, but the woman doing our eyelashes had her husband pick up cheap glue from cvs and drop it off at the salon. She applied our lashes and gave us basic instructions on how to take care of them. Even though we followed these instructions, all of our eyelash extensions fell off within 2 days. Not only did they all fall off, but when we were paying the salon did not honor the Groupon price that they had originally agreed to. They charged us an extremely large amount of money for cheap lashes and glue that we could have bought and applied ourselves for about $10. I was extremely disappointed with the service at this salon and days later when I called and requested to speak to a manager or owner I was told they would call me back. I left my name and number and have been waiting 2 weeks for a call back, and have even called to remind them multiple times. ABSOLUTE HORRIBLE SERVICE! Would never return to this salon and would absolutely never recommend to anyone. If i could give zero stars, I would!!! read more

Not too happy. I wanted to do something special for my daughter for her 13th birthday, so I agreed to allow her to get four fantasy colors in her hair. The stylist we saw on the first day said we had to make an appointment for a week out so she could "go buy the colors". We were in contact with her several times in that week, sending pics of the style and a list of colors my daughter wanted. Last Saturday was THE DAY. She was so excited. We get there. The stylist had ordered no colors. She made due with the colors she had there, putting them in before the cut. The coloring process took 3 hours. When that was finished, the rude owner took over, cutting my child's hair because he wanted the stylist we had talked to all week to do something else. All but one color was virtually invisible. Two of them didn't even show up. Our stylist, who is fresh out of school, obviously felt bad, and wanted to only charge us for the color that showed but the owner insisted we be charged for everything. I'm on a very fixed income so, at least for us, this was really big. Now my child's hair looks like crap and they want me to bring her back in next Saturday to put the colors in that they cut out. The only problem? It's only been four days and the one you could see is almost gone, so why waste another four hours? If you have money to give away for piss-poor results, go here. Otherwise, go to Walmart. read more
