The resort doesn't let outside massage people come to you, so the spa just handled it: Maria, a driver they trust, picked us up and dropped us off, about 30-60 min each way. Super easy to deal with, too - they mostly do everything over WhatsApp, and Gina (the owner) had it all sorted out for us. Before we started they had us fill out a quick little survey on what we wanted worked on, and they actually stuck to it during the massage. The place itself has this industrial-but-cozy, zen vibe going on - very chill. They've got a shower to rinse off before you start, and they even give you your own little scrub for it, which was a nice surprise. The therapists were seriously amazing, some of the best massages we've ever had, and they use a little sound bowl to signal when it's starting and ending, which felt like such a nice touch. We got the 2-hour couples massage, and after they brought out tea and a fruit tart - felt way more like a retreat day than a spa appointment. I emailed to make an appointment with Dr Martha Garcia. They didn't have anything open for 6 weeks. But they offered to put me on a cancellation list. Less than a week later I received an email offering an appointment the next morning. I arrived to my appointment and the receptionist was very friendly. I waited less than 5 minutes, and I was back with Dr Martha. She was so sweet and so pretty, that you immediately feel at ease. Then she did a full all over body cancer screen for me. It was the first time I felt like someone truly looked at my skin thoroughly. Usually my doctors do a quick glance. She used a tool that can detect abnormalities not seen with the naked eye. Afterwards we discussed the signs of any future melanoma growth, and of course prevention. Lastly I asked her advice for just vain skin care... she described in detail what I should consider and suggested product brands for here and even what I can obtain in the US. She was one of the nicest, most thorough, professional doctors I have ever met. And that's saying a lot, since I worked in the medical field for 14 years!! She was worth every penny!!! They had a sound bowl to mark the start and the end of the massage for a very gentle bookend for the treatment. It was truly one of the best massages my partner and I have had and we indulge in the treatments when we travel and even at home.
