I've put my trust in Dr. Shumantov's care, and I was not pleased. He is most of the time, out of the country, put cheap/temporary bridges inside my mouth which breaks, and falls out. He (Shumantov), doesn't seem to value me, as a patient, although I have to pay money from own pocket for treatment. Dr. Shumantov shows up late for my appointments, and I he never calls to check on the status of my oral health. So many of these so-called/alternative dentists, seem to big hustlers. So, would not recommend this particular dentist, on the account of my experience with him. We have be very careful when choosing doctors and dentists etc. Some I will have to say, are discriminatory, in the way they treat certain patients, of different ethnic groups. I will search for a more quality dentist, who cares about his patients. Alot of them give poor care, yet charge high fees. They don't accept most health insurance plans. Well, this is all I want to say. So, please take heed, and be careful. Thank you. We live in such a capitalistic and materialistic society, where we don't have care for fellow humans. Dr. Veselin Shumantov is a wonderful dentist. After a very unexpected and risky situation with an implant, he took me under his wing to remedy the problem right away. I am now on the path to complete healing and proper replacement thanks to him. YOU DO NOT NEED A ROOT CANAL!!! 6 months ago, my tooth crumbled and 2 dentists told me I needed a root canal & implant. It's not good to have metals permanently set in your body so I found Dr. Shumantov by searching for bio compatible implants. When I went to see him, he said I DIDN'T need a root canal at all and would be better off with a crown. I was THRILLED!!!!! A root canal is a really terrible procedure. Not to mention it has also been linked to cancer due to the chemicals used. Dr. Shumantov was super professional and finished the crown in 2 visits. He uses the latest tech and most of the process was painless. The crown also fit perfectly from Day 1!! Six months later, the crown still feels like any other tooth! (Crowns have a tendency to get infected, give you bad breath, and fall off after several months if not done properly). I can't recommend Dr. Shumantov enough! If anyone tells you that you need a root canal, go see him for a better opinion!! (Or to have it done with materials that aren't harmful / toxic). Thanks again Dr. Shumantov!!! I cannot say enough of how lucky I feel finding Dr.Shumantov. His professionalism as a cosmetic dentist and the top-notch quality work makes him truly unique. The multiple ceramic implants he put in started feeling as the natural teeth from the moment they were in. And they are beautiful! I attended Dr Shumantov for implants and can only praise his skill manner and all round professionalism. Unfortunately I had attended another dentist previously and had iuxtaendo implant fitted or I should say badly fitted. Dr Shumantov successfully removed this and I am absolutely delighted with the implants and bridge work he supplied. I want to commend him on his dedication, his commitment and his ability all of which far surpass any other dentist I have encountered in my 50+ years. I live in San Diego, CA. but have a New York Invisilign dentist, Dr. Daniel Noor, whom I think is the best. Dr. Noor assisted me in getting my bite corrected with Invisalign via long distance work in designing the appropriate models for the trays, and is one of the few dentist who are advanced enough to use lingual (back of teeth) attachements. He was able to create a space where a tooth was missing from birth to correct my bite. Now that my treatment is complete it was time to find an implant doctor. Due to having metal allergies, I needed to find a doctor who places Zirconia implants. Unfortunately there are only two such doctors in all of San Diego county. After receiving conflicting information from one of the Zirconia specialists here and an implant surgeon, I asked Dr Noor if knew an implant specialist who would be willing to look at a Pano x-ray to give his opinion. He referred me to Dr. Veselin Shumantov, stating that he was an expert in his field. My problem was that the root of an adjacent tooth next the space we provided was curved in such a way that it impeded the space where the implant was to be placed. The surgeon in San Diego who felt he could do the implant did tell me that it would be placed right up against the curved root. My intuition told me that was not a good idea even though he said it would be fine. After emailing Dr. Veselin he responded immediately advising me that there was not enough room for a full size implant and that I would risk having to have a root canal on the curved root if I proceeded with the implant. He may have saved me a lot of future pain and expense. Dr. Veselin with no financial incentive, was willing to to assist me with my treatment review just out of the love for his profession and willingness to serve the people. I would highly recommend anyone in the Tri-state area considering an implant to make an appointment with Dr. Veselin as their first stop. After reading the other reviews, I see finding highly skilled Zirconia implant doctors in your area is just as sparse as San Diego. So why not see the most experienced and highly recommended first. You should be so lucky to have such a doctor in your area. He is obviously someone who cares more about the patient than the dollar. I have done extensive research on implants, and even if I were not allergic to metals, I would still go with Zirconia. Studies I have researched have shown that over many years titanium corrodes and leaches into your biological system, and there is a belief that corrosion if titanium implants may be the reason for implant failures. I have been a patient of Dr. Shumantov for several years. I had a complicated case requiring bone grafting, old titanium implants removal and placing new multiple zirconium implants. Before my initial visit to Dr. Shumantov I had spoken to several top dentist surgeons in New York and New Jersey area. First of all, almost none of them had experience and knowledge in the area of holistic dentistry. For that reason they were extremely hesitant working with zirconium implants. Nevertheless, they were the top paid doctors! From what I know,(and I researched this topic extensively) zirconium implants require much higher precision and skill level than titanium implants. Dr. Shumantov was even able to fix the crown that the doctor who initially put it refused to fix, because he was not sure if he could do it without breaking it! Dr. Shumantov was able to do it in no time. At this point Dr. Shumantov already placed multiple zirconium implants for me and the result is excellent. He works with titanium implants as well. Dr. Shumantov is very patient and detail oriented. He is one of the rare dentists that stands behind his work. If you are looking for a dentist that has it all, don't look anywhere else. I sought out Dr. Shumantov's professional opinion after having some concerns that the health issues I had been compiling for the last six years were linked to my titanium dental implant. These included chronic fatigue, mental dissonance, GI problems, and skin issues. I found a forum online where people were discussing similar issues to what I was experiencing, and found relief after having their dental implants removed. I evaluated my life focusing on the time of onset of symptoms and it made sense that the implant could be causing my issues. After careful consideration I decided to have my implant removed. However, I was at a loss to how I should do it. Most techniques to remove implant removal involve a trephination process where the bone around the implant is drilled to loosen the implant, and subsequently remove it. This is a traumatic procedure that requires a lot of healing and repair of the damaged tissue. Dr. Shumantov is one of only a handful of dental surgeons in the country who is able to remove dental implants by using a counter-torque method that literally screws the implant out of the bone--regardless of integration of the implant with the bone. There are a few different techniques to remove the implant, but these are the major two. All of this was explained to me by Dr. Shumantov the first time I spoke with him after calling his office to schedule a consultation. He answered himself and spent at least five minutes explaining the history of the procedure and what I should expect when I arrive for the procedure. This personal service and compassion is what you will experience if you go to Dr. Shumantov for dental assistance. Not to mention that he charged me a fraction for the removal of the implant than some other surgeon that quoted me for the same procedure. Do not let Dr. Shumantov's stoic disposition fool you, he is a very caring and understanding person. I only visited him the one time for the procedure, but he has followed up with me several times through text and email to make sure I have been healing properly. My experience with Dr. Shumantov has convinced me that he is not only a compassionate provider, but also very smart and skilled. My implant was in a narrow spot and was more difficult to remove than he had anticipated, but several times he reworked his approach and ultimately came through on his promise to remove the implant. Dr. Shumantov's office is located in Midtown East Manhattan, not far from Grand Central Station. I came from out of state, but there were plenty of hotel choices on the same street as the office. I stayed in the Kimpton Hotel, only a 2 minute walk from the office. Dr. Shumantov also has an office in Orange, New Jersey if you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of the city. His practice was very tidy and keenly decorated, with the feel of what you would expect from a Manhattan locale. His staff was very friendly. His assistant--I want to say his name is Elvis--was very helpful and kind as well. He had a general interest in learning Dr. Shumantov's technique because he was studying to become a dentist himself. If you think you may have problems stemming from your titanium implant, and want to have it removed, I highly suggest you reach out to Dr. Shumantov.
