I intentionally planned my 2 days in Denmark around this area, with my hotel and the sites I wanted to visit within walking distance. The current station building opened in 1911, with a major overhaul in 1980 including elevators, escalators and a new station concourse. It has 7 platforms and 13 tracks, making it the largest train station in Denmark. With 100,000 travelers per day, it is the second busiest in the country. Getting to it from the airport required taking the M2 line, transferring at Kongens Nytorv to the either the M3 or M4 line to get here. The journey took a little over 30 minutes, and the trains were relatively crowded on both the inbound and outbound. The cost was (30,00 DKK - $4.69 USD converted) for the one way. There are no gates of any sort, and I didn't see any security doing ticket checks. Read on-line that fines could be substantial. Since the trains to the airport run so frequently, didn't have a chance to admire/partake of the station. On my next longer visit, will linger a bit more.

The Metros run smarter, efficient and the subways are spotless! The majority of stations I visited all had elevator access and escalators. ( New York, are you there?) Here are some highlights: 1. Easy to use, 4 lines M1.M2.M3.M4 2. Inspectors/DSB on train asking you for your ticket to prevent fare invasion 3. Public restrooms clean and maintained. Some are free, some you pay which makes sense. Citizens who want a restroom, imo, contribute to keep it sparkling 4. Rules: Copenhagen is a bike city, thus, there are train rules; no bikes on train between 7am-9am. If you ride with bike there are bike cars and you buy a bike metro ticket ( New York, still there) 5. Ticket machines where you can buy different fare options and kiosks to check in 6. Korbenhaven H or aka Central station; so commuter friendly! All I can say is tak ( thank you) to Copenhagen for making my trip so easy to get around!

The British Tube, NYC subways and BART/MUNI have a lot to aspire to when it comes to Metro systems. The Danes know how to get it done right. The Metro here runs on time, and no drivers for the trains, which is pretty neat. Every station has digitized schedules so you know when the trains are running. And they are on time. You can either buy one trip tickets or look at options for 12 hours or longer. And you can also get a City Pass which gives you access to the metro and buses up to 120 hours. Just check on the DSB website for your needs and the system is self explanatory. What I love about Denmark is that while everyone usually speaks Danish, there is always an English option. Every single website I went to related to my Denmark travels had an English option. That's pretty amazing. The one important thing to note is that while you can't really scan your passes to get into the metro, don't be fooled to think that DSB authorities are not checking fares. I traveled to the airport a few times and a few times, attendants were strictly checking fare. In fact, my train ride for the last time to CPH airport, my fare was checked twice. I read some other reviews written here and if you don't have proper fare, you will get a fine for hundreds in DKKs, so totally not worth taking a risk at all. The trains are very clean, well run, stations also clean and signage/schedule are all easily understandable. This is the gold standard when it comes to Metro systems.

I'm a…read morehuge fan of urban metro transportation and I've ridden subways in more than three dozen cities around the world, from Atlanta, Boston and Calgary to Taipei, Tokyo and Washington. I've seen the bad (New York) and I've seen the good (Bilbao and Santiago). Copenhagen's system is a solid four star system. I love how the trains have a live "map" that indicates the line the train is on and where we are on it. What's next, what stations we've missed and how many more to go. This is super useful for a tourist like me. The trains I rode were clean. The stations were clean. There was excellent signage everywhere in English and in Danish. It's great.

Oh lord, where do I start ......? I'm writing this in English, though I'm Danish... just so y'all…read moreknow what you're in for ... EXPENSIVE AS HELL! Well, it's Europe - so you get a lot for the buck.... Well think again. Constant constant constant delays.... Cancellations that aren't always announced... change of platform a few minutes before departures... platforms that are hard to find... when you do get announcements they're often confusing or downright wrong. Aboard trains no one gives a CRAP! Quiet car? Who cares! People blabbing away on phones and staff does and says nothing, people who didn't pay for the business seat? No problem! You can stay! Not at all irking those around who did pay extra for that. And the icing on the cake was the train I took that was cancelled AS we pulled out of the station .... Then went back in after a lengthy stay on some random track. Only information I got was "well you can just take the next one".... Clearly that one was sold out and here I was having paid for a seat and going to end up, if I was lucky, on a 5-hour train ride where I could stand up the whole way, after paying for a business seat on the cancelled one. All very joyful. Booked another train for hours later and spent a good 4 weeks getting reimbursed for the first one. The best thing though .... This is really your ONLY option, if you're taking trains anywhere - and sometimes you get the feeling that they know this - so you WILL be back, regardless of how terrible it all is.

The stops on this line are within easy walking distance of each other, so I didn't end up using this station since the main central station was closer to my hotel. It is a deep ground station, with parts of it reaching 98 feet below street level.
