I can't say enough amazing things about this veterinary clinic. Dr. Johnston, Dr. Wood, and Dr…read more Crawford have all been incredible with both my cat and my dog. I especially want to give a heartfelt shout-out to Dr. Crawford. A few months ago, my cat was very close to crossing the rainbow bridge, and I brought him in for an urgent visit. It was Dr. Crawford's quick thinking, expert decision-making, and calm nature that saved my cat's life. It was an incredibly emotional day, and Dr. Crawford showed so much compassion while guiding me through the best decisions for my cat. He and his staff stayed with me until almost 10 p.m., waiting for the veterinary ambulance to arrive and transport my cat to the hospital. How amazing and sweet of them! Because of their dedication and care, I still have my sweet old man with me today--and he's doing well. I'm forever grateful and thankful to everyone at Soma Animal Hospital!

But when his symptoms returned Sunday morning, I called ahead and headed straight to SFAMC. From the moment we walked in, the team's sense of urgency to triage Winston brought tears to my eyes. My first main point of contact kept me informed throughout, and when the issue became clear -- a foreign object in his intestines (!) -- Dr. Adamson presented the options, risks, and likely outcomes clearly and compassionately. Winston underwent surgery with Dr. Mehl, I believe, and I picked him up Tuesday morning, a little groggy, but on the mend. Waiting in the lobby that morning, I watched so many other owners coming and going, some being reunited with their pets. It struck me: this team does this every day. I've lived long enough to know that not every outcome is positive -- but the care, competence, and professionalism I witnessed over those several days was genuinely encouraging. A heartfelt thank you to the entire SFAMC team -- from the front desk to the surgeons. Because of you, our favorite little munchkin is showing his goofy self again at home, where he belongs.

When I'm there in person they're rude and slow. It's unacceptable. It shouldn't take multiple emails to get a follow up. It REALLY shouldn't take 20 minutes on the phone to make an appointment for a general, routine appointment. This isn't how a San Francisco veterinary office should run.

I appreciate that I can call and get an appointment right away. I have an FIV positive senior cat, and senior dog with an auto immune issue, so we need a reliable, trustworthy vet we can go to when something seems off. Treatment is expensive, but worth it. They will make accommodations to save money as well, like pills vs shots etc. Cost is similar to the 3 other vets I've tried since moving to Sf 4 years ago. I'm so glad I found them, definitely recommend.

The estimate matched what we received from another vet but what set SF Vet Hospital apart was the care we received from Dr gill and our vet assistants, Jamie and Joy. There were a lot of emotions as we navigated the cost of 11 extractions and surgery on an 11 year old dog. Dr Gill and his team remained patient with us as we asked questions and discussed all of our options. Jamie talked us through the estimate and gave us a thorough explanation of everything they would be doing. She did not apply pressure and helped us navigate the procedure and related costs with care. We also really appreciated the care we received after the surgery as Dr Gill took us through why he had to remove each tooth and what to expect in recovery. Right after surgery Dr Gill told us our dog would be a different, happier dog in 2 weeks and we didn't think it was possible as he was already an outgoing happy dog. Now, a few months post surgery - it's obvious Dr Gill was right. This surgery has greatly improved Theo's quality of life - he has more energy, plays more, and is overall more cuddly. We are so thankful for the care we ALL received at SF Vet Hospital and will definitely be recommending and continuing to bring our (now toothless) Theo here.
