I've been bringing both of my cats to Nob Hill Cat Clinic since 2022, and overall they've received great medical care here. The clinic itself is clean, the staff is professional, and my cats have been helped many times. I also want to mention that this place is on the expensive side, so if you don't have pet insurance, be prepared to pay quite a bit out-of-pocket. My reason for leaving is based on my last couple of visits. Unfortunately, I felt like the vet spoke down to me when I asked questions. I'm not a vet, and I didn't go to school for this so if I ask something twice or need clarification, I don't think I should be made to feel dumb for wanting to understand my cats' health. It left a really bad taste in my mouth, and after it happened more than once, I decided to transfer both of my cats elsewhere. What's disappointing is that when we first started coming here, everyone was so friendly and welcoming. But once I began asking more detailed questions, the tone changed. After talking with a few friends who also left the clinic, they mentioned having similar experiences. To be fair, the clinic itself is great and I appreciate the care my cats have received. I'm not giving 1 star because the medical treatment was solid. However, I do think the vet needs to speak more kindly to clients not just the cats. We pay a lot to be treated by professionals, and part of that is communication and respect. I truly hope they take this feedback to heart, because the animals deserve the best, and so do the owners who love them. read more

Had a 2;30 appointment, was not seen for an hour, then wanted another hour fot. Totally unacceptable. Just awful.

This place is the absolute last pet hospital you should consider if your cat is sick. The moment you walk in the door they start badgering you for payment in the most ugly, aggressive way. Barely even a hello, and zero concern for the sick animal - it's just "visa or mastercard?" with no human emotion. That lack of concern is consistent throughout the entire experience from the front desk to the back of the hospital. The vets are rude and condescending and focused completely on their inflated salaries. It's tough to find good vets in San Francisco, since so many of them are owned by private equity firms, but take a hard pass on this one if you can. read more

In the 48 years until my late wife's passing we had enjoyed the affection and companionship of eleven cats (plus some short-term foster care felines). And Dr. Grace Carter stands at the top of the my list of veterinary professionals: her commitment to providing the best of veterinary care and her investment in seeing to the well-being of our cats is truly remarkable. Avoid this clinic at all costs. Seriously, do not go - they misdiagnosed my cat which ended in his death. For the last year, I'd taken my cat to this clinic for an intermittent cough. We took him here because it was so difficult to get into the SFSPCA after the pandemic. The first time Dr. Carter diagnosed it as an upper respiratory infection, and told us she couldn't hear or see anything on his x-ray. Additionally, she diagnosed my cat with kidney disease - early stage, nothing to be concerned about at this time. After giving him an antibiotic for a few days, he ended up getting EXPLOSIVE diarrhea and seemed miserable. We let Dr. Carter know and she told us to take him off the meds. Well, his diarrhea then continued for WEEKS and when we told Dr. Carter, she thought it was his food or it could have been IBD but she couldn't tell us for sure unless we got a $5k endoscopy, which would have still meant we would have to change his food. I gave him an over the counter anti- diarrheal and it immediately stopped. Less than 2 months later, his cough came back with a vengeance and I took him back to the clinic. My cat was miserable, clearly having labored breathing, one of Dr. Carter's first questions to me is if she could take HIS PICTURE FOR INSTAGRAM. Look at their instagram and you will see the miserable cats, coming in for treatment. My cat is clearly very sick, and that was a part of his intake exam? So inappropriate. She barely did any diagnostics - the only reason she took his blood was because she said we were due for for his senior labs - IN SIX MONTHS. She noticed his heart rate was low, but apparently that wasn't a concern. He'd also lost .6 lbs in the last 6 weeks and a total of 1.5lbs in a year - also not a reason for concern. Other than that, she pitched me not once but twice (and had her vet tech follow up with me) on an osteoarthritis vaccine that was costly. My cat is coughing himself to death, panting and drooling, and this vet was trying to upsell me on something completely unrelated. Fast forward to the next day, my cat was lethargic, having accidents on himself, panting, drooling and clearly dying. I took him to the emergency vet and they found that he was bleeding internally, he had blood and fluid in his lungs and he wasn't going to recover. We made the incredibly difficult decision to put him down. I was of course heartbroken. It turned out he likely had a tumor that ruptured and the emergency vet saw a mass on his x-ray which Dr. Carter had missed. I called Dr. Carter's office the next day they were open after the holiday weekend and let them know. Upon telling her receptionist that I had to put my cat down, she said "aww I'm so sorry" with the intonation of someone speaking to a child who dropped their ice cream. Actually that might have garnered more warmth. I also had to ask whomever manages their social media to take down a picture of my dead cat from their instagram. Other key takeaways - their vet techs did not wear gloves while taking my cat's blood. In fact I noticed my cat's blood on the tech's hand after the draw. Strangely, there aren't any sinks or trashcans in the exam rooms, so who knows how they are maintaining cleanliness. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

I used to go to Nob hill cat clinic for my cat but stopped after the last incident a few years ago, I had not had a chance to write a review. During the pandemic owners could not go back with their pets and there was a cat wandering the clinic and freaked my cat out. They made it seem like her behavior was unwarranted when she freaked out, but she was terrified of her environment. My cat is a sweetheart to all people but she is not used to being around other animals and I would think a vet clinic would understand that. It was unfortunate but I have not been back since and have been contacted by other patrons who had similar negative experiences. read more

We were always able to speak to someone knowledgeable when we had a question. Appointments were made at times we could handle. Emails and calls were always answered. We will miss you all. I've taken some time to make sure to give a fair review. This is also just my personal opinion. I recently moved here and my cat needed a check up. The reviews seemed nice so I tried this place. The receptionist called to confirm some information but was kind of rude. She asked if there was any other records from other places than what I had already given. When I told her no she proceeded to lecture about how it will take up a lot of time if there is and I didn't say anything and it may result in re-scheduling the appointment etc. I understand that is frustrating on their end, but I've had this cat for a few years and I have all her receipts in a folder. So I was very sure the information I gave was accurate. I decided to keep my appointment anyway because maybe the receptionist was just stressed that day. But the vet although nice was not very receptive to my information. Like it was very overarching and not considerate of my cat and her needs if that makes sense. I received an email from the vet with like 20 links on how to care for a cat. I'm not a vet or an expert by any means but I do know some things. It gave the vibe of, "going to the doctors and instead of listening to your concern, they tell you to lose weight or rest more here is a pamphlet for eating right". The vet tech was very nice and actually talked to me like a cat owner and not a run of the mill interaction. Talked me through the bill and options of further tests recommended. And respected my choices if I denied a recommendation. Because my cat is considered elderly I got a blood test. This place was considerably more expensive than I was used to but figured it is SF. Since that vet tech was so nice and upfront about costs, I felt more comfortable spending that money at the time. At this point I figured I would get my cat set up heath wise for this visit and be looking for a different vet after this experience. My cat does need dental and they gave me a quote. However after looking around the lowest end of their quote was still almost $1000 more than vets outside of SF. I am willing to drive 30-45 minutes if it means saving me that much more money. All in all my personal experience is this: vet techs are really nice but the receptionist and vet were very lecturing and not willing to focus on individual concerns just generalized a lot. I called Nob Hill trying to find someone to do an ultrasound on my cat. I'd just left Modern Animal whose vet examined and did X-rays and saw a mass on his abdomen. She referred me out to get an ultrasound and possible surgery. I saw that Nob Hill Cat Clinic reviews were pretty good, so I called on 4/20/24 at 12:30pm and the receptionist who answered...OMG she was so rude!! I told her my situation and asked a few questions, and I felt like I was bothering her!! She literally SIGHED twice as if my questions were annoying her! I mean I had a few more to ask but decided F--k it! LOL I actually had to stop from laughing and saying something rude back, but I just didn't have the energy to continue the conversation. I thanked her for answering my questions and wished her a good day. I figured there's no way I'm going to take my cat there, who knows how the rest of the staff is!! And if I'm going to spend at the minimum $2000+ for an exam, ultrasound and surgery, you better believe I'm going to spend it at a place that exudes kindness and compassion! It starts with the front desk. Customer Service will make or break a business!! BTW, I'm a Consumer Relations Manager and have been in customer service in the medical industry and consumer goods industry for 25+ years. I totally get that someone may have an off day for whatever reason. But, if your job is being the first interaction a new or established customer has, you have to "on" as soon as you say Hello. Do yourself a favor and read the 58 1-star Yelp reviews before ever putting your pet in the hands of these frauds. This is absolutely one of the worst places to bring your pet. I feel awful, my sister was looking for a new vet and I was trying to help her find a place. I would walk by this clinic all the time as I lived in the area and saw they had pretty high reviews so I suggested this place to her. I did not do my due diligence and it almost cost my sister's new seven-month-old kitten his life. My sister's cat went in for an overall wellness exam as she just got her cat. She mentioned that he had been scratching more than normal. She thought it was allergies of some kind. The vet gave my sister's cat an antihistamine, dewormer, and flea and tick medication. The next day my sister's cat was throwing up and had diarrhea. When she called the vet the next day expressing her concerns they said the vet would have to call her back. When the vet finally returned her call hours later, here is where things took a really bad turn. My sister asked if this could be a result of the medication they gave her and they dismissed her. They told her this sounds like your cat must have FIP a fatal virus. They gave this diagnosis over the phone without seeing the cat in person and told her to bring him in to have further testing done. This fear-mongering that they instilled traumatized my sister. The cat she had just taken in was perfectly fine they were now saying had a fatal virus. After they brought him in to be looked at again this is where all the red flags started. They wanted to do these tests, radiology scans, etc. She went to another place to get a second opinion before agreeing to the plan of action the vet suggested. Come to find out that the antihistamine they prescribed was dog-grade. My poor sister was poisoning her cat from the medication they prescribed her kitten. As soon as she stopped administering this medication the cat started to feel so much better. She was never warned of any side effects of this medication, and to be dismissed when her gut told her this could be what was wrong is horrendous! This place is prescribing the wrong medications, won't admit when they are at fault and is making cats sick just so they can bring them in for testing to do more harm and damage to them. It makes me sick! This place should be shut down based on all the "mishaps" that have happened to my sister's cat and all the others I've read about! RUN FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!! read more

Nob Hill Cat Clinic is now owned by Dr. Carter, a very good vet with a very caring and straightforward approach to doctoring. The staff is friendly and the vibe is like Especially Cats used to be; which is where Dr. Carter used to work a couple of years ago. BTW, I now call that place Expensively Cats, and don't go there anymore - all vets are pricey nowadays, but they are owned by a venture capital firm now. I gave up after they tried to charge us $80+ for a bottle of pills that can be had from Walgreens for under $15. By comparison, Nob Hill Cat Clinic seems to try to keep their prices as reasonable as possible. Nob Hill is a small operation, and they can be a little slow, but that is the only criticism I might have of them - the few bad reviews they've gotten sound like they are talking about an entirely different place! I've been going there less than a year, but so far they've been good to me. Including when I had to put a very old kitty to sleep - Dr. C was very kind and caring, and was also kind and caring when I had to put that kitty's brother to sleep at the start of the pandemic. And by the way, 'Em. S.', as for your claim that "A Google search on the owner Grace Carter, turns up the name Korol Constance which is one of those names scammers use..." - It has nothing whatsoever to do with scammers - it's because Dr. Constance Korol used to be the owner of Especially Cats, where Dr. Carter used to work!!! There is something strange going on with this clinic. A Google search on the owner Grace Carter, turns up the name Korol Constance which is one of those names scammers use to bury search results. Dr. Carter is the reason why my pet died. She misdiagnosed my 2 year old cat several times which resulted in botched treatment and incorrect medications that cost me several thousands of dollars. At one point she said she saw a cancerous tumor which sent me on a hunt for a veterinary oncologist. More money spent, and no cancer. Think twice about bringing your cat to this clinic. She never offered an apology and didn't even call me when I informed staff of my cat's death. This place is bad news. read more

First time ive been to a vet that specializes in kitties and very happy. Been there a handful of times now and always had a good experience. Knowledgeable staff that seems to truly love felines. They're very non-judgemental / low pressure, clearly breakdown costs with an itemized list before doing any procedure. If you feel a certain line item is out of your budget there's no problem. Sometimes kindness soothes an aching heart. One may assume that working in a pet hospital makes the doctors and staff jaded. However. they were compassionate and generous at all levels . Telling someone there is no good prognosis for their pet is a delicate thing. Dashiell, was a quiet,sweet beautiful boy who stopped eating. Knowing he was only three, I was not prepared to hear he was dying of an incurable illness Despite financial challenges I was committed to giving all I could for his wellness. I did not have an appointment but they found a way to fit me in for a lab test. It was a busy Saturday. Despite being pressed for time, the doctor wanted to discuss what was apparent.in the blood sample Dashiell had Feline Infectious Peritonitis. As she explained, along with some written material, this is a slow, painful disease with a prognosis of certain death The lovely vet who found the tine to explain his situation burst out crying. I was given time to grieve and not charged for the appointment, Knowing it was a difficult time they wanted me to use what I would have paid in veterinary fees to have a paw print made and have him cremated. I have been going here for many years. The staff has changed but the care has always been the same. Dr Doe has been there for my cat many times and was very gentle and loving towards her. I have been happy with their services. Now if only the price to care for my loved one is not so expensive! There are no parking lots for the clinic but parking is readily available everytime i am here. Mostly meter parking only. Coffee shop around the corner while i wait as well. I am so grateful we can take our cat to Nob Hill Cat Clinic -- it is a huge relief to have a vet we trust and that specializes in cat care. We have seen both Dr. Carter and Dr. Gonzales and they are both very thorough in assessing and explaining our cat's health needs. The nurses, techs, and front desk staff have always been kind and friendly to us and our cat as well. I appreciate the times the staff has been able to get us in the same or next day when something more urgent needs to be addressed. The waiting area and examination rooms are clean. Street parking can take a little time to find depending on the time of day you're there, I always try to give myself 15 extra minutes to look for parking. I am a new cat mom and will be returning back here for the time I am living in San Francisco. I went for my first check-up with my newly adopted kitties. They were super informative and treated one of my kitten's ear infection and gave clear instructions on next steps forward. They even gave me ample compassion when I returned a few days later after having accidentally left the antibiotics out of the fridge so had to get another refill. The energy of all the staff is warm and loving and the vet definitely knows her stuff! Can't say better things about this place. Prices are fare and I trust them with my babies 100% read more

I took my two 8 month old cats here, because the SPCA was booked up. Ultimately, it was a very disappointing and upsetting experience. We dropped them off around 1 pm (you are not allowed inside) and were given no estimated pick up time and told not to call and inquire. The cats were not ready for pick up until 6 pm. Considering this was just a wellness exam, I have no idea why they needed to be there for 5 hours. Seems like a lot of unnecessary stress for them. When the veterinarian called, she said one of my cats was so distressed they could not examine him and asked if they could sedate him. I said no, and wondered what was wrong because he's never had any issues at the vet. He is a super friendly and mellow leash cat who likes adventures and new people. I appreciated the advice she gave about my other cat, though if I would have followed all of her recommendations, we would have paid over $1000 for x-rays and tests that seem non-essential, for rather minor issues. When I picked up my cats, they were in their carriers in the lobby and there was another cat, loose in the office, staring at my cat from 5 feet away. My cat (who is indoors and has never been exposed to other cats) was hissing and clearly terrified. I have no idea why they would allow a free roaming cat to intimidate the other stressed cats in their carriers. It was very upsetting. After picking them up, my cat was hissing non stop, tried to bite scratch and bite me, and acted as though he did not recognize his own brother. I have never ever seen him like that. He was so upset and terrified that he did not recognize us, and he kept trying to attack his brother (who he loves). We had to separate them and re-introduce them over the next few days. After a few days, he went back to normal, but I can not even express how upsetting it was to witness him in this much distress. On top of all of this, I was charged for a wellness exam for the cat who did not receive an exam, and was just traumatized from being held there all day. I would have appreciated it if they had at least waived that fee. I'm sure it's possible to have a good experience here, and the veterinarian was certainly very knowledgeable and friendly. Though they have some questionable policies, and I would not recommend leaving your cat here if it would not be fine with a free roaming office cat being around it while it waits to be seen for hours. I have had much better experiences at the SPCA and will always take them there going forward, especially since you are allowed to come in and be with your cat(s) during the visit. read more

Dr. Doe, the previous owner, was my trusted vet for many years and I'm thrilled and relived that my cats are receiving the same standard of care under the new management. It is with a lot of conflict and tears that I write this review. But, would like to create awareness in hopes of preventing others from going through what my companion of 21 years and I experienced. Euthanasia was the most humane option for my old kitty as more serious symptoms piled on and suddenly took over. She was weak and tired, but still very alert. As the shot was about to be administered, I faintly heard the vet say "ok.. here we go.." (is this fun?? Ignore, be with kitty). As soon as the fluid entered the catheter and system, she recoiled away from me and belted out - not one, but TWO loud moans. She twisted again in the opposite direction and then she was gone. Her muscles slightly twitching as the vet felt around for a pulse. Flabbergasted and distraught, I asked what was happening. He explained it was all spasms and that he didn't think she felt anything. When asked why she wasn't given a sedative (as done by other vets in such instances) he said he simply chose not to because she was so calm. He "thinks" she didn't feel anything? I'm no expert but, can anyone confirm the validity of his statement? Prob not. As I left her remains and went out to the front desk, the receptionist greeted me with "..are you done?". I have dealt with other staff members here who were nice so, I know this does not represent everyone that works here; but feel compelled to mention: some need to work on their human skills a bit more. If you ever have to make this difficult decision (regardless of clinic or type of animal). I recommend that you verbalize to the vet that you wish to sedate your pet during the procedure. There should be 2 shots present; a blue for sedative and red for lethal injection. At the very least, the person saying good bye will not watch and listen in horror at what looks and sounds excruciating. Lastly, if you are willing and able: please be with your pet during their last moments. It matters and, while it won't be easy, it does help. read more

Brought my cat because he was losing weight. They recommended blood work, urine, and a general check up. Once test results came in, they recommended insulin. I bought the insulin kit and within a week, my cat went from eating lots and having a ton of energy to lethargic, and not eating. I called at 9:00 am to address this issue, and I was told she'd call me back once she talked to the vet. I didn't hear back until their closing time with a voicemail stating that they had no appointments the next day, so I should take my cat to the emergency clinic. The emergency clinic had to perform the blood test once again, because this clinic was closed and all I had was a receipt from Nob Hill Cat Clinic. No test results in writing and they were already closed. We stopped giving him insulin. read more

They hooked her to some horrible things then said she had to be put down which I agreed with. The whole approach they had was cold. Wanted to love NHCC as it's close to my apartment, but the only word I can use to describe their care is negligent. Respiratory infections are common in cats and easily treated. I learned this through the internet, because NHCC failed to treat AND diagnose my cat after 3 separate visits with 2 different vets. In fact, my cat's conditioned worsened considerably as a result of their advice that nothing was wrong. It was only after the third visit that I was finally given an antibiotic to treat his infection, because I told Dr. Doe I suspected he had one. He's only just starting to improve after a month of being sick, no thanks to NHCC. I waited ~40 min to be seen in all 3 visits to NHCC, only to be seen for fewer than 10 min each time. I was charged $400 total for my appointments, and they mistakenly sent me home with the wrong dosage of medicine after my last. I had to take off work early to pick up the meds they forgot to give me and pay for them in full, and after THAT visit they called after I already took off to ask me to resign a receipt they lost. Not a single apology from the vets or the other folks who work there. I don't usually leave negative reviews, but I love my cat and am appalled by both the (lack of) care and service we received from NHCC. They really don't seem to care what happens to the animals they see, as long as they can make a quick buck off them. read more

Not only are the doctors compassionate,caring,and kind but so is the whole staff...they act as though your kitty is their favorite. My Salt is a scaredy-cat and I also love the absence of dogs which with other vet waiting rooms made her even more nervous. I took my cat Bowie there because I found one flea in our house/on him and needed to make sure he didn't have fleas/got an oral medication (pet stores only sell topical and he is a hairless Sphynx cat so it's too toxic for him to lick off/be on his bare skin). They informed me ahead of time that they are using COVID precautions, therefore I would have to drop him off and pick him up an hour or two later. I expressed to the woman on the phone that Bowie is not used to being away from me and has never been around other cats so it's essential he gets a bit of extra attention/comfort and is NOT put with other animals. She said if I dropped him off later in the day (2pm) then hopefully he would be out soon and he would not be around other cats. To give to background--Bowie is well known in my family and friend groups as a "human cat"--he LOVES new people, no one has ever heard him hiss (we didn't even think he knew how to), and he would immediately snuggle up to strangers. He honestly had the sweetest disposition of any animal I'd ever had/met. Firstly, it was 5pm (when they were closing) that I had to call and ask for an update/if I could pick him up. They said they "hadn't gotten to him yet" and were extremely rude when I asked how he was. At 530, when I was finally able to get him, a vet tech brought him out in a cage (not the carrier I brought him in) and he was HOWLING and crying huddled in the back. They handed me a TRASH BAG filled with his nice carrier and blanket and said he'd had diarrhea and pee all over it "due to stress." They then charged me over $250. When we got home, Bowie was PHYSICALLY SHAKING. He wouldn't allow me to touch him or go near him--this has NEVER ONCE HAPPENED. I was terrified. He was crying and had blood ALL OVER HIS STOMACH. There were THREE GASH WOUNDS ON MY CATS STOMACH. When my neighbor, who he LOVES and regularly watches him, came over, he FREAKED OUT. He hissed and yowled and RAN. She was so horrified she said it was like a different cat had replaced Bowie. I seriously was SOBBING for 48 hours straight about my poor injured broken sweet little cat. I called them back to speak with the vet who "saw him" and she wasn't available and the front desk woman was rude to me even when I told her what had happened. I was even tearing up on the phone. Then two days later I get a voicemail from the vet that basically said "Yeah sorry your cat needs medication if he wants to come in next time so it's not so troublesome." I almost lost my absolute shit. My cat has been to vets 6-9 times through his three years of life and NEVER had EVEN ONE problem. The vets all wanted to keep him after treating him, he was so great. To reiterate--stay as far away from this place as humanly possible. It took 2 weeks for Bowie to get back to normal and he is still so scared of going anywhere at all and even getting into his carrier now. If you care about your cats at all, I am begging you to not go here. My cat still isn't fully the same even though his physical wounds have healed. read more

Excellent care for almost 3 years for our precious cat. Found them through Google/Yelp when we first moved to SF in mid 2020 and followed with them until this Spring 2023 when our beloved cat was ready to cross Rainbow Bridge. They were reasonably priced for what our pet insurance covered and I liked that they were specialists in cat care. We worked with Dr Grace Carter. She was fantastic, empathetic, and detail oriented. She caught on as soon as our cats condition worsened and was thorough in her work ups, which helped us prolong our cats quality of life. As a human physician myself, Dr Carter spoke with me at my level and helped us make very informed decisions about our care. I NEVER felt like I was being tricked into paying for extra or unnecessary services, which unfortunately happens a lot in the veterinary medicine world. Near the end of our cats life, we felt lucky that, with Dr Carters attention, we got another happy 3 months with our Kitty beyond what other vets had predicted. Even once we moved away from SF, we did paid phone consultation with Dr Carter that helped us make the right decisions for our elderly cat. The clinic atmosphere itself is very welcoming and comforting, down to the staff putting on cat TV to entertain my nervous cat while we waited in the exam rooms. Dr Carter and staff would also take extra time to call me back for clinical questions, discuss lab results in depth, and were quick with arranging med refills. Because they do have a large loyal clientele, you do need to plan ahead for appointment openings and can't expect urgent appointment openings same week, but they are very good at triaging when to take your cat elsewhere for time sensitive needs. Only thing to note is parking can be tricky in that neighborhood so always budget 30 min to find street parking. I highly recommend this clinic. read more

As an FYI, this review is based upon treatment received from NHCC between 2001 and 2005. I had used NHCC and Dr. Doe for both of my Bengal cats and at the time, liked them. But as the years went on I found they seemed to always want to do an inordinate amount of tests and dental work (claiming plaque, teeth removal, etc). Like many others in SF, transportation was limited and I lived 4 blocks away which made NHCC a convenient choice. Since leaving SF, I've used a handful of other vets with my Bengals and have never heard recommendations/comments that I heard at NHCC. In the end, I think they purposely recommend unnecessary and expensive treatment that helps them out. Now as a loving pet owner, who's going to say no to make sure Fluffy stays healthy?! And imho, I think NHCC takes full advantage of that emotional lever and your trust. They may be ok as vets but they will certainly clean out your pocketbook/wallet along the way. read more

Do not take your cat to this clinic if you care about his/her life - Their negligence was a factor in the death of our cat. Our cat stopped eating all of a sudden. We took him to the clinic 3 times during the week before he died to perform various tests and pick up medication, and every time I had to call multiple times until I eventually would get a short, rushed phone call back. The vet did mention early on that he might have an intestinal blockage (which is what killed him), but she never made it sound like a big emergency. And no one ever seemed very concerned about him. In fact, the day before he died, I called at 8AM asking to get his vet records so we could show them to a vet friend of ours. I called again at noon, and again at 4, begging for the records to be sent to me. When I called at 4, the tech told me that I couldn't get the records until the doctor went over the results with me, but the doctor already HAD gone over the results with me. I said I needed the results because our cat was literally dying, and eventually I got the results that evening, but only after really pushing it on the phone. By the time we did surgery, it was too late, and our cat died due to complications. He was less than 3 years old. If we had gotten the vet records sooner, we probably would have taken him to ER a day earlier, and he very well might have lived. Our cat's death was definitely not entirely Nob Hill Cat Clinic's fault, but it was a factor. They are understaffed, always in a hurry, and don't have time to pay attention when there is an emergency. We are taking our remaining cat to a different veterinarian for certain. read more

We took our cat in to have her bathed and brushed as she is a Maine Coon and has long hair.....being that I suffer from Allergies I thought this would be good for her to rid herself of the dander on her body as she had been scratching quite a bit. She also needed a booster shot and was given this as well. We were never once told that the booster shot may cause a reaction and the next morning she was very still and lying near our heater to keep warm....she had a fever. We called NHC and told them of this and they said to bring her in that they would check her. We did, and we found out that she had a 104 fever. They wanted to charge us $40.00 for a shot to cool her body down to which after much thought, I declined and told them that my partner and I were never told that the booster shot may have a reaction before we left the clinic, nor was it written in the paperwork they gave us when we left. This scared me quite a bit when I woke up and Missy did not eat, nor wanted to be near me or be touched. All she wanted to do was to lay near the radiator to keep warm. She acted very unusual and we have had her now 4 years...this was uncommon for her and I knew that something was wrong. Had the clinic told us that her booster shot may cause a reaction, I would have been okay with that and allowed them to administer the "cool" down shot (can't remember the name) but they didn't, therefore scaring us to death that something was wrong with her. They admitted they had forgotten to tell us and said they were sorry....but, sorry doesn't cover the fact of what had already happened.... On another note, since Missy is a long haired cat, we asked for a "panty clip" and they shaved her whole backside down so far that I believe they made her bleed and caused a scab near her anus. I told them what I thought of them, walked out and politely slammed their door behind myself....as any real pet lover, you might could understand my actions! I would never trust these people again EVER!!! Please consider taking your cats elsewhere for treatment. read more

I brought my 9 year old cat here since she had stopped eating and drinking water. She dropped 3 pounds since her last visit and has been generally unwell. They told me to do blood tests and urine tests to see what was going on. 500$ later, they tell me all her vital signs are perfectly normal and the only thing to worry about was a large lump in her abdomen. They also told me her white blood cell count was extremely high. They told me the next step I had to take was pay 1500$ just for an ultrasound which would already pretty much conclude what the tests told us which is most likely cancer. I called the vet and said I would initially go through with the ultrasound, but decided a few days later to cancel. My cat stopped eating and drinking all together and was pretty much dying. Not moving etc. I called the clinic and they said the vet would get back to me in a week because they're just so slammed. At the time I thought hopefully someone would get back to me sooner - they didn't. I had to call again and say the urgent state of where my cat was since the last visit seeking advice. They told me that unless I paid the 1500$ for the ultrasound that they couldn't help me or give any advice... I decided not to move forward with the ultrasound because I know my cat, and from what I can tell she is dying right in front of me. After calling a few times someone got back to me and said they're closing but that I could take her to an ER. I don't see how this is helpful granted she's dying and has a lump that's not going anywhere... Do not take your cat here. Everyone seems to be entitled, rude and after money. They do not care about your cat and their health. I always felt like I was getting ripped off when trying to scream to tell them how urgently I needed advice. I will be asking for her records and finding a new vet ASAP. read more

While not my regular vet, I decided to bring in my newly adopted rescue cat (who's a genuine fixer upper) since I couldn't figure out how to get her ear gunk under control and I wanted a few other things checked out on her. I called in the morning and was able to get a late, after work appointment for the same day! Happily, they're just around the corner from me, so I got home from work, packed up my kitty and headed on over. Probably because it was later in the day, there wasn't a lot of staff so there was a bit of a wait as the single girl in the front took care of people coming in and leaving. I filled in my paperwork and was shown into a room pretty quickly. A vet came in, asked some questions, and went over my cat and gave her a checkup. She properly diagnosed a few things that I'd thought were other issues, found some things that needed clearing up, and was very friendly and easy to talk to on top of being knowledgeable and professional. In the end, she gave me a few options for treatment and discussed follow up. The cost was extremely reasonable given the three sets of medications I left with. For quick appointments, I'll likely keep visiting Nob Hill Cat Clinic, as they've got a good atmosphere and friendly staff, plus they're super convenient for me to get to! read more

As the daughter of a veterinarian, and the sister of two veterinarians, I feel qualified to report this is the worst clinic I have ever been to. I bought a Persian female cat. After four visits including a Urinary tract issue, and a preop visit for a spay....and the clinic never figured out my cat was not female but male. This clinic is on the higher side price wise. I did not receive value for my service at this clinic. read more
