I loved the layout of the venue very intimate with the stage but still tons of standing room and if you didn't want to be inside with the crowd there was a tv with the ample outside seating where you could watch the band. The bathrooms were very spacious and super clean. The little taco stand in the back was perfect too. The tacos were delicious. I wish we had a place just like Moe's in Sacramento . I will definitely come to Moe's again next time in town.

Their music is infectious, like a sonic virus that penetrates the auditory cortex and sets up standing waves of bliss and intrigue, and which also penetrates the motor cortex and sets your feet on autopilot. They find the dirtiest nastiest funkiest grooves with just the right amount of dissonance to keep you hooked, like an itch that you can only partially scratch. In addition to their own vulgar grooves, they pay homage to artists ranging from Gary Bartz, Gil Scott-Heron, and Michael Jackson to Burt Bacharach/Hal David and George Harrison. And they've been at this for over 30 years now - yet you look at them playing and they are constantly laughing and joking with each other. Somehow they still seem to love playing with each other, and that energy comes across to the audience at every show. This might be their hidden superpower - the love the 5 of them have somehow held onto for doing this together all this time.

The interior was the standard bowling alley, brighter than the usual bowling alleys I've been to though. Didn't get food, but I assume it's the standard bar food. The service from Ana was great! She was super nice and very helpful. We ended up paying $43 total for 2 shoe rentals and 2 games each (4 games total). We were given a 6lb ball that they had behind the counter for smaller kids to use to bowl. I was halfway through my 1st game and my 1.5 year old wanted to bowl so I let him take over. Like the usual 1.5 year old, he liked standing near the ball return and pushing the bowling balls around. I figured it made more sense to let him push around a 6lb ball instead of a 12lb ball to avoid any finger crushing. I went to the front desk to ask for another 6lb ball. An employee named Ethan had a very disrespectful tone of voice when answering my question. In reply to me asking for another 6lb ball, he said the following "Nope, we already gave you guys one, your kids can take turns. You can only have 1 6lb ball per lane." He definitely didn't listen to why I was asking for another ball as he was too young to understand anything in relation to kids as he was one. They had 8 more 6lb balls behind them and I'm puzzled as to why it was such a big deal let alone to be that disrespectful about it. TLDR: Get helped by Ana, she's nice. Don't bother asking Ethan for help, he's disrespectful.

Crispy tots with pico, grilled jalapeno slices, and bourbon bacon bits. Very tasty! Without prompting, Colton brought us a sample of their potato soup. It tasted amazing. So much so, my buddy and I each ordered a pint to take with us. Super nice touch. This was my first experience at Bruno's. Parking is street only which can be quite problematical in Santa Cruz in general, not excluding this location. This is especially true when there is an event here. Some folks try the lot next door what has that chinese restaurant which you can get away with sometimes, but the parking lot with the pharmacy is a bad idea. If you go they will tow. There is a pay lot a couple blocks away towards the bus station,and of of course the bus station itself is right close by both of which are quite acceptable options. Inside there is not a lot to the space. It's tiny, and when something is going on-a band, free market, rally meeting, teach in or whatever it can quite easily seem to be cramped if not claustrophobic. The outside is utterly charming. It's carefully laid out and the light effect with the trees is extraordinarily pleasant. Hours are whatever they want them to be-which theoretically is half days from thursday thru sunday, but they will be open outside of regular posted hours for events of various kinds. Try not to talk about the government, check out the library (it's great spot to educate yourself on viewpoints that you may not have considered) and remember to bring a few bucks to throw in the pot. That last is especially true if you plan to eat, drink or take something (like a pamphlet) with you. A totally unique santa cruz local color spot no matter the occasion.
