Great park! Lots of concrete paths with benches, trees, large covered picnic tables, bbq grills, a small playground area, large open area perfect for a family ballgame. Dog friendly with bag station. Bathroom facilities. The important thing here though, is the extensive memorial. Spread around the park are several beautiful and sobering displays of mostly New Mexican Veterans in wars spanning many decades. A beautiful metal sculpture featuring both male and female veterans is striking in realism. Bricks and copper plaques adorned with names of those who gave all in service accompany an amazing marble structure featuring photos of servicemen lost. There are several plaques and inscriptions detailing the history of some of these battles. High above everything sits a helicopter tilted at a disturbing and likely realistic angle as though it were going down in a terrible way. This is a fantastic park, both in beauty and history. My husband served in the USArmy in the 1970s and my father in Korea, brother, and two generations of grand- and great-grand parents, as well. This us a fabulous memorial to ALL who stand for us and the sacrifices they willingly make. *There are signs warning of snakes. Dont take this warning lightly. Lovely paved walking paths if you walk past the kids play area through the field towards the back is the trail entry, it's hard to know it's there if you haven't been here before, easy to take dogs on, and nice scenery. read more

Veterans Memorial Park is appropriately located on a serene, elevated location off of Roadrunner Parkway. This park is the home of the Bataan Memorial Monument dedicated to the WWII Bataan Death March victims. They also have a monument paying tribute to those who served in past wars. I find Veterans Park to be a great location to meditate and learn about the history of our country. There is also access to a local trail which overlooks Las Cruces. If you have children, this is a park also has bbq pits, picnic tables, a playground, and a playing field. Very pretty, well groomed park with lots of room for kids and pets to run and play. There is a large, covered pic-nic area as well. The memorial is well put together and a really nice way to remember those who fell in Vietnam from the local area. read more

For a medium size city of Las Cruces, this Veteran Memorial Park truly honor veterans as early as the Civil War up until the Afghanistan War. No war goes unnoticed as seen in the area where the flags are half staff. The standing helicopter and numerous statues give the memorial a 3D feel. ALL Vets get off I-25 and see this jewel! A very informative veterans museum showing all eras. A NEW granite Veitnam memorial wall replica will be installed shorty replaceing current metal pannels. Almost feels like the real wall. A very moving pit stop for us with great volunteers. read more

I've traveled through a lot of the US, and I try to stop at any veterans memorial I can find. I've seen many that are worth the stop, but the Las Cruces Veteran's Memorial Park exceeds any expectations I had. It is very well laid out, and very well maintained. While it focuses primarily on the servicemen and women from this state, it pays tribute to servicemembers of nearly every American conflict. If you are a veteran, or someone who enjoys seeing a tribute to the American armed services, you simply cannot afford to miss this. read more

Beautiful Memorial only wish I could add my husbands name. He served in Korea and Vietnam. Lived here 60 years and did not qualify to have his name listed as he did not join the Army here but did reenlist here and served 18 years. It was a wish of his that his name be added, sadly I can not fulfill that dream. read more

You have to stop here. They did a great job from the Revolutionary war to Gulf war. The Vietnam memorial is much better than one in Washington DC. Kiddos to the people who put this together. They are putting a women's memorial up. May come back to see this. read more

Stopped here by accident. It's a great memorial with different sections for different wars. Worth a stop if you're in the area.

Still a good park, and the veteran side is well tended; however, the main field has fallen into a state of disrepair. You could not play any type of sport out there nowadays as the grass has enormous holes. More often than not, we take the family to Sagecrest park a few blocks south where the grass is in MUCH better condition. read more
