It seems like the two names, Oakbrook Terrace and Heritage Park, are used interchangeably. Nonetheless, this was a random discovery when I was browsing Google Maps for playgrounds to check out and it is a definite keeper! The park is quietly tucked within a neighborhood. So far we have visited twice in the morning and there were very little people to share the space with. Although I would like the social factor and enjoy the bustle with running and laughing children, but the quietness is particularly beneficial to my firstborn's short attention span. It allows her to stay focused on her tennis lessons with her daddy. The tennis courts are well maintained and within walking distance of the playground. It is easy for us to toggle between the two. The playground appears to be recently renovated. There is a small section for toddlers and larger section for older kids. The space is well divided so the younger children can stay in their area without feeling intimidated. The flooring for both sections is a mix with some parts having wood chips and others having rubber. The rubbery ground is a uphill and down slope climb and it was a great way for my girls to run up and down to expense their endless energy. Otherwise, there is also the typical playground equipment such as slides, climbing ropes, ladders and spirals, and monkey bars. Side note - This playground is incredibly close to Frankie's Deli which is a favorite of ours!

As a mom of little ones there is always the quest to find a great park to appease all parties…read more Winding Creek Park is one of the best out there for young, really young and some middle aged parents. ;) For the wee ones the park boasts two baby swings, a smaller playset that crawlers can navigate with help, a calm sounding babbling creek, lots of clean, fluffy grass to spread a blanket on and gaze at the clouds and a path that is stroller friendly. For the elementary set there is a bigger play area with lots of spinning things(you literally, sit, stand or hang off these contraptions and spin at high speed. $50 you will take turns with your kid!), swings, a super tall slide and lots of things to climb, swing, jump, hang, slide on. The park has two baseball diamonds and the creek is pretty enough to peak creative play and maybe get a little muddy. For the adults there are plenty of benches, a picnic table under shelter, a private parking lot, no sand AND a potty! A Port-o-potty of course but in a pinch it works. One worthy note is that WCP is on the Park Districts short list of parks to rent. They put quite a chunk of change into it with the added bike path, brick paved parking lot and covered picnic area. That fact alone makes it one of the area's best parks! WCP was renovated with the new playsets a few years back and has quickly become a favorite meeting spot for playgroups from the area and from other suburbs(mom's network at play for that). So pack a picnic, bring some balls and enjoy one of the best parks out there!

The ramps are double wide so there is plenty of space for children of all ages to share the play space. However, there are separate sections for younger and older children so the young children won't have to feel intimidated. 2) The whole playground has a rubbery ground so it is very comfortable and safe. 3) There are slides of various sizes, rock climbing walls, flying saucer swing, zip line, assorted climbing structures such as panels and ladders, and swing sets. 4) The tennis courts are just around the corner so this is definitely a keeper because our 4-year old has begun taking tennis lessons from her daddy.

This is a small park so this review will be short…read more There's a free concrete splash pad that, while simple, seems to keep the kids busy and happy. There's a slightly shaded area with tables and chairs. For additional fun, plan on bringing buckets or other water related toys. We brought small squirt guns and a couple other toys but had a slight issue getting all our toys back. There was also an issue with sharp broken plastic pieces from some toy that another family brought and didn't seem to care to pick up(even after I addressed them....), but I picked them up and discarded them in a jiffy. The bathroom is a portapotty that's only cleaned weekly, but again, this is a very small park. There's also an area to play tennis that looks nice if that's your sorta thing. Looking forward to our next visit.

This is a vast park district with plenty to offer…read more There are two playgrounds that are separated by a parking lot. One playground is situated behind a school and it is more ideal for older kids. The other playground is closer to the obstacle course and pickleball courts. This playground is ideal for children ages 1-8. Both playgrounds have plenty of slides, swings, and climbing structures for the kids to expense their energy. The obstacle course is a fun activity for adults. My brother and I challenged each other to see who could complete the course under a minute. It served as a good testament for some friendly sibling rivalry. The only downside is the tennis courts were converted to pickleball courts. So although it can still serve our purpose for tennis lessons, it isn't the most ideal with the small courts and lower nets.

There is a very large pond for fishing or simply admiring (no swimming). When winter conditions are right, the pond is available for ice skating. There is a steep hill in the park ideal for sledding too. In addition there is an historic log cabin on the Main Street side of the park available to rent. It has a small kitchen, a fireplace, and AC. It can accommodate 75 for a meeting or 50 for dining. I come to Four Seasons Park to walk , look for wildlife, listen to songbirds in spring, and watch the seasons change. The park is safe, spacious and well kept. There are large expanses of grass and on the south side of the park near the pond is a particularly pretty area with several large weeping willow trees. I especially enjoy the park in spring and fall because it is peaceful. You'll likely see many squirrels, Canada geese, ducks, and maybe a bunny. Watch your step in some areas! When I say many geese, I mean MANY geese. Meander around the sledding hill. There's a nice view from the top and, if you look carefully at the surrounding thickets, you'll find secret passageways. The playground area is set up for children ages 2-5 on the north end and 5-12 on the south end. The play area is super clean and well maintained. The kids stayed in the north end of the park and didn't tire of the unique climbing wall, and unusual things to climb and swing on. One set was a standing swing which I hadn't seen before but the kids loved it. This park has the usual slides, swings and such, but the unusual sets were well thought out and fun. There also is an area for picnics and a covered area where we saw a large children's party. There are facilities as well, but we never used those. Lots of benches and picnic tables. We will be back. Highly recommend.
