She also mentioned they put up a little fence recently but I am perplexed they didn't fence in the whole park?? What's the point? There's a huge ditch next to it so just be sure to keep a careful eye on your children. The best part is that it is shaded! yay! They have a small play area with mulch and in the middle of that is a covered table. It also has a sidewalk that goes around the perimeter and offers exercise obstacles every so often to add an element of cardio and strength training to your work out, if you're interested. It had a good amount of tree coverage offering shade during the hot part of the day. It was pretty quiet when we were there and our little had fun exploring. Overall: A+ Nice park with easy access and a good trail around. Can't wait to take her again and let her explore more as she grows.

Shady Park is located in the historic Hannibal Square in Winter Park. Hannibal Square was founded…read morein 1881 as the African-American part of Winter Park. The residents provided the labor that built the town of Winter Park and they worked as domestic servants for wealthy families. The railroad tracks provided the dividing line in the town with whites living on the east side of the tracks and blacks on the west side. You can learn more about the history of this area at the Hannibal Square Heritage Center located across the street from the park. Shady Park is located next to a community center. There is a paved walkway, benches, and a gazebo. There is also a splash pad for kids to have wet fun. My favorite part of the park is Molecular dog. The sculpture was created by Miami artist Robert Chambers. Molecular dog is a five foot tall, eight foot long bronze sculpture of a dog. At first glance it looks like a blow up balloon sculpture but on closer examination it is the three molecule structure for propane. Chambers created the art work to highlight the qualities of propane that make it more environmentally friendly than gasoline. Liquefied petroleum gas is cleaner and cheaper than gasoline. It is also colorless and odorless. I really enjoyed learning about the history of this place and seeing the art sculpture. Although not as well known or trafficked as Central Park, Winter Park's larger and more well known park, this small park has it's charm.

I am sure that this park serves the particular neighborhoods around it well. There are some great parks in the Orlando area and honestly this park gets overlooked and overshadowed (a bit of pun intended there) by those significantly larger parks. I would recommend that if you are in the area that this place wouldn't be the worst place to check out. I will say that our lord your Parks have more to offer and if you're looking for a destination type park, you would probably be better suited looking for one of them.

He enjoyed everything this park has to offer- watching the big kids play on the big kid playground, playing on the "little tikes" playground, pushing his wagon around the walking loop, watching some guys play basketball on the courts, and best of all, running around on the splash pad! I was actually trying to find a different park near the airport when I accidently stumbled on the…read morethis oasis of nature. Airport Lakes Park was developed with the help of a Florida Communities Trust grant. The proximity of the park to the Orlando Airport means you will see a lot of planes flying overhead. The Orlando Airport was once a part of Pinecastle Air Force Base during WWII so I imagine this park was too. This park is a welcome recreational amenity for both locals and the travelers passing through the area. Airport Lake Park exceeded what I was expecting. Near the parking area are restrooms and a playground. The real gem of the park is the back area where there is a nature trail and disc golf course that was being used by several groups of people during my visit. Unfortunately the nature boardwalk that takes you out to Lake Warren was closed due to storm damage. This would have been a really nice feature so I hope they plan to repair it. The park also has a lighted athletic field and soccer field and picnic pavilions with grills. I had a pleasant walk around the nature area. There are several hotels nearby so this would be a great spot to get exercise or take the kids to play. The disc golf course is already very popular with locals.

Lots of parking is available. Bathrooms are available here as well. I didn't need to use them so no idea how well they are cleaned or maintained. A nice park near some of the Orlando airport hotels.

This park is more of a neighborhood park and could never be considered a destination type park like Lake Eola Park in downtown Orlando, but we need these neighborhood parks just as much as we need those more impressive destination type parks. We had some time to kill in the morning though, so instead of hitting the gym we decided to hoop it up a bit. after striking out at a few other parks we found on line, we drove to this spot. It's a classic neighborhood style park. There is a good size kids play area with a jungle-gym, swings and stuff. There was also a set of 2 basketball courts, which was our goal. They were nice courts. The nets were fairly new and there court itself was in good shape. The 4 half-courts were fenced in. That proved to be handy as our shots weren't all going in on this day. The nets were actually so new that the basketballs were getting stuck but can't complain about too new of nets. We didn't stay too long, but I did appreciate what a nice little park it was.
