The prices were more than fair for the amount of work the instructors put in for this event! There was also another paint and sip party in the backroom, the place is larger than you expect looking from the outside. The location is easily accessible and had ample room for a party in the back while we painted our pets out front. Lisa and the other instructor (we only caught one of the instructor's names) were incredibly patient. As someone who isn't very talented in the art department, I didn't feel shamed when I had questions or ran into a problem that I couldn't fix. The two hours flew by and there were many laughs and smiles had by all. It's a really well kept area and I would definitely come back here for another event.

Our instructor was fun and upbeat, making most anyone feel comfortable to attempt putting paint into canvas! In my group were people who had never done a paint and sip before, but their artwork still turned out beautifully.

This year was our turn to host Christmas and I was stressed out about how we would accommodate everyone, which could range from 30-50 people. Not only were we passed the hosting torch from my in-laws, but we were the first to host outside of our home. I've lived in the neighborhood for almost a decade and passed this place countless times, but had no idea it was a VFW. When I reached out about renting the space, the post commander was super helpful. Husband and I took a tour and booked it. I came back once more to get photos and measurements so we could plan for the event. They have plenty of tables and chairs and the beams in the room have LEDs which we set to red and green to make it festive. We ended up with 50 people for a sit down dinner, which we did potluck. We got so many compliments on the party and the space. We had plenty of space for people to sit, food, and kids to play. The post commander was also our bartender (you can bring food, but alcohol goes through the VFW) and he was great with everyone from the older relatives to the smallest kids. We aren't up in the rotation again for 5y, but I wouldn't hesitate to host here again. They're not usually open, so you can't just show up and grab a drink at the bar, which is a shame because it's just the kind of place we would frequent. Overall this was perfect for our needs, including the price. You don't need to be a vet to rent the space.

Not only is the setting beautiful, but we could tell from the beginning that our occasion mattered to Silver Lake staff. For something as meaningful as a wedding, you want to feel special. We felt supported and in good hands; that feeling was consistent throughout the planning process as I planned our wedding (without planner) and had many questions to ask Janene along the way. Amy was super hands-on for the day-of, making sure things went according to plan. She even made our rehearsal fun. My sister and I were both fortunate enough to have celebrated our wedding receptions at the Flossmoor Country Club in the 1980's due to our grandmother's membership, even though our grandfather had passed away many years before. Since it is on such a busy street and is centrally located in the south suburbs of Chicago, the privacy of the clubhouse and parking lot makes the venue so lovely for a family event like a wedding reception or a shower. The beauty of the oak trees and greens were a perfect backdrop for wedding photos. The professionalism of the service staff and delicious meals were the best parts of these events. It has recently been brought to my attention that the Flossmoor Country Club has been purchased and will not allow wedding receptions and private banquets. I have mixed feelings about this. A private club, for members who can afford to sustain it, should be available on weekends and evenings for dinner service for it's members. However, a member should be allowed to plan a wedding in a clubhouse where he or she is a member. Nothing would make me happier than the Flossmoor Country Club to enjoy the success that they had in the past and, in this Renaissance, I believe that women and families should be the nexus of the club's mission statement.

Multiple cards containing cash, gift cards and checks in excess of $1500 were stolen from our card basket. The club tried to blame our guests, our band and even us saying we must have dropped them. After a police investigation the police have arrested a member of the staff at the club. We reached out to the club about trying to get some type of compensation, and they have never responded or even apologized for what happened. This incident has left us sick at heart and totally embarrassed, as we had to contact all our guests about the missing cards. It has put a big dark cloud over our memory of what should have been the happiest day of our lives.

The cool part is that you can bring in food from any of the local places down the street, which fits perfectly with the whole neighborhood atmosphere. Then there's the basement speakeasy, which has an entirely different feel and is easily one of my favorite parts of the place. Overall, this is one of those places that reminds you that you don't always have to head into the city to find a great night out. It's comfortable, welcoming, has plenty of personality, and feels like it belongs exactly where it is. I joined here when I moved into the neighborhood 5 years ago and never signed back up. I was thoroughly disappointed in every aspect. Let's start with the socialization: so I was hoping to meet other women and moms and make some possible friends. Absolutely did not happen. Even when my daughter and I would visit the pool, no one would say a word to us. Filled with cliques. It's all about comparing who to who and keeping up with the Jones's. Who can out-do who and brag the most is who's praised and worshipped. It's gross. Typical country club filled with people who think they're better than everyone else. 2) Now let's talk about customer service! What a horror show. I took my parents here for dinner one evening and as we were being sat, my mom had sat on BROKEN GLASS. Yep, that's right - broken glass was apparently complimentary on her seat. It tore a hole through her pants and as she expressed her concern, not even one member of the staff could care less. She even BLED and they didn't offer so much as an apology. If condescending energy and bragging rights is your thing - by all means - sign right up! This country club and any like it can kiss my heiny as far as I'm concerned though. Full of stuck of snobs.
