Second day didn't got as well, numerous back ups , often times as many as 4 or more foursomes waiting, took many golfers out of their rhythm which caused disappointment issues. Can't think of a better way to spend Memorial Day than a pig roast at the Gary, IN American Legion…read more I wasn't sure if we'd get in since there's a giant sign on the door that says MEMBERS ONLY, but our buddy said ignore it. OK, we ignored it and walked right in. We were met with friendly smiles and the smell of roasted pig. Yum! We paid our $7 and grabbed a plate and a beer. The food was pot-luck style and delicious. Pork, turkey, chicken, noodles, all kinds of sides & desserts. Bottles of Bud Lite are $2 and we even saw a cute bulldog at the bar. You gotta love seeing pooches in a divey bar! After eating in the outdoor beer garden, we shot the breeze with the Vets and thanked them for their service. A nice afternoon all around.

It's open to public but must be a member to take part in some of the extras. There is a new kitchen with a great menu and some amazing food to select. They offer daily special while being able to select other meals from the main menu. Incredible crowd with many local regulars who invite all to visit the post. The bar tenders are a very friendly group who can make some great drinks! Post offers horse shoes in the nicer months while offering cornhole inside in the cooler months. They often have great live music and karaoke. They have Golden tee, Touch tunes, a Stuffed animal claw machine and fresh daily popcorn. They have a monthly fish/chicken fry and Sunday all you can eat brunch.
