Utterly amazing! This was a great park in choosing to visit. Having had family who served, this was another great way to honor them and others who served our great country. Lots to see and take in. Don't overlook the botanical area in the rear of the park. Lots of hiking paths to travel. Probably more than I walked since I was pooped already from all the walking. This is a great running/walking park close to home. The trail is clean and nice. Ppl go here to play disc golf or to practice for sports. The veterans memorial statutes are nice and there is an amphitheater, ducks and turtles in the water. The grounds also have a garden situation and some bench seating sprinkled along the way. Went here (the trail side) to look for spots for me to take senior pictures and I was very unsatisfied, this park has gone downhill the past couple of years. They had many trashbags in one spot and smelled awaful, so many dead weeds that have not been taken care of. There used to be a bunch of flower spots to take pictures in and there was only about two that I saw and even the bridges there were overfilled with weeds so couldn't take pictures there. Overall very disappointed in this park this year, it needs to be taken care of like it used to be about 5 years ago. read more

I've been here a couple of times and I'm glad to have this park nearby. The park is peaceful, has two playgrounds, plenty of benches, a water fountain near a pond, restrooms, a library stand, statues and monuments to honor the soldiers that sacrificed their lives for our freedom. Veteran Park in Texas is a peaceful spot, perfect for those days when you need to clear your head. The walkways are well-kept and wind through some beautiful scenery, offering a nice balance of open spaces and shaded paths. A great spot for a picnic, jog, nature walk, or to lay out and sun tan. They have a cute pond with turtles and a fountain in the middle. Nature trail walk area has all kinds of fun birds, lizards, bugs, etc.. i've seen a lizard every time i've gone you just gotta keep your eyes peeled. Would recommend. read more

Definitely one of my favorite Disc Golf courses in all of DFW. So much variety and so much opportunity for a wide variety of disc golf shots. Lots of hill action up and down. Wear good shoes! Some tunnel shots, a few right over the trees, big long fairways for bombers. If you disc golf on the regular, you will LOVE Veterans Park for sure! read more

I would say the best park you will find in the metroplex. I haven't visited all the parks, but of the one's I have - this is by far my favorite!!! This is definitely hidden, I was lost one day wondering around and bumped into it and I have been going every since. Running is definitely not at the top of my list BUT it is a must. How wonderful to do it in such a welcoming atmosphere. The ambiance : A mixture of soft trails and concrete paths help with running (good for the knees) There is a sizable disc golf / frisbee golf area (on the path) A beautiful duck pond (ducks and turtles) - so peaceful (good for reading area or feeding ducks) Very nice War memorial and sculptures (great photo op) Playground (if you bring kids) Restrooms Lots of space (for picnics) Large, wide / open area (for concerts when things go back to normal) Water throughout Issues : Although I enjoy this park, I must be honest (park is not secure - there is no security on-site) I am always worried when using the restroom (definitely wouldn't send kids alone to the restroom) As a woman, I don't stay past dark (trail leads into some woodsy parts - be cautious) I always see people in the parking lot in their cars (lock your doors, hide your valuables) The area surrounding the park is residential. There are apartments across the street. Keep that in mind when looking for this park. read more

Out of the local trails and parks to remain active at during the COVID situation, this one has been my favorite. The incline is fantastic and not too much muddy area (due to the consistent off and on rain) yet just the right amount of dirt, wooden deck, stepping stones, and gravel for a decent and energetic jog throughout the beautiful area. A few resting and shaded areas to sit and enjoy the nature. Beautiful wooden made glossy benches give it the extra secluded resting view.... I simply put on my beats pro wireless headphones and get lost in my music all while counting my 6000+ daily steps. Being around such beauty is a reminder that God has blessed us with the outdoors while enjoying gorgeous weather. read more

I live right down the street from this park and I had no idea it was there! Man was I missing out!! I loved everything about his park, it was so beautiful, the trails are amazing and the pond is a plus as well! They also have a play area for the kiddos, picnic tables to eat at and a public restroom. Just amazing, a great place to take photos as well! read more

What a beautiful park! it so clean and plenty of room to walk around nature. There's couple duck and goose ponds, a playground for kids, huge grassy area for family picnic, there's a frisbee golf courses. I don't know how many net/basket/pole they have on those course, but I saw a lot of veterans play at the park. I love this park! Its huge with a lot of stuff to see. Nice wild flowers, a pretty pond, an overlook on top of the hill. This is a nice area to take your family or even walk your dog. There are many trails and you do not feel too packed together with other people around. There is always lots of parking and many benches to sit on. read more

Veteran's Park, or "The V", is by far one of my favorite places in the metroplex for many reasons. It is a melting pot of everything and everyone. This is the first disc golf course my now-husband took me to. We've been playing there together for a little over four years now (him for many more). The course is amazing, challenging, a decent hike, and overall beautiful. It is well maintained by the local club and players from all around. The city also comes by regularly to take care of the park, and their employees seem to love what they do. If you're ever there for any reason, you'll more than likely see people taking some sort of pictures whether it's for their wedding/engagement, family, or graduation pics. Seriously. Every weekend. Okay, yeah, we had our engagement photos done there also. And they turned out awesome even though we did them on a dreary day in February. I digress. Apart from disc golf and photos, I've also been to a bachelorette picnic out there. There are many family/birthday parties and also various groups and teams that meet out there. On a different note, I think Veteran's Park really lives up to its name. There is a memorial near one entrance for our veterans. And I do believe seeing and meeting so many different types of people there is exactly what it was meant to be. We will definitely keep going there as long as we live in DFW. read more

Very nice park! Lots of space and lots of space to have outdoor events. I was there for a composting class held by the city of Arlington. The class was held in the wildlife area, but if you put it in GPS it takes you to the park's main entrance. The problem however, is that there is not much signage directing you to that area. Luckily there were people around I could ask, but it was a bit intimidating. I watch a TON of Criminal Minds and if you do too, you know a woman walking alone in the woods is a HELL TO THE NAH! I love that the park uses the compost soil for its plants and wildlife. The accept scraps for their composts as well if you are unable to have a compost pile of your own (you'll want to do research on what can and cannot be composted and potentially reach out to the city of Arlington about this as well). read more

It's hard to believe this park is surrounded by the city. The trails at the back of the park seem to be out in the middle of nowhere. The trails are good for walking, running, and riding bikes. There are a few hilly areas that you can't see from the front half of the park. This is a great location for exercise, picnics, and disc golf. There are areas with a lot of broken glass everywhere (off the trail). That's really the lone eyesore here. read more

Great area park. You can play frisbee golf, hike the trails, look out over a pond, take the kids to the play ground or enjoy a nice picnic at one of their pavilions. We enjoy taking our dog through the trails. They have a "paved" trail and an "off road" trail. There is enough open space to do pretty much anything you want. Nice gardens to walk through or take your horse out for a ride on the trails. read more

Such a pretty park...and that we can play disc here too is awesome! Whether you want to walk the trails, have a picnic, or play some disc this park has it all. I absolutely love coming here every time! It does get a bit crowded though and a few of the holes will gobble up your disc...in both courses. But overall I think it's a great park that you'll regret not coming to at least once. There's a gorgeous cabana floral area that's to die for in the Spring! We drive all the way from Addison to come here...TOTALLY worth it! read more

Very nice park and a great memorial. It was a beautiful day and the trails are really nice with a nice lake.

Hidden gem. My girlfriend and I were looking to take our dog our for a walk. There didn't appear to be many options so we came by. One reason for the 4 star is that parking isn't great. We got lucky with a spot but they are limited. Also the dog poop bags were no where to be found but lucky for us she didn't do any business. Other than those two cons, this place was nice. Lots of people playing disc golf, ultimate frisbee and running. Trail is about 1.5 miles give or take (there weren't any obvious markers so I'm guessing.) The park seemed well groomed and taken care of. Could use a few more water fountains also. But overall just what you would expect from a park. read more
