Each bridge has clear street signs and access points with stairs or exits, so you can hop on or off wherever you need. There are also location markers along the trail, (for emergency purposes )which is great for safety in such a large park. Playgrounds are scattered throughout, and there is even a basketball court tucked under a bridge with really cool graffiti that gives it some personality. The park is clean. Like noticeably clean. Restrooms are mostly portable, but many are enclosed in small structures so they blend in better and are not an eyesore. And yes, they were clean. You will find kayaking launch areas, fishing spots, picnic tables, and benches everywhere. There is plenty of space to spread out without feeling isolated. It is not overcrowded, but you are not alone either. The crowd felt easygoing, and cyclists were respectful. I felt completely safe the entire time. There are multiple paths to switch things up, plus a few shorter gravel routes if you want a change of pace. I even spotted e bike stations along the way. Honestly, this park sits right in the heart of Fort Worth and makes it feel like you do not even need a car in this part of DFW. One of the best runs I have had in a while.

Before the pandemic, this place was a true hidden gem but it has become more crowded since then, even with the world's tiniest and easily missed parking lot acting as population control. This trip, we drove a different way to get to the waterpark and happened to pass this playground. OMG! Up until now, the Raleigh (NC) playground has been the most EPIC playground we have been to but we think that this one might have just taken FIRST PLACE!! We were absolutely blown away by the sheer size of this playground! There was so much to do!! The play areas were clustered into different types. There was one for little little ones, another for toddlers, other ones for more adventurous kiddos, etc. Some of the climbing structures were quite high. I went up one and admit as an adult was a bit scared being so high. The other concern I had was with some of the "parallel" bar type climbing things... I thought they looked "dangerous" and indeed, one of our kids fell from maybe 10-12 feet and had the wind knocked out of her. She wasn't hurt hurt but it sure scared her (and me.) I loved that the ground cover was either rubberized mats OR turf. The various drinking fountains scattered throughout helped with keeping us hydrated and cooled us off. The one "negative" is actually due to the sheer size of this place. While I was watching one of my kids, the other went to a different play area and my heart stopped for a bit while I searched for her. She was safe but my mind went to a dark place when I couldn't find her right away. This playground does have restrooms! They weren't in the cleanest condition but it was nice to have them. Prepare yourself in advance for the COLD metal seats. Shockingly icey on a hot summer's day. Again, this is such an amazing playground and I am 100% jealous we don't have anything like this in Houston.

My then-7 y/o son was able to climb 8 feet up a structure for its intended use and jump off "on a dare" by other kids and ended up in the ER. I've also assisted with autistic children that elope and get separated due to the multiple exits. There are also multiple places to have a party, first come first served. This also makes things extra crowded. I haven't been there in a while since the heat, but I am hoping they will maintain a good-sized field because independent play (soccer, football, kite flying, etc.) are just as important as playground structures.

I will just give you the CliffNotes version in that the park is very clean - perfect for running/jogging, walking, and sitting around to enjoy the outdoors. Here's the new impression about how kid friendly it is. First off, I love their splash pad. The best part of it is it's free! We tend to go on cooler/cloudy days when the summer sun is not beating down on us. They have benches and tables for families to sit around the splash pad. You can't bring your pets or food to the area. After a lot of running and laughing, my son's eyes do get a little red from the chlorine, so wear glasses or goggles if you want to avoid this. Right next to the splash pad is the playground. I'm so glad that it is covered, so we can go when it's sunny outside, but not too hot. The playground is a good place for the kiddo to either warm up or cool down before the splash pad. I would say the splash pad is such a fun distraction that my son spends the majority of his time at the splash pad and the playground is just a second thought. It's never super crowded even on the weekends. Perfect amount of kids playing around. There's a nice private parking lot right next to the splash pad. I'll be back with the family again and again.

What it lacks in parking (you have to park on the side of the street), it makes up for in charm and serenity. This park is settled in a nice quiet part of the Oakhurst area, surrounded by very well landscaped homes, and is considered a gem to the community surrounding it (local events are sometimes held here, see URL attached). If you have small children, I encourage you to spend a nice afternoon there and have a picnic (charcoal grills and picnic tables are also available). Or if you picked up a sandwich from White Eagle Deli, I couldn't think of a more perfect spot to enjoy your lunch outside.
