I paid to have a new fence installed back in 2016. As of August 2017 I haven't seen or heard from anyone at this "company" in months. They won't answer their phone or return my calls, so obviously they never gave my money back. Make note of any positive or 5/5 review they - they are all probably fake. I have already seen friends/family leave them 5-star reviews to try and fool people into thinking they are legitimate. They've already been reported to the BBB several times (another way to figure out the 5/5 reviews are fake is just to take a look at their F rating on the BBB), and have even been reported to the local news media in the St. Louis area for ripping off customers. read more

Not closed, they go by VTF Services now to avoid their bad reputatio. Subpar material used. Leftover material left out in yard for my dogs to get. Gaps left in side of the fence. Was told after the fact that I should have had a wooden fence if I didn't want 6" gaps in spots under the fence. Found them on porch.com going by VTF, I guess to avoid their F rating with the BBB. I work with a rescue group and foster dogs. The fence was solely to keep my dogs in and safe, and it failed spectacular at it. Members from the rescue group came over with material and spent an entire day reinforcing the fence. Do not use this business. read more

I hired Mike, the owner, and his crew spring of 2015 to replace an old wooden fence and replace it with a vinyl privacy fence. I went with them because they bid below the 5 others I received. You get what you pay for. They didn't start work until about June and while it did rain a lot that summer, a job that should have taken a week took 2 months. I was told constantly that he was having issues keeping employees and couldn't find qualified guys. The install of the fence made that quite apparent. Because of this much of the old fencing that they pulled and the new fencing that was sitting on pallets killed large patches of my grass. Areas of the new fence had to be fixed just weeks after it was put up because it would lean or the gates wouldn't close properly. His guys had come out 2 times within the 1st year because portions of the fence had just come apart or the wind had blown panels out.(All my neighbors much older fences remained intact so it wasn't an act of god issue) For the last 6 months I have been trying to get in contact with Mike because I have another 20ft section that has been leaning and I need it corrected but he hasn't replied to any of my requests. So I now have a new fence that will probably not last another 3 years unless I now go to another company to fix his fence. The install and the service during and after the install are not worth the low cost. The only positive is that the actual quality of the fence appears to be good and, once installed properly, should last many years. I hired Veteran's Tree & Fence (Michael Reed) in August 2015 to remove and replace my fence. At that time, I was told that there was about a three week backlog to work before getting to my job. After some stonewalling, several requests, and a great deal of patience, in early November a crew was sent out to take down the old fence. This was partially done as some of the posts were broken off at ground level, with the original concrete still in the ground. The fence and the posts were left laying in the yard for months. Eventually, Michael promised that someone would come and remove the old fence; someone came and removed the fence sections, promising to come back the next day for the posts. It's May 2016; the old fence posts are still in my back yard, and I still have no fence. I have asked for my money back several times, but received no response. There is virtually no communication possible with Michael. No one answers either of the two telephone numbers, and he never returns telephone calls, texts, or email. Many times you cannot even leave a voice mail as the system memory for both telephone lines is full. Veteran's Tree & Fence is just like many experiences you see on the TV news where contractors are hired, given money up front, and you never hear from them again. No one should hire this contractor and make the same mistake I did. read more

Initially, I was won over by Mike's sales pitch. He explained he offered great service and after service. Anytime you need anything just call me and I'll be glad to help. He even said there would be sagging. He never fixed the first problem with sagging I had to engineer something to correct the sagging on a double gate. Followed by a post that was more than 4 inches warped on a single gate making the locking mechanism barely work. Without locks the gate would blow open with a stiff breeze. The gate was installed over a course of 4 weeks in July/Aug '14. (WOOD AND CHAINLINK). The workers came back to correct post issues right away. In Nov '14 I notified Mike and he was going to get someone to look at it. Again in January he came by personally and said he would get on it right away. Now in March '15 He will not return calls, texts, etc. He has completely ignored the requests. Funny thing is we were going to hire his crew to stain the deck…obviously will not happen now. I would urge buyers to beware. While he will give you a good quote in the beginning the aftercare is NOT there in many cases and Mike seems to be all talk and no follow through based on my experience. Originally, on other sites I rated him highly. Lets say I will be updating those sites as well. Regretfully, I have to report that I paid Michael Reed a down payment for a fence. His people gave me a business card and then went immediately to my bank to cash the check -- instead of putting it into a business account. I am very disappointed. It has been three months.
