Unfortunately I have to go here many times! Just 3 days ago, my little dog got bit by a Pygmy Rattlesnake! They are always so polite and work as hard as they can to help every animal that comes in. Service is based on severity of an animals condition, same as a human hospital. Some people get so mad because they have to wait, sometimes for hours. But take a minute to think about it. If you have a pet that was hit by a car and needed immediate medical attention, would YOU want to wait until it was your turn! While watching them help another animal that maybe had a broken leg. I GET IT, as an avid pet owner who loves her dogs, no one wants them to be in pain! I have gone there with a life emergency and was seen right away with surgery required. Other times I have had to wait for hours. I am good with it either way! Folks complain about the cost, yep, it's expensive but again, how much does it cost to go to the emergency room for humans? Plus, most of the people that work here also work at regular vet locations. Do I recommend them? You bet I do!! read more

Due to his heavy bleeding I wait in my car receptionist has my number and will call me when vet is ready for Rex. At 2pm I walk in I am fearing for my boys life. Absolutely Horrifying Experience -- I Will Never Return I am still shaken and heartbroken by what happened at this clinic. When my cat suddenly became unwell, I didn't hesitate--I literally ran out of my house, slippers and panicked, to the emergency vet around the corner. I didn't stop to grab my phone, my wallet, or anything else. I just wanted to save my cat. Once there, they took him to the back and quickly came up with a long, expensive list of tests they claimed he needed. I was overwhelmed, scared, and doing my best to get him the help he needed. I offered to put $500 down immediately on CareCredit and leave my license while I ran home to grab my phone so I could increase my limit and pay more. What followed was cruel and confusing. They refused to let me leave the building without taking my cat with me, even after I offered to leave collateral and payment. They treated me like a criminal, making snide, condescending remarks like, "Oh, you're willing to leave $500 on CareCredit?"--as if that wasn't real money. I even asked, "Is that not money?" and they just looked at me with judgment and disbelief. Then, out of nowhere, they started saying my cat "needed oxygen"-- and how could I take an oxygen dependent cat! It felt manipulative, like they were trying to guilt or scare me into staying. I told them I was taking him to BluePearl in Sarasota where they actually know what they're doing, and that's exactly what I did. When I arrived at BluePearl, their team ran out asking, "Is this the cat that needs oxygen?"--only to quickly realize he didn't need oxygen at all. He was stable and breathing fine. Then they told me something that left me stunned: The first clinic had called ahead to "warn them" about me. Confused, I explained what happened & They said something about people abusing CareCredit and charging things back--which I have NEVER done. Ever. Thankfully Blue Pearl does not operate this way. How dare they imply I would abandon my cat or try to get out of paying. I have been to that clinic before and paid in full. I would never, under any circumstance, leave my pet behind. Their assumptions and treatment of me were not only wrong, but deeply offensive. In the end, BluePearl examined him, ran one simple test, and found exactly what was wrong--the right diagnosis within minutes. Not a single test the first clinic suggested would have identified the problem. They would've put me through thousands of dollars in unnecessary tests, and my cat still would've been suffering. It was sheer lack of experience, & incompetence masked as urgency and upselling. I'm disgusted by how I was treated and horrified by the lack of compassion or professionalism. They are undertrained, overconfident, and have zero respect for the people and animals walking through their doors. I left feeling humiliated, gaslit, and betrayed by people who are supposed to care. After all this I did receive a bill in the mail from them for $200, which would be the price for them to write a list of useless tests because thats all they did. Do not trust them with your animal's life. Experience matters, and this place has none. read more

The veterinarians and vet technicians are great. They are caring and don't mind answering all our questions about our cat. They are sooooooooo busy. Our cat arrived at 10am and wasn't seen until around 4pm. They didn't see us because there were animals that were in more urgent situations. If you bring your animal here, just know that they will do their best but you might have to wait. I am so thankful for everyone here. Dr Murray was exceptional, she was compassionate and understanding. Leaving your cat at the emergency vet is very hard to do, but I knew that he would be in good hands and taken care of. Dr. Murray called after the procedure to let me know that he was okay, and I received frequent calls letting me know how his recovery was going. They treated her and I was back at our rental home by 4am. She was able to sleep and I am so glad I took her in. We brought our 8-year-old German Shepard, Amber in on Sunday, Thanksgiving weekend, as she seemed to want to lay around more and her abdomen seemed to be swelling some. The staff took Amber back right away and ran tests before coming to us to explain everything thoroughly and they took the time to listen to our concerns. Amber, sadly had to be euthanized but the staff made the worst outcome possible, less painful. The staff was so patient and kind with a large family saying their goodbyes. They even brought some yummy snacks into the room so Amber could enjoy one last treat! Dr. Tracy Moran, and the entire staff went above and beyond for Amber and our family. We had to take our large dog unexpectedly in the middle of the night. She took ill very suddenly and when we arrived it was obvious even to us she was actively dying. They rushed her in on a gurney and asked if we wanted them to try and save her. She was older and we said no, we just couldn't stand to see her suffering. They acted quickly and professionally and got an IV started and eased her pain. They let us stay right there as they worked, explaining everything they were doing. They gave us as much time as we needed with her to love on her one last time. Both techs and the vet were so compassionate and comforting. They gave us some of her hair to keep in a vial. It was not the ending we wanted, but we couldn't have asked for kinder people to help her over the rainbow bridge. read more

We took our dog in because he was obviously sick and dieing and without paying $4000.00 up front they wouldn't do anything to help and told us to take him home and watch him die or surrender him to animal control and they would help him but you won't be able to find out if he made it or not. After 3 days of crying and no sleep and my daughter missing school because of losing her dog. I was finally able to talk to one of the techs and demand to know what happened to him and they finally told us he passed away shortly after we left him there. If you love your pets as much as we do, take them somewhere else. If I could give less than one star I would have! No compassion was shown to my family when making the super difficult decision to put our dog down. It was a difficult and horrible decision to make, made worse by the staff that acted as if we were monsters... If our normal veterinarian office would have been opened we would have been there! After the incident I checked in with our dog's normal doctor, and was told we absolutely made the right decision. And that the Veterinarian Emergency clinic was playing with our emotions to pay the $5200+. Our regular vet informed me that our dog would have not come back from the situation she was in, and would have been put through so much pain! She also would have felt abandoned by us in her time of need over the weekend! The staff was just out to make money, torture our dog, and play with our emotions! Ms. Rivers (veterinarian on duty), please work on your humanity and compassion that you might show future families in similar situations. Saying that you see something all the time, when we found out it only effects 1 in 500 dogs. This is wrong, and put our family through additional trauma. Shame on You! read more

I brought my shih tzu Precious in who might have had a stroke. I was totally honest with them and explained to them I would have to pay them on the 1st. As I was a 100 % disable veteran and that is when I received my disability check from the U.S. Marines. Rather then accept this and care for the dog they refused treatment. My fur baby was seen on an emergency basis and with not being able to go in due to Covid regulations I still felt comfortable and confident with their care. My bully was rushed here from a heat stroke on a pet sitters watch. I cannot thank the all the Doctors, esp Dr. Rivers and staff enough! They took very good care of our baby while he was there over the weekend. Absolutely recommend this wonderful clinic. We are snowbirds and took our elderly lab to VEC when he found a corn cob on the ground during a walk and quickly ate it, upsetting his stomach. Dr. Ramsdell and her staff could not have been more thorough or more kind. X-rays were taken and sent to a radiologist, fortunately showing nothing serious. But the doctor also noticed the signs of a completely unrelated and potentially serious condition. She took a lot of time explaining that condition to me and giving me resources to use going forward. I definitely will follow up with our veterinarian when we go back to Michigan for the summer. The staff at Veterinary Emergency Clinic made us feel welcome, even despite having to meet us outside due to COVID-19. Most importantly, we felt sure our precious dog was in really good hands and being well cared for while we waited in our car receiving telephone updates.
