    Vets in Practice Animal Hospital
    Joey R.

Vets In Practice Animal Hospital is the only place I will bring my dogs (actually, my furbabies) when they are not feeling well and need a check up. We were recommended to go here by a friend when our dogs had major problems. The first time we went there our Dachshund, Bugoy, was vomiting and in pain. They were the only hospital that was open for 24hours. So, we immediately went there. The staff was very accommodating and pleasant the whole time. You could feel how concerned they were with the well-being of my dog. To make a long story short, Bugoy was diagnosed with kidney failure, stage 4 :'( It was a very tough time for us. But, our doctor and the staff were there, 24/7. When the day came for Bugoy to go, they were with us too. The second time, which was a more critical situation, was when Snowball had to have gall bladder taken out. She was operated on last year and it was scary because we thought we were going to lose her :( Once her condition got worse, Dr. Nielsen Donato, their Chief Surgeon, attended to her. He was honest with me and said that her surgery would not be easy but that I had nothing to worry about. After a successful surgery, Snowball is now super healthy and "youthful" again! :) It is not easy to find an Animal Hospital/Clinic in Manila who you can give your full trust to in terms of caring for your pets. Seriously, they have my FULL trust! For professional service and the best animal care, please bring your furbabies here!

I received a response that my inquiries were already forwarded to the nurse station. After a few hours, haven't heard anything from them so I decided to call. They just dropped my call. Chatted them to say thank you and no need to update me. They didn't bother to provide any update and sarcastically "heart reacted" my chat. Ang bastos.

However, most of them are not 24 hours and close pretty early. The time I went here, it was because Carlo's cats needed to have a check-up because they were visibly uncomfy and we didn't know what to do. :( They have well-skilled doctors and staff. They are patient in explaining the situation and treatment for your furbaby. You can also see they are really concerned with the well-being of your furbaby (which is a quality I highly appreciate in a veterinarian). With Carlo's cats, our doctor found that it was because of something they ate and also that they were not drinking water. So, they were dehydrated. The diagnosis was a big relief for the both of us! Apart from being a clinic/hospital, they also do grooming and boarding. Yes, they have a "Pet Hotel." Though, I think the lodging is a bit expensive for the accommodation your furbaby will get. Honestly, Animal House is more expensive than the other clinics I have gone to. But, they do provide good "pet" service and care. That is hard to find in Makati.

Yes, it may seem weird but we usually give gifts to our pets since they are part of the family. One of my favorite stores to buy from is Bow & Wow. They have really high-quality items for all types of furry friends. Whether you are looking for doggie beds, cat houses, scratching posts, clothes, chew toys and even gourmet food, you can find it all here. What I usually get from this store are the grooming products that are more difficult to find in pet stores like nail cutters, nail files, doggie toothbrush and toothpaste and the like. Oh and if you have champion breed dogs that require a special diet for dog shows, this is where you can get organic food that can keep their fur all nice and shiny.

My friend, Ava and her cat, Bubu, accompanied me to Bow and Wow last Wednesday. Ava pointed out the different food I should be getting for my cat and what the food does for the cat. I can still hear her telling me, "If you want the cat to be lean, get this. But if you want that cat to be cute and fat, get this other one." The don't just have food, they also have toys for the cat. Different toys! I felt like I was buying toys for a baby! After looking at the toys for some time, Ava showed me the grooming stuff for the cats. I never thought that I had to spray them just so they smell good and so that the flees won't get to them. I'm going back to this store today to buy lots of food for my cat and some more toys for it also. I'm hoping the items will be worth it as it is pretty pricey here.

Since they've been given the same medications, including steroid, for years, I'm really doubtful, especially since they've combined steroid with antibiotics, yet they claim there is no other treatment. Each time I went there, a different veterinarian treated us, and each of them had a different diagnosis. It's just so unfortunate that my schedule doesn't coincide with the hours of operation of any other vet clinic, as theirs is the only one operating around-the-clock. We've been visiting curapet every two weeks for the past year, and they've simply increased the dosage and added additional medications. A week after celebrating her second birthday, my pup passed away!!! Not due to d, but liver failure!! And the previous veterinarian who treated her speculated that it may be due to the antibiotic and steroid administered. They are absolutely messed up! A bunch of non-pros!!!

You would think that he would be arrogant since he is a TV celebrity, but he is NOT. I definitely saw how much he loves and cares for animals. He was able to carry my niece's pomeranian (Pepper) that normally barks and dislikes having strangers carrying him. I very seldom have the opportunity of carrying Pepper. While Dr. Donato was carrying Pepper, he showed me all of Pepper's allergic reaction locations. He gave me information regarding the causes of the hyperpigmentation. He then proceeded to show me a website that that had an image of Pepper's diagnosis. Dr. Donato also carried my niece's toy poodle (Nacho). I was worried because Nacho was constantly scratching himself, whenever he wasn't walking around. He would scratch himself to sleep, and then wake up scratching. Since the scratching started when the dog food was changed, Dr. Donato suggested to change both Pepper and Nacho's dog food to a no grain salmon dog food. He walked with us to their reception area which had numerous dog food and treat options. He recommended three different brands, but he also told us what he would choose for the pets. Of course, we chose the one that he would choose. We then walked back to the office to continue the consultation. I have had numerous pets and have gone to a few veterinary clinics. Once I find a good veterinarian, I continue using the same one. My niece has 3 Pomeranians from a local breeder, and 2 Pomeranians from Korea. Nacho is her only toy poodle that is from Korea. She has a veterinarian that does house calls. They go to Vets in Practice for a second opinion and their clinic's services. I would highly recommend Dr. Donato at Vets in Practice located at The Fort.
