Good place to go have a few on Friday evening with the VETS! Good stories and cheap beer can't beat that.

I haven't been here in quite a while, but I wanted to give them a shout out and say what I know…read moreabout them. I cannot do them justice since they have many programs here to help members of our community that I haven't worked with. I have volunteered here a few times when I was a student through UW-Milwaukee. I helped bag groceries to be handed out to members of the community who needed help. They work very hard to create a balanced bag nutritionally each time such as protein, breakfast items, meat/ eggs, fruits/ veg, dessert (if they have any), soup, pasta/ rice, and a few other types of items I'm forgetting. When they have fresh fruits and vegetables they place them out for people to pick from. They also let people pick out bread items. The number of bags people receive depends on family size. They also have baby food items for those who need them. I also organized personal cleaning supplies (keep the good stuff, throw out the bad/ expired, put out the smaller stuff for people to pick out for free when they came to pick up food, etc). I thought this was really nice of them to have available, many people looked through the baskets once I started filling them. The staff is very kind to those who come in needing assistance and try to help. The area I worked in was basic but clean. They treat the community members that need help with respect (I've seen orgs where they don't treat people very well, this is not one of those orgs!). Great place to help the local community and for people to receive assistance. I've only scratched the surface as to what this nonprofit does for the community, check out their website. Time/ money/ personal donations brought here are not wasted!

If your gonna work in a place like that how dare you walk around high and mighty and treat the people needing help like their less than. They should definitely be ashamed of themselves.

They pick and choose who the rules apply too, they give certain clients chance after chance while sticking to the book with others. The treatment by caseworkers is totally unfair and biased. Some clients have followed every rule to a tee while other clients constantly break rules daily yet see no consequence. Staff members have lied numerous times on clients which has caused them to be exited early simply off false statements. Clients were allowed to come back after attacking their spouse and destroying their property, also an adult client was allowed to stay after verbally and almost physically attacking a child and yet clients have been exited off pure lies and hearsay. It's clients that are visibly high/drunk daily yet staff allows them to come and go as they please consequence free. The staff overall is just rude all around and feel as if they are above certain clients because of the position they're at in life and it's just unacceptable. My stay there was by far the absolute worst experience I've ever had in my life.

My insurance is included in my mortgage payments, and Habitat is responsible for making that payment. They did not. By the time I received the notice, the insurance co. was closed for the holidays. Cheryl, the woman responsible for making the payment, laughed it off, saying she would make the payment on January 2nd, leaving me without insurance for my home or it's contents for a week! Should something happen, my family would be left with no way to rebuild or replace my homes contents. I would like to add that I have been in this home for nine years now, and never have I been late on a mortgage payment. My payment is paid in full, every month, without fail. When I first signed the papers on my home, nine years ago, I was also told there was a nice storage shed on the property, which was included. They ended up tearing it down, first telling me they would replace it because I was promised the shed. That never happened. This organization makes lots of promises they fail to keep. I do not know how other habitat for humanity orgs do their business, but I would definatly tell anyone that Waushara County's Habitat is NOT trustworthy and should be the last resort.
