I purchased a few items because of so many super cute options (it was so hard to choose!) and with the help of a yelp coupon, I couldn't help but splurge a little bit. The first couple projects we completed were the string art kits. The curbside pickup was seamless and the staff was super friendly! I got home to find the wrong color board but the issue was addressed promptly and Revel went above and beyond to make sure their customers were happy! Picking up a new board couldn't have been easier. Also, when I was at the end of my project and about 15 nails short, they were gracious enough to mail them out to me so I didn't have to drive from Milwaukee to Madison. The customer service here is phenomenal and really made me feel like they cared about their customers. I will be the first to say that I'm not a crafty person but the "Love" design was one I was willing to put forth the effort for and I'm so glad I did. Hammering all those little nails took a little more time than I expected and I'm glad this was a project for home so I could work on it as time allowed. Our next project is the etched coasters and can't wait to see how those turn out. I look forward to being able to visit Revel during "normal" times and take advantage of their workshops and events. I went to Revel for my friends Bachelorette party last year and had the best time!! We got to choose a craft to make with our group. Each person could choose their own crafts and get the supplies they'd like. They have several different thinks to choose from including a decorative tray, a beer carrier, a picture, glitter art, jewelry, etc. They also have a glitter and sequin bar, a yarn bar, and construction paper area to choose your decorations from. They have a bar area to order drinks or snacks from. You are also able to bring your own food in to snack on. There are instructors there to help you if you want any assistance with any craft. This is a review for the virtual crafting workshop that Revel hosted with Yelp. I'm not a big crafter, but I really enjoyed how Revel facilitated the event. I appreciated that they would took the time to wait for everyone to finish a step or even go over instructions again. The craft kit to etch your own coasters was high-quality and I love that it's so functional. They mentioned that they are renovating their space currently to accomodate more in-person small group craft events. They also spoke a bit about how they're adapting to the pandemic -- some of the changes they've made with virtual crafting workshops and on-the-go craft kits have been pretty innovative. Even though I'm not big on crafts, this is definitely something I'd be open to doing with friends as a way to socialize and create something. read more

This was my first time here and I had nothing but a good time! The staff was friendly, the ambiance makes you want to stay all day and the fact that they have food and drinks makes that very much a reality. My friend and I made Gilded Agate coasters. This craft could have been fine in 30mins but we slowed it down and took a little over an hour to connect and talk while creating the coasters. It's a great spot for date night, Bachelorette parties, or catching up with friends. The space can be loud or quiet and the music is eclectic to match all ear interests. I'm definitely a fan! I had a great time on my first visit and left with a really fun piece of art (an adorable ice cream cone string art). They make crafting really accessible. Creating things can be really intimidating because it's hard to pick a project and then go out and buy everything you need to execute the project. They do the hard parts for you. First of all, they let you drink fancy cocktails while you craft. They also provide you with the ideas, have all the supplies ready, and clean up for you. I love this place--how it looks, the idea behind it, the people that work here and so much more. I first discovered it by parking right in front of it and seeing their sign outside that said "craft bar". I knew it was right up my alley--the workers were so welcoming and just made everything feel so relaxed and comfortable. They may have some special craft during the week and then a book that has their regular crafts as well. I did the string art--all the materials came in a box for me with instructions. I had the freedom to choose how much string and what colors I wanted. I came back to make a present for my cousin's golden 29th birthday--they had DIY beer holders (they held a 6 pack of beer). We came a bit on the later side that evening and ended up not finishing before closing. But the person working was so kind and patient--she helped us so much and didn't show any impatience at all. Basically Revel is a space to do crafting projects (pay per whatever project you wish to create). You can choose from a menu of projects, or attend a specific project class, and have as much time as you wish to unleash your creativity. My crafting skills are poor at best, but I was able to make a small project and enjoy myself. Although the staff does interact with customers, customers work independently rather than following an exact set of instructions or guidance from staff. Adults and children are welcome, although Revel is mostly oriented at adults--any children should be closely supervised as there are tools like hot glue guns. Overall, I'm not really into crafting so Revel doesn't have huge appeal to me, but I enjoy the fact that it's something new and different than the other eating and drinking activities in downtown Madison. I think people who like Pinterest crafts would love this place. read more

I attended the virtual coaster crafting event with Revel and Yelp, which was my first intro to Revel. I don't get much time to craft, so it was like a relaxing little brain massage to get all the pieces together and have a finished product that I could be proud of. Sarah has a really sweet energy and I felt comfortable doing the coaster activity, even with her troubleshooting virtually. The way that the craft kit was packaged seems to give a good peek at what Revel is about: fun, bright, and party-ready energy (the confetti popper!) which is always something I can get behind. read more

This is a little interesting for me to review because I do NOT enjoy crafts... at all! I came here last night with a group of friends for a friend's birthday night out. I wanted to hang out, but didn't want to pay to do something that I don't enjoy. The women working were TOTALLY cool about me just hanging out and watching, and better yet, there is a very adorable bar for snacks and drinks. The drink list was fantastic with many creative mixed drinks, and also wine and beer. There were even some fun non-alcoholic options which was great. The whole space was laid out so cute and also very functional for people to go back and forth for supplies. The supply area was clean and well stocked. The employees were GREAT! They were always available when people had questions about the art or needed a drink refill. Now for the crafts themselves. There were many options for all different types of crafters and skill levels. I even considered making the rock magnets, but I don't really have a use for them and they were a bit pricey considering they were just rocks that you paint and stick magnets to. I thought all the crafts seemed a little pricey. You could go to a craft store and get these supplies for much cheaper. That being said, you are paying for the fun experience and social setting. There has to be an up charge to maintain this cute atmosphere and pay the awesome employees. So the price didn't bother me much.. if I enjoyed doing crafts I'd have no problem with the cost. So despite this not being my thing, I had a fun time and I love the idea of a place like this in Madison. It's a very nice alternative to just going to a noisy bar. You can drink, craft and socialize with your friends. I even saw a couple on a date here. What a cute alternative to a basic dinner and a movie date night. Keep up the good work, Revel! read more

One of the best places in Madison! It's a super fun environment, with something for literally everyone. I pick a different craft each time I go and I haven't been disappointed yet. The drinks are yummy and I love the variety they have - from La Croix to cocktails, you can drink what you want. Something that's also nice about this place are the people who run it - such a nice environment and you always feel valued every time you return. Came here with friends for a birthday party, and this is the perfect spot for a bunch of crafty people to get together. The owners were great. Because we were a big party, we made reservations, and they put together several tables for us, decorated it with a little confetti, and greeted the birthday girl with a pink apron and tiara when we arrived. They have a "craft menu" where each person gets to choose the craft they'd like to do. Then the staff brings out the basic supplies for your particular craft along with instructions, and you help yourself to the more decorative supplies like glitter, paint, or colored string. Crafts start at $12, and can take anywhere between 45 minutes to however long you want to spend crafting you own special piece. I think we easily spent 2.5 hours there. They also have cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks to keep you hydrated. The best part is NO CLEAN UP. They will take care of it for you! The space is well lit despite being in a basement, and they have an inspiration wall so you can see some of the possible crafts already made along with books to help you craft your own unique vision. I chose to make the string art. And I have to admit that halfway through, it felt like a mistake to have chosen this craft. I was tired of hammering nails in and I wanted to be done and just drinking cocktails! But it turned out beautifully and I got lots of compliments. read more

I love that they offer classes but I also love that you can pop in, relax at their little bar, and do one of their make-and-take projects! Such a fun way to spend an evening with friends or co-workers. The tassel necklace or leather cord organizers are lovely little projects for yourself or to make and give as gifts. Revel also has a menu of tasty snacks (gourmet pretzels sticks, popcorn, etc) to go along with their craft cocktails. Revel has been added to my list of "happy places". I was here for the 1st time today for their Spring Cleaning event. I found a cute salsa bowl and enjoyed a cocktail and good conversation. The bartender and other employees were all very friendly and welcoming. They offer several walk-in crafts... you pick from a craft "menu" and start creating! They also host many events and tutorials - The iPhone photography class has caught my eye and I plan to attend in the near future! I hosted a bridal shower here at Revel and wow, what a cute place! Revel has a very kate spade/ kendra scott feel and I loved it. It really was the perfect spot for our shower! I am thrilled with how easy it was to reserve a table for the shower and staff communicated very well with me through email. Our guests had a great time and we got some very cute crafts going and pictures! We even had one kiddo come with and she had a blast as well so we were thrilled it could accommodate adults and children. Definitely a great place for catching up with someone, host a party, or to attend some of their special events/projects. It is a very casual atmosphere where you can drop in or reserve a spot, whichever you prefer! Staff was very nice and attentive! The bar had a lot of good choices as well. Cons: Unfortunately the projects are a bit on the pricier side as well as the drinks. Parking/finding the shop is a bit difficult as well if you are not as familiar with the area or inviting someone who isn't to come meet you. Overall an excellent experience. I didn't even get the chance to rate the place because my business was turned away. My 2 friends and I had traveled from out of town to explore Madison for the day. We made plans to visit Revel. We looked on the website a few days ahead of time to research how the place worked. A lot of statements encouraging"first come first serve" "walk-ins" and "drop-bys." It stated "reservations appreciated," but we only saw on their calendar that a bachelorette party had booked at 1:30pm. We arrived at 1:00pm when they opened and were asked if we had a reservation. We told the woman no and stated that we didn't think one was needed due to their website statements. She then continued to tell us that Saturdays are always busy and we should of made one because they are booked until 4:00pm. Upon leaving the woman followed us outside to put up a sidewalk sign that stated, "Drop-in DIY crafts." Nothing about reservations. We stared in bafflement that she would even put the sign up in front of us after turning us away when she clearly was booked for the day. Hmmmm sorry won't be bringing my business back or recommend the place after that shady act. read more
