I've been a customer using EMAIL only for well over 20 years. In the past couple of years something's changed and it's a constant pain in my ass. VIANET is LIMITING the size of emails I am sending OR RECEIVING and completely FREEZE my account so that I am unable to Send or Receive my emails. I am required to use VIANET TOOLS, log into my account and manually DELETE emails. It is extremely FRUSTRATING. For Vianet there's 2 things they do not appear to realize: (1) You're pissing your customers off to the point whereby I am going to start the process of using a different email account NOT WITH VIANET; and (2) It's a complete waste of their resources because every time I also have to phone Customer Service to figure out what the hell is going on. I don't recommend Vianet, due to too many outages. It was the only choice we had at the time for a rural property in Port Sydney (Muskoka), other than the Bell Hub with usage caps, and that was out with a teenager in the house who was gaming. Sometimes outages were for several hours to a day, and some lasted a week or more. Not convenient when you work from home. I was able to switch to Oxio and I now pay $39.00 per month and got the first month free using a friend's referral code. This high speed service is apparently not compatible with Apple devices. I only discovered this after paying Vianet the $4,000 connection fee. It works fine with my LG television but will not connect with my iPad or iPhone for more than 5 minutes each hour. After numerous enquiries, the company doesn't seem to be able to solve this problem but I suspect it has something to to with the Comtrend routers that they provide. At this point, the only remedy seems to be to do away with one's Apple devices and change them for Android ones, something I'm not prepared to do! You would think they'd advise their customers of this incompatibility before signing them up and charging the connection fee. Nope! Bottom line: I've had Vianet service for 2 months now and am highly dissatisfied. read more

I dont recommend the Fibre TV package. On the fourth modem now and have no service at all until Monday. No tech support in the field on weekends. Slways the same lame excuse. Stay away from them.We are going back to Eastlink where they support their services. read more

I certainly can't comment on their actual service, because I didn't even get beyond the initial phone call with a sales rep. I called on a weekend but got voice mail, I didn't bother to leave a message. Come Monday morning I get a call saying that they're returning my call. I thought that was odd and it took me a little bit to remember I even called them since I never left a message, but whatever. From then on, the sales rep was nothing but a condescending bitchy bitch. Something you DON'T want to be if you're in sales. I asked if their basic DSL service has a 'dry loop' fee (what some other ISP's charge if you don't have home phone service) and her response had me somewhat puzzled, then she went on about something called 'colo' and that's their own proprietary service. I get the feeling that she thought I should know all the different terms that Vianet uses when compared to other ISP's like Teksavvy or Start. Something I wouldn't know since I'm fairly new to the Sudbury region. After having a HORRIBLE first impression, I really can't say I'll ever be wiling to give these guys a shot. First impressions with me last forever, and Vianet, at least in my opinion, is fit, for the pit. (to reference Street Cents) read more

I live in a rural area and internet service was dial up only until I heard about Vianet in the spring of 2013 and engaged their services. Initially the service was better than the dial up I had used, however as more users were added to the cell tower the speed dropped substantially and resulted in frequent calls to technical services with downed or impossibly slow speeds. At the time of signing the contract I noted a $75 cancellation fee if I did not complete the contract - 2 years, I was advised if I kept the service for two years the fee would not apply. I worked at the relationship but finally in August 2019 I found it necessary to change providers and cancel the service. I have now been charged the $75 cancellation fee and despite my protestations that the fee was no longer valid as I had fulfilled over 6 years of service, they insist that the fee applies and I will be sent to collection services if I don't pay, thus no discussion. The contract states "There is a penalty for canceling wireless service prior to contract closing date. A $75. charge is applied to have someone retrieve your wireless equipment upon cancellation". The contract was for a 2 year period and I had been a customer for 6 years. A representative did pick up the wireless box and confirmed that it was now technologically useless and would be garbage, thus of no value to them. I will never do business with Vianet again as their contracts seem to be misleading and verbal representations are not adhered to. Their internet service was poor as well read more

Very difficult time getting past Patricia in Billing to get a Supervisor to deal with your issues they screwed up my annual payment their mistake and they cut my internet in an instance so they are good at service when it suits their needs. From South Porcupine: I have had or should I say would like to have reliable internet and phone service with Vianet / Eastlink for two months. It was OK for a short time at first and then became totally unreliable for the last month as I have been dropped intermittently during all times of the day. With my phone as part of this service it is a safety concern as I have no other means to contact an emergency service should I need it. I thought I was dealing with Vianet but I find to my chagrin that Eastlink is the actual provider and had I known this I would not have signed on as I have heard of poor service from Eastlink. I have experienced nothing but intermittent problems for the past month without resolution. Finally a service tech is to come sometime tomorrow morning. worst company ever, i will agree with the person above about the customer service lady being the worst i have ever come across very rude and talked over me. i paid extra on my bill and then a few days later had to move do to fire risk when informing them of the move, they couldn't provide me with the same internet and wanted to charge and extra $75 for new install. this i was ok with but i get a call saying i have a past due amount on my account -which i paid extra on and have a credit. they took my months payment from days before and applied it to the $75 fee which i hadn't even had a confirmation for installment. wtf never get this company they are the worst!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! rip off, poor quality of internet barely works and terrible customer service. read more

We have subscribed to Vianet services for some years now, first with Zing, the service was great. Since Vianet has taken over the speed is mostly horrible, up and down, inconsistent. Mostly worse when kids are home from school. We try to operate our business using Vianet, but find it frustrating, no options here, but if you have another option, take it. read more

I've been with ViaNet DSL for 6 years since moving to Sudbury. It seems to have the best value. Most services are similar in price, but I find customer service better at ViaNet with low or no phone wait times and local support. I just wish they had fiber service to my house. read more

There internet and telephone service is very reliable, however there web hosting, web mail and customer service is horrible. I was told twice I would receive return phone calls from sales about discounting pricing, and never received a call back. Also with the web mail, they admitted they could see the issue I was talking about, but because I was the only one they are aware of that is having the problem, it isn't worth fixing. I suggest finding another company to deal with. read more

Useless company, terrible customer service. Never received any contact from the company after sending in my application by fax ( what year is this?) and never received a confirmation as was supposed to happen. After not hearing from the company for 2 weeks I called to verify if my application was in and was treated very rudely as if it was my fault they were busy. After being told i would receive a call to confirm installation in at most 2 days. I did not receive this call and a week later attempted to find out what happened. Once again the unpleasant customer service woman promised that I would hear from them in 2 days. I did not hear from anyone for 2 weeks. When i did get in contact with the installer they advised me they would be able to do it that morning or not for a while (great notice) and so I made arrangements to be there. Of course they were unable to achieve a signal, did not get internet and I wasted a day at home for the install. Salt in the wound... xplornet is now "sold out of internet" and they sold out April 30, my install with vianet failed May 4. Thanks Vianet! your terrible customer service and delays have successfully cut me off from any service by yoursevlves or any competition....I had a bad feeling from the moment I made contact with their customer service team and should have trusted my gut. If our brief experience is any indication, I would strongly suggest avoiding Vianet. After 20 relatively problem-free years with our local provider, CompuSolve, they were bought by Vianet in 2015. Then the problems started. Although we were paying for high-speed, it seemed like we were back to dial-up days. Three emails and a call to their customer service department were never acknowledged. We terminated them and moved to cable internet with Start.ca. Great speed and customer service. read more

Much like one other reviewer on here who was with Compu-Solve Internet for a good number of years before they were bought out by Vianet I am FAR FROM PLEASED. I am one of the people who pays my bill yearly and thus gets a once a year invoice for X amount for my services. Well after this company bought out Compu-solve I had already at that point paid for the year (2015) only to find out two months in of the sale (some prior knowledge of this would have been nice as I could have decided before forking over nearly $500 of hard earned cash). Since then my internet has gone done drastically in how well it works....in fact have the time it doesn't work or works so poorly that I might as well go to the library and use the old school 'card catalogue' over google since I can't get anything to load need I add here that I have a computer running on windows 8 with a highspeed (hahahah RIGHT) connection and DSL modem. It is esp. bad I find between the hours of 5pm and 5 am almost like they turn something off when they leave. I have yet to deal with the customer service dept. but, I am not sure I want to based on some of what I have read regarding rudeness of late. Now for the billing, let's not really get started on that but, for the sake of reviews I must, as stated prior I am on a yearly billing option but, asked or should I say was told based on prior information when I inquired what would be happening to Compu-solve's customers who had already paid (my invoice is due Dec 31st for yearly) for the year 2015 that it would go to a monthly billing in 2016...WRONG! I get a bill on January 8th (the new billing date for all bills) for the full amount for the year via e-mail (no snail mail correspondence as how my bill was prior) with two count them TWO days to pay it as it was due January 10th! You cannot pay these bills via internet banking as I have tried so the only option would be check which would not arrive in time or via credit card the option I had no choice but, to use as failure to pay would result in loss of service. In my area which is Barrie we have the option of the 'big boys' namely Rogers or Bell and a few 'small fries' and as much as I LOATH BELL due to several issues over the years with their phone service (both cell and home) and am not a fan of the HUGE PRICES they and Rogers charge I may well make the switch as at least you might be able to get service speeds that are faster than a snail. read more

I was with Vianet for 3 years and had excellent service with fibre, but upon moving to a new location i was recommended a "dsl 15/1" instead of my 40/20 fibre which wasn't available at my new location. I was told this would be close in speeds to my fibre and at the time i didn't understand it wasn't, but needless to say i took the offered dsl and suffered 3 months of the shittiest speeds and connection hiccups I can only compare to when cable first came out. I contacted their tech support multiple times and while friendly they where ultimately useless when i asked to switch to cable i was told i would have to pay another installation despite it being their uneducated sales rep who told me dsl was only slightly slower then my previous fibre package and putting me into this horrid situation. The moral of this is vianet really doesn't care about retaining customers even when they are the ones who screwed up go with some one else because their only ability is to send eastlink crews to install or repair devices while sounding cheery on a phone. read more
