The mangroves are pretty and worth seeing. Our tour ended within the hour (should have been 90 min) but we were given the option of having the kayaks longer so we paddled out to West Lake, very pretty. He was very patient and prepared us well with what to expect and educated us on the foundations of surfing. Marcello and his son were really good about teaching the basics and helping in the water to get acclimated and coaching us on timing. We thankfully had perfect weather for learning-- this was the first time ever surfing for all of us but everyone in the group managed to be able to get up on the board to catch some waves! These guys checked the weather and surf conditions and gave us a time/place meet up spot to ensure maximum fun. Our instructor Chris was excellent. We each got a board as part of the lesson that fit our size. They tolerated our lateness and even gave us some extra time and were very understanding. The lesson started on land with some basic stretching, positioning, and understanding of stance and spring to standing. After that, we got right to it and Chris was amazing at helping us fight through the break and getting our boards to the right place and orientation. He gave us a 1-2-3 count each time to help us get the feel with surfing. As a beginner, I was able to successfully stand up and ride many waves throughout the lesson. It was immensely fun and Chris was a huge part of it. He was super positive and always encouraging even when we fell off immoderately or miss timed the waves. By the end of the lesson I felt pretty comfortable doing it on my own. These guys were one of the more affordable that we looked at when comparing a few different places including some in Miami where I think the surf is often worse. It was also a great work out too. Having played poker in a casino over 15 years, I have decided to give dealing a shot. I have…read morealways wanted to deal poker professionally, be it part or full time. But I have no experience sooooo I enrolled in the Mizrachi Dealer Academy Inc. The program is 120 hours long, which takes about 6 weeks minimum considering the dealer school is only open M-Th. I currently have logged about 18 hours and it is a definite W.I.P (work in progress). Stacy, the instructor, is very demanding and has her own in-your-face style. But there is no doubt an end game method to the style. Poker dealers generally take in between 50k-60k so going to poker school is worth it. In order to get a dealing position, one must pass an audition at a casino. There is where the poker school is crucial because of contacts to local poker rooms. Otherwise, it is tough to get that perverbial foot in the door. Stacy teaches you the proper techniques from the ground up. But, as there are other students, one must also practice well on his or her own. I currently have my own green felt and poker chips at home for practice purposes. Completing the 120 hour course does not guarantee anyone a diploma and an audition, as everyone learns at a different pace. But those students with over 120 hours are allowed to attend the classes until they are audition ready. Gulfstream Casino and Mardi Gras Casino are the two major contacts in connection with the dealer school. However, once you become an adept dealer with a diploma, most other casinos may give you a look. I only know of a few other poker dealer schools in South Florida. Based on my 18 hour experience so far, the Mizrachi Dealer Academy Inc is the way to go. Because if you can handle the pressure there, I believe it to be a piece of cake dealing for real in a casino. You are taught, among other techniques, how to pitch the cards, count the bank, cut the chips, proper shuffling, the different poker games, count and take the rake, running the game, what to look for, and several other necessities for dealing success. But it's not easy. I know the game well but was surprised how little I knew about dealing. Awkward at first, I now feel like I'm beginning to hit a little groove. The 120 hour course costs $1,300. It may be paid in two increments. So, if you are looking to switch careers like me, give poker dealing and this school a look. It can be a part time job as well...

I'm a nervous wreck and it's hard to believe in myself in most situations! Boy oh boy did Stacy change that. The way she believed in me, helped me to believe in myself. She has a way of making you WANT to be better. If you take her course, you will want to prove yourself to her and it will push you to practice every day. It will push you to want to do it for yourself. She never gives up on you. If the course was double the price I paid, I would still do it. She goes above and beyond to implant the rules in your head. If everyone learned from her, the casinos would all have perfect dealers. I'm so happy I took the step to take this course.
