Originating from Lebanon, Seasweet has added a Parramatta franchise to its international chain of patisseries - and I for one am glad they did! The shop is staffed by friendly people who are happy to help you choose between macaroons and petit fours and those delicious looking pieces of baklava. There are also cakes, brownies, desserts and a whole range of tempting things - definitely best avoided if you're on a diet! I go there in search of a gift, which the staff are more than happy to help me find, a present that ends up being well within my price range and puts a huge smile on the face of the recipient. For one whole kilo of mixed sweet things, I paid $20 - how is that possible? Amazing! The food looks as great as it tastes; I dare anyone to go into Seasweet and not be overcome!

I started to wonder if it is just me or are most eateries way over-charging for their courses but thankfully Tamper Press showed me there are still fairly priced dishes that are both delicious and filling to be found, even in the heart of the CBD. I am working my way through the menu but so far their pasta dishes have been sensational especially the generously portioned lasagne and the spaghetti and meatballs that go down a treat on a brisk and windy winter's day in the city. Another standout is the pie with pea mash and gravy. Oh, and as of this review they are doing a coffee happy hour from 2-3pm where coffees are, $2.30... I think, not sure, I just remember being surprised it was so cheap. I am looking forward to one day trying the breakfast there. They do get busy in the mornings and around lunch but not too crazy. Which is fortunate as the place seats a cosy 15-20 people. But I've never had to wait long for anything, I'd say 5 minutes max and that was for a fresh cooked meal. To be honest, I'm a tad nervous leaving this review as I don't want it to get too busy but I want to send some good karma their way. If they banned smoking in the 'outdoor' area then they'd get five stars from me. But I totally understand this might not be up to them and I am sure their smoking customers wouldn't agree with me! So a subjective negative rather than an objective one.

It's tucked behind a garage door that allows for tables to spill out on the sidewalk. There's ample seating indoors and a back area, so you're sure to find seating. They offer coffee, all espresso style, it seems. So if you need a flat black, this is the place to go. The food was delicious, and the avocados were fresh, with a drizzle of lemon oil. Delicious! The sourdough was amazing and the service was fantastic.

Really smooth. The green tea latte was made with powdered matcha and tasted great/legitimate, albeit presweetened which is fine for me. The satay wrap was full of chicken, rocket and eggs and seasoned well with mild chilli sauce. I highly recommend this place for its good quality and value; all the small coffees are only $3.20 and large is $3.70. Food is well priced. Plus the owners are a friendly couple and really serve you well like when we ate there today. The outdoors seating is aplenty and definitely really nice in summer as witnessed today.

There's something a little bit secretive about The Little Marionette…read more It would be easy to mistake the Annandale cafe for an empty shopfront or an abandoned house. In fact, with no signage on the building, you could walk straight past without even registering it was there. That is, if it weren't for the smell of coffee beans wafting through the windows and the throngs of milling hipsters spilling onto the footpath. Once you step your way through the dogs and fixie bicycles leaning against signposts, the staff greet you with a laidback "Hey", despite how busy they must be. The sky blue mural on the roof (complete with clouds) gives the impression that this tiny shoe-box of a cafe is far more expansive than in reality, and indeed it is when compared to its hole-in-the-wall predecessor in Balmain. There's a floor to ceiling bookshelf stacked with Little Golden Books, travel guides and encyclopedias, and if you lift the right book the entire wall revolves revealing a hidden second room packed with giant green leather couches. Whilst moose heads are no longer mounted on the walls, you still get the feeling that you've stumbled into a hunter's trophy room to discuss covert matters over cuban cigars. Local indie artists trickle through the stereo and, it seems, the same indie artists are squatting on the arms of the couches, knocking back one little coffee after another. In the roasting room out the back stacks of hessian bags are being emptied into the giant copper roaster by a couple of guys in flannelette shirts, rolled up jeans and caps akin to those your grandad wore, and the smell of the roasting beans is just as sweet and warming as the coffee itself. With beans from Africa, Indonesia and South America, you take your pick between house blends and a daily differing bean (today it's a Honduras). The coffee is a bit hit and miss depending on who's pulling the strings, but even at its worst it's still a good eight out of ten (it's a ten plus the rest of the time). So, get in on the secret. Be mysterious and important. Pull the fire stoker and sneak away to the hidden room, order your second coffee and discuss world events (or last night's Game of Thrones episode) in a hushed voice.
