Hands down this is the only shelter in town I will support. My family and I began walking dogs and cleaning kennels when we lived in a apartment. Now that we have planted roots in K-town, after a thorough vetting process, we have been able to foster several animals. Moreover, we have had our efforts rewarded and have been able to see them successfully adopted into good "FURever" homes. What Kurt F may fail to realize, almost all animals at this local, no Kill, animal shelter, is that these animals often come from really bad situations. A.R.K.'s main purpose it to ensure these animals do not end up in a same or worse situation. I personally have seen a student, who lived in college dorm rooms, attempt to adopt a pet. For those who may not be aware, dorm rooms are temporary and almost never allow pets of any kind. Clearly her heart was in the right place but she was a bit short sighted. When adopting from A.R.K., much like other shelters, they ensure your home, landlord, and family are a good fit for the animal as well as the adopter. This has been by far the best and most rewarding volunteer opportunity for my family and myself. The board members' integrity and willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty is refreshing. I have personally sat in on a few meetings just out curiosity and was inspired to join their outreach efforts. We certainly are blessed to have the opportunity to serve along side the dedicated volunteers that run this fantastic organization.

I started the adoption process through Animal Rescue Kleberg. They called the store and put a hold on the cat for me, as I was not able to pick him up for a few days. We were very excited to be getting a new addition to our family. The next evening I was called by Animal Rescue and told that somebody had removed the hold and adopted him out. I did some digging into the situation and from what I could find out was one of the volunteers from animal rescue went to the store and demanded the hold be taken off, against the store's employee's wishes, as they knew I would be coming to pick him up soon. He was subsequently adopted out to an EX EMPLOYEE of PetSense. The store manager gave me an answer full of fluff saying they have changed their policy so cats aren't adopted out when they are put on hold. So basically... they will adhere to what a hold even means. Stories kept contradicting each other that leads me to believe somebody intentionally went around my adoption process to do a favor for a friend who wanted the unavailable cat and now is trying to cover their butt. Well done Petsense and Animal Rescue. Well done. (The original volunteer from ARK that helped me was wonderful and tried her best to correct this)

Dr. Mcinnis is our physician and as usual provided excellent care. Her assistant, shame on my for forgetting his name was there the entire time assisting the Dr.while providing comforting care while keeping the critters as calm as possible. Here to tell you that care for animals is not cheep, but medications for animals just seems to keep going higher. Perhaps we should partition the President that while he's working to lower perceptions costs for those of us with two legs, maybe he can cut the same deal on those with four legs that we love so very much.

I have an almost 6 year old dachshund presented with back pain. I did arrive 6 minutes late. I called to inform them that I was late due to passing the facility. I apologized profusely. When I arrived I did inform the front desk that he is not a good patient and we would need a muzzle. When we walked into the room the technician immediately goes to grab Willy without saying a word and I informed them again that he would need a muzzle. (The muzzles were sitting on the desk so the front desk must have relayed the information I had previously given.) The doctor the said "well you should have told us that when we made the appointment". I was jaw dropped at the bedside rudeness. My dog is in pain and I came to a vet immediately to rectify his ailment. I was told that "that's just who I am" by the doctor and if I didn't like their bedside that there was plenty of other vets out there. This was completely unacceptable and unprofessional. Maybe not everyone's experience is the same as mine. I went there for the good reviews and being that I am local and wanted to get my pup in as soon as possible. I hope no one has to go through that sort of treatment and they are able to train and improve from my terrible experience. Update. The front desk informed me that it was Dr Jennifer McGinnis. I will 100% be reporting her to the state board.
