I am not sure how I found this place but I am so glad that I did. Very friendly staff, great menu, and nice bar makes for a perfect meal. We were definitely in a neighborhood spot for locals but they didn't seem to mind that we were tourists from America. The menu was printed in English but it had familiar items from tapas restaurants in the US. The tapas prices were reasonable for the quality of food but I wish there was a bit more on each plate as we ended up ordering doubles of some plates because we just needed a few more bites. I felt like we ordered most of the menu because either everything looked delicious or it tasted delicious. Inside the restaurant, it is very cozy and quaint and somewhat dark but many Dutch restaurants have the same ambiance. Lovely little place for a date in Amsterdam. The tapas were nicely presented and tasted good. The tomato salad was seasoned well, and we enjoyed the burrata and avocado, though the burrata was a bit chewier I would have liked. The highlight was the octopus, it was the most tender I have ever tasted! We also got the fried sole which was seasoned and cooked just right. It was a good full portion of the fish. Prices feel a bit steep for the portions of the other dishes at €7-9 per plate. read more

Great tapas and service. If you are not familiar with the Amsterdam waiter/waitress/bartender attitude they don't like to chat too much with the customers, maybe because they don't get tips...... not sure. So when a server is talking to you is a big deal. The lady that served me opened about her future career plans and her personal life which was different and much appreciated, specially because that night I was alone at this place. The tapas are made with care and love, all three tapas I tried tasted amazing. The restaurant is in the "very influential" area of Amsterdam, so if you are here nice this place a try. read more

Good service servers spoke great English. Vegetarian cauliflower was not good, chicken dish with the hummus and pomegranate was okay. What a fabulous find! A short walk from the Valeriusplein tram stop in a quiet neighborhood, VIDA excelled in everything. We got a warm welcome and a thorough explanation of the menu when we arrived, including an informed description of the Spanish wine list. We ordered the Pulpa, the Albondigas and the fried eggplant, which were all delicious, and finished with the Licormisu, a tiramisu made with Licor 43, a Spanish liqueur. Service was helpful without being overbearing, all night long. If we lived in Amsterdam, we would go to VIDA at least once a week. read more

It was Friday date night and I suggested we try one of the restaurants in our neighborhood for a change. So we decided to give Vida a try. We didn't have a reservation at 7.30 PM, but they had tables available. Food: We ordered the following four items because they're the traditional items we order at all of our tapas places for comparison: Pimientos de Padron: Yikes. We have eaten pimientos all around the world and in especially Spain and we have never had them with black pepper on them. There were black pepper flakes all over instead of salt. Not sure if this is a Dutch thing, but it didn't taste good at all. Gambas al Ajillo: Eh...so I was excited when the dish came out because it was sizzling so I was expecting these gambas to be bursting with flavor, but unfortunately they were bland. Plus, the pool of oil they were sizzling in didn't leave a good feeling. Pulpo: I needed a magnifying glass to find the pulpo on the plate. It was a pretty chintzy serving, but at least they were soft. Picana: This was the best out of the four. It had good flavor and was tasty. Drinks: We had two glasses of their sangria which was ok. Price: €39.60 in total. Service: Very good, helpful and friendly. Ambiance: Nice ambiance, all locals, and lively. Would I go back? Outstanding find during our stay at the Hilton Amsterdam. A nice 10 minute walk away and easy to find. Prices are exceptionally reasonable - 4 of us filled our bellies with about 3 plates each plus 2 bottles of wine for €100. Highly recommend and we're heading back for another meal during our short stay. read more

It's a restaurant very empty but refused to seat us without reservation. We were told only the high table left. With a 2 year old, it's impossible to sit. Very disappointed. We tried to speak with them if we can have a normal table and we will finish our dinner very quickly but no luck. I guess they just don't need our business. read more

Easily the BEST Spanish restaurant I have tried so far in Amsterdam and definitely THE BEST in Oud Zuid (where there are a few). Everything was good and the service was friendly and impeccable. The waitress even warned us that the garlic prawns were so garlicky they were best to leave until the end of the meal as to not overpower the rest of the dishes flavours and that was a good tip as they were REALLY Garlicky! Everything was good. We had the Estante De La Carne meat platter Aperitivo, stuffed red peppers, pulpo horneado (octupus tenicacle) which I thought was very authentic. The patatas bravas were more potato wedges with a side of good tomato salsa but that was the only negative thing I would say and they were also very good. The sardines were also very good, excellent quality. I saw a table order the Chorizo fuego and they got to finish it in a flame of pure alcohol themselves. We opted for this as "pudding" and my husband was very happy with this choice. I definitely recommend this place and need to go back to have the churros! read more

Delicious tapas & excellent service open late. We wanted a late dinner & drinks in the museum district & this place was an excellent choice.

We arrived and promptly was seated. We asked for an English menu and the server gave us one a half hour later. We quickly ordered and it took an addional 40 minutes to recive our first course. The wait staff did apologize stating they only have 2 servers on duty. Food was good but it took forever to bring out our entire meal. We ordered desert and that took over 30 minutes. I think this restaurant could be great if they only had enough staff. read more

This part of the Oud-Zuid neighborhood now has a classy, cool, fun and high quality food place! On a windy Monday night, 9 friends of mine had great food and casual, friendly yet attentive service. Notable menu picks were the eggplant, lamb chops, chicken drumsticks, and pimentos de padron, although everything was high quality and tasty. The olive selection was great as was the bar. Can't wait to come back again, as I think the ambiance (classy and you can hear each other), tasty tapas and location make it a winner. read more

One of the best meals in a long time. I've been searching for this kind of creamy burrata for a while. Paired with the grilled avocado and pepper jelly it was even better than I've ever had it. I was in Amsterdam on vacation this week and was looking for some good food close to my hotel. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. The service was amazing and the food was great too. Our favorite was the croquetas de jalapeño and the costillas de ternera. These were easily some of the best tapas I've ever had. Nearly every dish I tried (about 10 since I came with a group) was delicious in its own, unique way. The octopus and chorizo were especially good (you flame grill the chorizo at the table). I also had the Licor 43 Red Hot drink which was sweet with a little spice on the end to round out the taste.
