A special shout-out to Ladawn for making this transition so easy for me. I had to make a long drive, and I was honestly nervous about the move, but she made the entire process stress-free and smooth. I truly appreciate all her help!

DO NOT RENT HERE!…read more My fiancé and I rented a 1 bed apartment here for a year. For starters I'd like to say that everyone in the leasing office is rude and has an attitude as if they're better than you. Don't be offended by their "better than you attitude" almost all of the workers live on the property of this so called "luxury apartment" with us tenants so I assume that's why they're always in such a crappy mood! The unit we moved into was filthy. Looked like it hadn't been cleaned. Glue all over the floors, paint splatters on the floor, oven was covered in grime. Unfortunately we had already signed our lease so there wasn't much we could do. I cleaned up what they couldn't and moved on. Almost a WEEK into our new move at our "luxury" apartment the hallways became a nightmare. At least every week there was something new. Garbage left everywhere, horrendous smells, liquids spilt all over the stairs and hallways. Honestly you name it and it was there! We contacted the office a handful of times about the issue but they brushed it off. The garbage would sit there for WEEKS before it was picked up. The floors would stay in that condition for MONTHS until someone came and cleaned them. I started to notice that they only came and cleaned it up when they were having a walkthrough with new tenants. It was truly disgusting. Thankfully our lease was ending and we moved out two weeks before we had to turn the keys in. I spent two weeks driving back and forth to get that unit cleaned. Obviously to ensure we get our full deposit back. Unfortunately we didn't receive our full deposit back. They decided to take out $574.86. In all of our years of renting we have never "not" received our full deposit back yet alone have THAT much taken out. They charged us $190 for a cleaning fee and $384 for "renovations". We have no pets, no children. Just a young couple renting alone. We had a couple of holes in the wall from our TV being mounted that we patched up but other than that the unit was in pristine condition. I believe that we got taken advantage of by the workers in the leasing office (Dillon Mertens & LaDawn Fox) and Aspire Apartments as a whole. Fast forward to a month after being moved out and no longer on the lease I receive an email from PG&E stating that I have an outstanding bill. I call PG&E to further investigate and they told me that my name is still on the PG&E account for that address. They informed me that my Landlord or my apartment complex is responsible for removing my name off of the bill which Aspire obviously didn't do. So now I am getting billed for another tenants electricity. I have called the leasing office at Aspire everyday now for a week. The call goes straight to a voicemail. The unfortunate thing about all of this is that we were and are great tenants. To get treated like this is mind boggling. I hope future tenants can read this review and think twice before renting here. I hope Aspire Apartments can do the right thing and fix not only our situation but every other tenant that that has been wrongfully treated by them.

However, almost 2 weeks ago I went into the office to address a parking issue which has since been ridiculous. I come home and literally there is no parking! I addressed the issue to the staff that a lot of the vehicles parked here have no parking permit. Out of state cars, cars I see consistently parked day in/day out. Erica makes excuses for these people stating 1. they have tow trucks driving thru here all the time to ensure people comply (which is a lie because then more than 20 cars would be towed already) 2. the residents here must have lost/damaged their tags and never come to the office to replace it 3. they have overnight guests 4. guests are visiting for the day (every day and night?!?!) All of which are not my problem. Everyone signed the contract stating permit parking only and if you have overnight guests they must contact the office to obtain a temp permit, also a big ass sign at the entry gate saying permit parking only!! Everyone who lives here are adults, treat them like one! Tow their damn cars for not complying otherwise revise your contract regarding permit parking and remove the sign out front. And while you're at it, remove the gates too. Clearly anyone can enter thru the 'exit' gate not using a code or the remote. Leasing staff is aware but have no done anything about it. Just remove those gates altogether. Might as well.

When doing your initial walkthrough, I strongly suggest taking a peek under the cabinets in the kitchen area. Nothing is sealed or enclosed. I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Chesapeake Bay Apartments. I have had my name on…read morethe waiting list for nearly three years, yet I have seen no progress. The employee who handles the list, (Afghan Lady), Mina, appears to prioritize her friends and family by placing their names ahead of others who have been waiting much longer. About a month ago, I walked in to the office and I filed a complaint with management regarding this issue. Since then, it seems my name was removed from the list again. When I called the office today, Mina answered the phone and acted as if she had no knowledge of my situation or previous communications. Her attitude was dismissive and unprofessional. After waiting for years, I expected transparency, fairness, and accountability. Instead, I have experienced frustration, confusion, and what appears to be favoritism. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and reviews how the waiting list is being handled to ensure all applicants are treated fairly.

DISCLAIMER: You may notice two written apartment reviews, for places I've lived at, in very close proximity. The fact is, I don't think I've ever complained or had a bad experience in an apartment, within such a short time. The point of this disclaimer is to ensure you don't dismiss my attitude or reviews, based on this coincidence. I'm not a picky person when it comes to where I live. I'll also write some reviews of other places I've stayed at over the years and enjoyed immensely. Okay, there is this lady who was a manager at this place, between the time of October 2003 and July 2004. Nice enough. But she turned into a real bitch the last few weeks of my living there. I suppose it started when I had to break my contract, a yearly contract. And by the way, that's not the end all to be all, of living somewhere. I think the fact that folks couldn't throw garbage into the garbage bins, and have it land on the ground and make the place trashy might be a bigger problem, than the regular number of folks who break apartment rental contracts. I called up and told the office that I had to break my contract. She called me back and told me on the phone that policy was that I had to pay the remainder of my contract. When they re-rented the apartment, I should be refunded. I told her in no uncertain terms that I "would not be paying 3 months of rent for nothing." First of all, I don't normally have that much in advance to pay, 2nd, what average person in their right mind would pay 3 months in advance? I wonder how many times in history, has somebody gotten that call, and responded positively? Huh? Give me a break!!! What sticks in my mind, was her perceived passiveness, and her "okay" and hanging up. Little did I know I would be remembering that conversation many times later in various levels of communications. Several weeks later (I was kind enough to give them a 30 day notice).I had completely moved out. I gave them a call to let them know my apartment was empty. I was paid up, through the next week or so, and they could have cleaned and rented the apartment anytime over the next 30 days. I had two cars, and only one driver in my family, so I chose to leave my car parked (in an open space, not my assigned space) and was to return within 1 week to pick up my car. Unbeknownst to me, she, Dalene Howe, at the management office had put a "store bought" yellow parking sticker on my car, the very next day. The "ticket looking" yellow sticker (not an official one used by law enforcement) stated that my car would be towed within 24 hours? Huh? This is not a place that is in the middle of the city, where you commonly see "abandoned" cars. Trust me, it was very crazy that this happened. Ohh and I had paid my rent up to the end of the month, and this was near the beginning of the month, so it can't be argued that I was no longer a resident. But I didn't know. I returned about 1 week later, to check on my car, and make sure all was okay (I happened to be in town.) and could not find my car. I immediately went to the management office. I saw somebody named Tracy, and asked her what happened, if she knew. She acted somewhat defensive, and instructed me to go out and talk to Dalene, who was giving a tour on the property. You read that right! She was instructing me to go out and interrupt the manager on a property tour. Are you with me? I'll do the math for you. This was the response of somebody who knew some wrong had been done, and she didn't want any part of it. She wanted me out of her hair, even if it meant telling me to do something that was totally against company policy. Long story, short. She had towed my car, because she was: an imbicile, mad about me breaking my contract, mad about standing up to her on the phone and refusing to pay 3 months rent to nothing, or a combination of all three. Can you believe it? And the Smoking Gun? Dalene is married to the owner of the local tow shop? Ohh, and did I forget to mention I had gotten one of their stupid yellow stickers on my other car, months earlier when I lived there, and questioned it then too. I also ensured my cars license plates were updated in their records in their office, so it was ridiculous to be told my car would be towed, because it hadn't moved in 3 days, or whatever. Not to mention, even in the city, those stupid sticky yellow tow stickers (not the one that was on my car) always say 15 or more days, a much more reasonable frame of time. Good stuff: Allowed washer/dryer hook ups in the unit we lived in and this was great for my wife Nice pool area Nice gym Nice laundry room, but we never used it They had a basketball court.
